The Ramp has been suggested a few times, but the location really throws you off, under the freeway and in front of a expressway entrance. Okay, buddy. This year I didn't celebrate Mother's Day on Sunday. As a mom for over 30 years, I don't want to wait in line, eat in a crowded restaurant, and have my children pay for overpriced food. So, one of my spawns, on Monday said let's grabbed lunch. Whatever you want, sushi, ramen, Korean bbq. I said let's go HH at the Ramp. My child couldn't believe it, but Matriarch ruled. We went with no expectations. We had several $4 margaritas, wings, mozzarella sticks, cheese bread, nachos, and split a cheeseburger with fries. Everything was pretty decent if not delicious. The wings were well done (our preference), the mozzarella sticks had a nice cheese pull, the nachos, were baked but each chip was crispy and fresh, the burger was good (soft artisanal bun), the fries were decent steak fries ( I'm not a fan of steak fries). The margaritas were on the rocks and made with margarita mix. they seemed like they would sneak up on you. Still tasty. Staff were attentive and great! The best part we spent under $100.00 w/tip! I dined in here before anticipating another good experience so I decided to comeback. Free valet parking & limited space but was able to get one. The hostess greeted us with a smile & was seated in 15 minutes. We've ordered pasta & fish, however my friend specifically mentioned food allergies but still found garlic on the vegetables. waiter apologized but no empathy when informed us that "I told the kitchen." Thanks Yelp Friends, I finally made it to The Ramp! Hubs and I came in for a Halloween dinner after our party plans got sidelined - all dressed up and no where to show! Save for The Ramp, so away we goooo! Alexis was a FANTASTIC server! So knowledgable and allowed us plenty of time to enjoy some apps and drink specials, guided us through the menu and his suggestions and even took a pic of us and shared some local history! BRAVO! The HH specials are 2pm - 7pm EVERYDAY! The Lemon Drop was not only delicious, it was well poured! Only 2, 3 would've have me on the floor! Hubs went with a Mai Tai to start and said it was also good and plenty strong. After 1 he switched to coffee! We started with Potato Skins before moving onto our entrees. For me, Trout Almandine with fresh veg and the rice pilaf was a delightful treat. Hubs selected the Beef Ravioli in meat sauce and was very happy with his choice. We also went with the garlic cheese bread Alexis suggested and found it better than The Smokehouse! Prices were fair and the place was hopping with locals and regulars - most of which Alexis knew. This is definitely a friendly neighborhood spot that has been serving delicious meals since 1962. The owner still works the tables and is as busy and as friendly as he requires his staff to be. We were staying at an Airbnb nearby and decided to give The Ramp a try. They have a decent sized parking lot that was empty on a Saturday for dinner. The inside of the restaurant is quite dark, so we had trouble seeing the menu and our food throughout the night. Our party shared the zucchini fritti and garlic cheese bread. The garlic cheese bread was addicting, and we were full from this before our actual meals came! I shared the salmon salad and chicken parm. I was very impressed by the salmon because it was very moist! The chicken parm portion was huge and overall flavorful. We had more than enough leftovers for the next day. Food was excellent and I would definitely be back if in the area! Service could have been a little better. Came here for happy hour with a large group. The waitstaff was super accommodating and friendly! Happy hour is only in the patio and bar area. Prices are very good. Lots of parking in their lot but it can get packed so come early. Great spot for watching the game on tv. Cosmo - Whoo! This was so delicious and STRONG but in a not gross way! They fill those martini glasses to the tippy top too so be careful! Don't be a klutz like me and spill 2 bucks all over yourself! Cheese Flatbread - Had that "cheap" pizza taste that you don't really mind and eat the whole thing anyways. A good size for 1 or 2 if you're sharing multiple apps. Wow! My first visit to The Ramp was amazing. We got seated immediately on the patio by the hostess and had excellent service from Alex. The staff was very friendly, the food was delicious, and this was the best $7 Jalapeño Margarita I've had. I'm pretty sure the rim was salted with Lucas, not Tajín. There are a few areas to dine in, when I made our reservation I chose the dining room, which is a cozy area in the back. We started with their cheese garlic bread which was yummy. I ordered the linguine pesto which has chicken, sun dried tomatoes, and artichoke in it. I must say it was delicious. My husband ordered their Saturday/Sunday Prime rib... let's just say he cleaned his plate. It was a good size cut of prime, baked potato and linguine. I am glad we finally decided to give them a try! The Ramp ramped up its charm when we dropped by 3 weeks ago. We started off by having Manhattans (2 @ $12 ea.) Then some yummy fried zucchini ($10) and a bowl of minestrone ($10) Everything tasted great. Portions were more than ample. My Charbroiled Cheeseburger was GREAT and so were the accompanying fries. Abbe's Chamberoni a la Checca (sauteed large shrimp in olive oil, garlic, shallots, sun-dried tomatoes, roma tomatoes, hot peppers, with marinara sauce, served over linguine) was equally flavorful. And the breaded zucchini was...you guessed it: Great. Likewise the service. Even the crowd was colorful and interesting to observe. We're so glad we circled back to try this quirky, cozy little joint again. I hate to be repetitive but we really had a GREAT time. And I usually don't give 5 stars. Nice hidden spot near the freeway. We were trying to look for a good happy hour so decided to try this place. We ordered three items on the happy hour menu. We got the Cheese Ravioli , Wings & the Garlic Cheese Bread. Portions were really small even for two people, like kid portion size so beware of that. We only got about 2 small wings each, 2 raviolis each and split the garlic bread. And we also split the pesto pasta. The pasta was ok. We still felt hungry after that so we had to eat somewhere else after. I have been to a lot of many different happy hours , I have never seen portions so small before . I think the prices should be lower for how much little food you get. However our server was very nice and attentive and the drinks were made beautifully and they were strong. I grew up in Burbank and would always drive by this place, but I never actually dined there until last night. Let's just say this is a hidden gem. The ambience is dark and cozy, casual vibe, with great background music. So dinner, we started off with the clam chowder soup on a Saturday night which was delicious, not too heavy. Followed by my personal choice, the halibut, my brother enjoyed the prime rib which is offered in a variety of sizes and my mom the salmon. All plates served abundantly and rich in flavor. Our server, I think her name was Michelle, was delightful. She was very engaging and made us feel right at home. I found it under a dollop of undercooked rice. This would have never passed dining in. It was Thanksgiving night when I took my granddaughter out for dinner so I expected elevated noise and slower service because it was busy. My rating is based on my experience the night I went. Pros: It is a cute place. Very "neighborhood secret mom & pop" vibe. They have a decent happy hour menu and lots of tvs for sports watching. The crowd seemed to be a bit older (which I prefer as I am too). They offer free valet parking. They offered a traditional Thanksgiving dinner as well as their usual menu. The Caprese was good. Again, it was a holiday so I gave grace for that but here we go: Con's: The parking lot is micro sized. It is right next to the freeway onramp and a gas station so there isn't much real estate for a lot. I was definitely concerned my car would get dinged. Didn't happen though. I had reservations for two. I arrived on time with my OBVIOUSLY underage 13 yo granddaughter and the Hostess tried to seat us at a hightop in the bar area. If front of the giant tv showing football that grown people drinking were watching. Nope. I asked to sit in the restaurant area. Didn't want my granddaughter in the bar. Common sense, right? Several reviews mentioned slow service and it was busy so I expected that. But this is on a new level. We sat with closed menus for over 10 minutes waiting. The only reason the waiter came by was because he was setting up for a large party and finally noticed us. We ordered our appetizers, dinner, and drinks. Salads came out. Bagged salad with nothing added, blah. The appetizers. Then the main dish. Both of us had pasta dishes. The grand had spaghetti and I had cappalini pomodoro (sp?). Mine was the most bland dish ever! Not one bit of seasoning at all. No garlic. No basil. Nothing. What Italian place doesn't offer or put cheese on pasta???? I had to ask for Parmesan. There was no bread for the table. When I first walked in, this place reminded me of a local neighborhood bar that offers a variety of comfort food in a comfortable, cozy atmosphere. We tried their pasta spaghetti and it was very tasty with pasta cooked to perfection. It was simple, but yummy and creamy. Service was quick as we ordered it to go. Food is always very good. Been going here about a year. Service tonight (taco Tuesday) was very slow. Seems like there's only 1 chef and waited 20 to 25 minutes for 2 salads. Wine pour is embarrassing. The amount in the glass is an insult. Maybe a 4 ounce pour for more than 10 bucks. First glass tasted flat. Had to get a fresh bottle opened. Don't order wine if you expect a decent size pour. Ambience- I told the manager that being a musician, it drives me crazy when they play 2 different background music tracks that overlap into the dining area. The bar music (being louder) comes right thru the open section space and is right on top of the lower ambience music in the dining area. Unfortunately, you can hear both! The staff seems tone deaf. Hard to hold a conversation. Can't believe the management thinks this is OK. Don't go here when it's crowded. It gets way too loud. 4 PM on a Monday seems to be good :-) read more

This is the place for great Italian. It's not that big, and the bar takes up a big part. When you enter, you enter via the bar. Once you go back to the main seating area, you will see small. Still, it works. The place was once owned by the mayor of Burbank, who knew! I can't recall the name of it then, nor do I care. The ambiance is okay, but any place that plays AC/DC Highway to Hell scores big points. I opened up with a shrimp cocktail.it arrived in a massive goblet with several plump and fresh shrimp. The cocktail sauce and lemon worked. My friend had the cheese garlic bread. He liked it. For the mains, my friend had Portfofino Pasta and really liked it. I went with Camberoni a la Checca. Which comes with shrimp, hot peppers, sundried tomatoes, Roma tomatoes, marinara sauce, garlic and shallots, over linguini. It's a bit spicy but not overbearing like Shrimp Diablo. The garlic was limited and didn't do damage to the dish. I asked them to remove the butter which they cook in, and they did. This dish was a home run. In my quest to find the best Italian place in LA without breaking the bank, and within realistic driving where most folks reside, i.e the valley, a bit of the outer areas and Santa Monica area, so far this is the best. Service is solid. I learned that one server, named Joaquin used to own a big time Mexican restaurant for 40 years but a partner drove the biz into the ground. Anyway he wasn't our server but a nice guy. The menu online prices are not accurate. For example the shrimp cocktail is 17.95, not the 13.95 they show. I went in for happy hour. The specials were great! I had a few lemon drops and tried the zucchini and cheese bread. They were pretty good. The service from the bartender was great. Very attentive and friendly. Maybe I went in at the wrong time because the crowd was a bit loud. It was hard to listen to my tables conversation. My pizza also took a long time. I often say you can tell a lot about people by the reviews they write. I hope you can tell from mine that I *love* good food! The Ramp offers incredible food and drinks, plus attentive service. After two of our fave Italian restaurants closed, we went without for a few years. We learned about this place (on an episode of Rockford Files, no less!) and knew we had to try it. The dishes we've enjoyed here include Chicken Parmigiana, Garlic Cheese Bread, Side Salad, Seafood Combination, plus the Steak and Shrimp. All of the food was simply fantastic and priced appropriately. We've also had some desserts here and I can't recall what they were other than delicious! The warm atmosphere and romantic music in the dining room make for a great date night. I don't understand other reviewers' concerns about the valet. We've never had an issue. The parking lot is tiny and an economy with plenty of jobs is a healthy one. People need to work in a capitalist society; calm down. Since baseball season is getting started soon, we plan to come back and watch some Dodgers games in the bar. So this place is old, old, old school. And that's part of its charm. The moment you walk in you can sense the age of the place. We walked through the bar and into one of the two back dining areas. We had no expectations in terms of food quality, but thought we would give it a shot anyway. I had driven by it many, many times over the years as a result of using Burbank Airport for business trips. We thought that $15 for a shrimp cocktail appetizer of five good size shrimp was actually a pretty good deal so we both ordered one of those to start. Because we were both really hungry, we also ordered at the same time the "best homemade garlic cheese bread" - I don't know if it's absolutely the best on the planet, but we both really enjoyed it a lot more than we expected, and I could taste the garlic in the background which tempted us to ask for another full order. I overheard the waiter telling somebody that he made the lemon lime cheesecake and some other desserts, and my ears picked up because we were planning on dessert, but also because it is so rare to actually have the kitchen chef serving you at your table. I love that, amazing! In order to save room for those desserts, we decided to share an entrée, choice was mine, and I selected the Portofino Pasta dish. So that we could share it and because Mr. Picky doesn't like mussels and clams, I said we would pay extra to eliminate those and have the dish made with only shrimp and scallops in the pink sauce served over fettuccine. Another nice surprise! The pink sauce on the fettuccine was a great match for the seafood (nicely large shrimp with the scallops), and we both said we'd order that again. The salad dressings are all homemade and we tried the blue cheese which as a side salad add-on was a very modest $2.25, would have liked a stronger blue taste, but want to try the others as well Then we got to the very important desert round. Given that many of the desert are homemade, we struggled trying to make a decision on what we would each order. in order to avoid divorce court, we decided to order for homemade items and those included carrot cake, piña colada cheesecake, lemon lime cheesecake, and chocolate mousse cake. Mr. Picky liked the carrot cake, while I liked the tart and not overly sweet lemon lime cheesecake, as well as the very soft chocolate mousse cake. This place was a really nice surprise! Will we be back? Yes, absolutely! It's a 4.5 and I'm awarding 5 for the nice surprises. What an incredible surprise to walk into what I imagined to be a suspicious choice of eatery next to a freeway ramp and see a really cute romantic restaurant inside. From the outside, the place appears like it might be a bit of a dive, but it's a don't judge a book by its cover kind of place. The inside was really nice. The first room is a sports bar kind of casual bar area with really cool lighting and photos along the wall of what I guess are celebrity patrons from the past. However, we were there for dinner and sat at a cozy table for two in the middle area - I did note a third room in the back with a cool mural and large round table for parties - which was used for a bday party while we were there. We had the best server and he sold us on the cheesy garlic bread with bleu cheese dip. Ridiculously delicious. Really could have been the best bread I've ever had. He said that everything was good but the seafood and pastas were all excellent. I ordered the spaghetti with meat sauce and meat balls and my bf ordered a seafood pasta. My dish was perfect. Like this place is my new favorite restaurant. I loved the ambiance and the food and the service. I had no idea what I would encounter once those doors opened.
