We came in on chili weeknight excited to give this place a try, and our bellies were warmed with yummy ramen broths and hot takoyaki. I was sad to see the menu had some many delicious sounding items crossed off, but they still offered a good selection of food. We had the inkfire ramen and dragon fire ramen, both similar broths but the dragon fire packs a bit of heat! My favorite dish was the takoyaki, and they come out incredibly hot and fresh that you have to give it several minutes to cool down. Service was super friendly, and considering there was only one server that night, the service was surprisingly quick! It wasn't busy, but there were still a good number of parties. Ambiance is cool. My husband had the spicy miso ramen with udon noodles and pork belly and I had the dragon fire with wavy ramen noodles with the ham hock. Mine was definitely superior and the spice was perfect. Our server was great and knowledgeable. Not my fave ramen to date. read more

It's definitely a very "Americanized" Japanese place, considering this place doesn't have some staples of Japanese culture, even sushi, but it's pretty solid. Had the karrage oyakodon, and it was a solid amount of food, with the chicken staying crispy. The taste was good enough, but it definitely needed more flavor/salt. The ramen is nice and customizable, but the seafood one was a bit salty; however, the spicy miso had the spice and flavor. The reason this place gets a 4 star, though, instead of a 3 for its mostly above-average food is because of the service. To date, one of the nicest servers I can recall, as she was very energetic, apologetic, etc. everything you'd want a server to do she did. The first time my husband and little ones went to InkFire, the restaurant was still working out the kinks. The food delicious, but service wasn't organized yet. I've been very many times now, and it is SO good! We've had ramen of many kinds, tapas, wings, bulgogi, drinks, etc. it's so tasty, presented well (beautifully plated), and the service is always great! This weekend my husband and I wanted to have Japanese cuisine for dinner. While in Norman we discovered a newer restaurant called InkFire ramen and tapas bar. I was delighted to see a few traditional dishes on the menu. We started with sharing our salads which were sliced cucumbers in a lightly spiced vinaigrette and a medium spiced cabbage salad in a sweetened soy dressing. We were hungry and excited that I forgot to take pictures! My husband had an Asahi pint on tap and I had hot green tea in a cast iron kettle with cast iron tea cup. The our entrees came. My husband had the Gyudon (beef simmered in onions with a scrambled egg in a savory and sweet sauce over rice. I had my number one favorite dish which is Katsudon. It is a fried chicken mostly pork cutlet also simmered in a sweet soy with onions and a beaten egg cooked over it served over rice as well. Both come garnished with green onions, pickled ginger and nori. It was fabulous and delicious! We left full and satisfied and we can't wait to go back! Cindy Ps. Had really high hopes as we had been wanting to try this place for a while. Walked in a stood at the front for almost 10 minutes without any acknowledgement by staff. We were passed by multiple times, looked at etc, with zero words or acknowledgement that we were standing there. My husband ended up leaving and walked to the Winston to check their wait times once we realized no one was going to talk to us. I did end up just stopping a server and they nonchalantly said they were swamped. I waited tables for almost 10 years, and could not imagine being so swamped that I walked by a potential customer multiple times without even a head nod or a hello! This same employee sat at the bar, next to it, playing in their phone almost the entire time we stood there. Never. Again. Very disappointing. read more

This is unquestionably a pleasant little joint! It was super quiet when we went but that was ok. Our server seated us immediately. She was quite attentive and took our drink orders/asked about allergies as we were seated. She brought us shrimp flavored chips with our drinks. That was a nice addition to our late lunch. I had takoyaki as an appetizer. They were so tasty. Cooked perfectly! Usually when I get takoyaki it is super squishy inside. Theirs have a very tiny bit more dense texture. The best I've had probably. I also had the inkfire black seafood ramen. The broth was excellent. Like drinking the sea in the best possible way imaginable! The mussels were a little tight but that was my only critique. The noodles were typical ramen noodles. Others at the table ordered the fried sausage. It had a nice mild flavor. They also had the dragon fire ramen and the inkfire ramen. The broth from the dragon fire was a flavorful bomb of spicy! I can recommend all the dishes we ate today! I got the Fire Dragon Ramen which is the InkFire ramen but with their hot sauce out in it. It was really good when it came to the noodles, broth and add-ons. The only complaint I had about the ramen was that the pork was kinda chewy and dry but other than that, it was super good. The restaurant is on Main Street in norman and is a really good addition. Here to whet your appetite, a look back at my dinner at Ink fire ramen. The crab wontons were delicious, with the perfect amount of flavor, accompanied by a sweet/sour sauce. I really enjoyed the Takoyaki. They were slightly crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. I would say they probably are more of an acquired taste, especially for people who aren't adventurous eaters. And for the plat de résistance, the inkfire Black Seafood Ramen, which was equally as flavorsome, made with actual squid ink, and not food coloring. If I had one criticism, it would be that the shrimp was a tad overcooked. Keep in mind, this is a brand new restaurant, so I really hope they don't end up sacrificing quality to please inpatient customers. Because as far as the negative review goes, I think we can all agree that it's better to have a menu that favors quality and freshness with reasonable prices, over speed. If time is of the essence, I would suggest to go to a fast food restaurant. Kudos to the staff who were very attentive. I can't wait to go back, and enjoy more things on the menu. read more

Food is good from the one time we had it for takeout. However, service is horrendous. When getting takeout, the order wasn't actually "placed" so had to wait upon arrival for it to be cooked. New place so no huge deal, but no sauces for any dishes were in the bags once we got home. Bummer. But the Raman was tasty so we tried to go in for dinner a couple months later. Big mistake. Despite having 4 people front of house, and a plethora of empty tables, we were only offered a "half table or the bar" as an option. Ok fine. We sat at a half table. 10 minutes later a party of 3 walks in (we still have no water at this point, party of 2) and were seated at a booth, served water, and app orders taken. Still we sit unacknowledged. We walked out. Unfortunate the service ruined what smelled like great food. Front of house is just as important as back. Make your servers take their earbuds up, tend to paying customers, clean off dirty tables (unacceptable to let them sit while you're doing nothing) and you'll be far more successful.
