The Fish Moon beer was pretty good so we both got a glass of a lager type beer. The appetizer (poppers) were served fairly quickly and I thought they would good ... not too hot/spicy. Our order was a burger and catfish sandwich with onion rings. It was a really really long wait to get our food... we had been there for 90 minutes before the entree was delivered. Our bar seats were at the end of the bar... every time someone walked in or out of the kitchen (30 feet behind us) or anywhere near the bar the floor shook like there were elephants passing by.... it was unnerving. One nice thing was that the music was pretty good. However, given the lack of good service and mediocre food, my SO will never go back.

I also do some research on the restaurants, coffeeshops, bakeries or other signature spots that might be in the area. One such spot was Fish Moon Brewing. First off - great name. It's fun, quirky, and they used the moon motif throughout their space (pun intended). As for the restaurant itself, this is my kind of place. Open, with subdued lighting, and just enough of the moon paraphernalia to keep you interested without being overwhelming. It reminded me of a German beer hall - in a good way. I opted for the Portobello mushroom & Swiss burger, which had a rich flavor, and I didn't miss a bite. It was served up with their pub chips, which were just perfect. I had a wonderful beer, too, which was a twin berry and just the right blend of flavor. What's more, it worked well for the hot afternoon. I was a little confused about the beer selection, however. When I asked about what beers they offered, my server just listed them off. I generally like having an opportunity to take a look at a list and see if there is something I haven't tried before, especially when visiting for the first time. That would be my only critique: to have a current list of your beers and maybe a little description. All told, this is a gem for Rushville and it's placed in a great location. Highly recommended.

The pizzas here are sized for an individual to enjoy, but they could also be a nice little sharable snack between two people. I got the Bill the Butcher, which is a meat-forward pie with beer-infused pizza sauce, cheese, pepperoni, bacon, chicken, sausage, ham and steak. It's a lotta meat! But it was delicious. All of the pizzas have interesting names and even more interesting ingredients, and now I'm kind of wishing I had ordered the Crust Punk Deluxe. Maybe next time! I feel like I missed an opportunity by not getting any of the beer here. But I did buy a pub glass to take home with me. I just wasn't feeling like beer when I visited, but the next time I'm in Muncie, I will definitely stop by for some beer. The service here is very accommodating and friendly. It was great, and I loved it so much that I came back later that evening to get another one. As I was sitting at my table enjoying my spectacular lunch, I noticed that they were playing some great tunes. Isn't it nice when you find a place with food that tastes great, and people who work there with great taste in music? What a pleasant surprise to find this small brewery (literally) on the south side of Muncie! When…read moreI pulled up to this place, it looked like any other strip mall/industrial office space. Even when I stepped inside, the lobby looked like an office with some merchandise of the brewery on hand. I was greeted by the mom of the owner and she welcomed me back into the brewery (it looks like a big garage) where the vats sit out just behind the bar. I grabbed one of the seats and decided to go with a flight ($7) of five of the six beers. They weren't arranged in any particular order on the taps, so I didn't necessarily drink them in the optimal order, but I was pleased with the flavor on all of them! I started with a Hopscotch Scottish Ale with hops (4.4% ? IBU) that had a pleasant blended flavor where the hops were forward, but not overpowering. I moved on to the Moe's Cream Ale (5%, 10) which seemed especially sweet after the hopped scotch. Very smooth and tasty! The amber (5.3% ?) was probably my least favorite of the flight. It was okay, but didn't stand out from the others. The White River Stout (4.8%, 34) was a little different from most stouts I've tried. It had the deep rich coffee flavor, but there was a hint of some mystery flavor I still can't quite identify, but would say it was almost tart....but not in a bad way. Just a nice flavor with a little something extra. I finished off the flight with the Black IPA (8%, 81) which was another good beer. Plenty of hops, but not overly bitter. I did get to sample the Windy Kilt (Scotch Ale/Wee Heavy) and was surprised that for 9% (27 IBU) beer, the alcohol didn't overpower the other ingredients! It was delicious and balanced. Probably the most enjoyable high alcohol beer I've had! Right now, the space is a bit cluttered and isn't big enough to meet a bunch of friends. It also closes at 6 p.m. during the week. But good news is that the owner is trying to reopen a taproom nearer to downtown (Hoyt and Liberty) late in the summer. From what I was told, it should have plenty of parking and lots of space for customers AND equipment. Not sure if the operations will close on the south side, but even if they brew one place and serve at another, that would be a definite improvement to the visitor experience. I got to talk with a couple of the folks who work there and one of their customers while enjoying my visit. Seems like a friendly group that like to share good stories and listen to a few of mine. Brewery #281 This…read moreplace understands me, it get's me, I'm partially convinced they tapped my brain or my metaverse and said "Let's make a place that caters to this guy, Da Gabe aka Mike Honcho" Bad Dad has taken dad jokes and made a brewery. Beers named 'Socks and Sandals, Pull My Finger, I'll Turn this Car Around' and many more. Their tin tacker is of a slightly obese dad in an undersized sleeveless shirt, headband and white New Balance sneakers riding a beer can. Perfection. Genius! While their humor got me in the door, their pizza and beer will get me to come back. I got my standard flight with I'll Turn This Car Around (Hazy IPA), Kiss the Cook (DIPA), Snooze Button (Imperial Stout) and a Tapestry of Obscenity (IPA). All were really great but The Snooze Button was my favorite of the bunch. We also got a couple of pizzas. A Detroit style called Motown with thick pepperoni, hot honey, and basil which was very tasty and a Margherita pizza that was solid. My only issue was they were out of stickers for my man cave wall but that's just all the reason to go back next time I visit my parents in Indiana.
