While staying downtown Burbank, I typed in restaurants and due to it being a Sunday most restaurants closed at 9pm. Inkwell was one of the few open until 11pm. However, it is not downtown, it is actually in the opposite direction closer to Ikea/Walgreens which was only about a 10 minute walk, but it was worth it. Upon entering, it really is a tavern where there are tables but no waitstaff as orders are placed at the bar. However, they do at least deliver drinks/food to your table. I really did not know what to expect but the ratings were high, so, trusting my fellow Yelpers, I knew I could not go wrong. They had a good wine selection and I chose Ridge Three Valleys red blend which is one of my favorites. My companion is all about dry martinis and he told Frank the bartender that he did a great job! They offer fruit infused fresh water at the bar and I loved the beehive dispenser so much that I ordered one on Amazon (Tablecraft). We chose the pretzel, mac & cheese with shrimp and the smash burger with the beyond patty. Quite honestly the best spot in Burbank to grab a refreshing drink and grab some delicious grub. Every time I pay a visit I get the wings, fries and cider. Sometimes i switch it up and get a smash burger. The cool part about this bar is that you really can start a conversation with anyone that sits nexts to you. Dim, relaxing, intimate and yet a bit social. You can dress up a bit or not and not feel like you're out of place either way. We came here on Sunday as it was close to work. Not too busy and the staff were friendly. There wasn't anything different or special about the food or drinks - it's typical tavern food. It was early-ish on a Saturday evening so it wasn't too busy. We came back for Sunday Brunch a few weeks later and tried the Nova Lox/Burrata Toast, Beef Tallow Hash Brown Waffle, & Pink Starburst (I wound up ordering 2 of these just for myself!). Once again the food and drinks were outstanding and we love the old-school vibe. This is our new favorite local spot. Minor con: I did notice a sewage smell in the bathroom. This place is incredible! We came here on the way to the Burbank airport and I highly recommend it, especially if you're flying in or out of the airport as it's 10 mins away. Every food dish and cocktail we got were amazing. The baked Brie is my favorite. We also got the kale salad and the heirloom tomato burrata and they were also very good. You have to order at the bar and then they deliver it to your table but the service was fast and friendly. I loved the vibe of the place it was super cozy old fashioned looking place minus the huge tvs. I got the tequila cocktail and the vodka cocktail and they were both great as well. My friend ordered the cocktail with mezcal which I am not normally a fan of but it was also delicious and not too overpowering smokey like mezcal sometimes can be. read more

I walk in ready to eat and was shocked at the interior decor. The literary display of pictures and writing on the wall matched the culinary presentation of greatness sat before me. The bar tender answered my questioned with knowledge of a tendered professor from Nantucket. My Friday night experience was cap off by the Burbank Film Festival attendees, patrons flooded the tavern, so we left for the festival catching the 9pm comedy short films. First of all, they have my favorite beer, Allagash White! Already a win. My husband and I came and had the fries with beef tallow and pork, the Brie with fig jam and crostinis, and the burgers. Was genuinely blown away by the flavor! The owner explained the tallow keeps the fries from becoming soggy but coats them with flavor. We love an educational experience! The smash burgers were "drive out of the way to come back" delicious. I'm not in Burbank often but I imagine we will be now Soft buns really just elevate the burger and the flavor was excellent.
