This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I have stayed at cheaper hotels and received better service etc. Also, at least at the "cheap" hotels you absolutely know what you are going to get. Here you are sold a wolf ticket and being told you are going to see the best show on earth. Upon arrival to the room I noticed water on the floor which was not a result of mopping due to the fact that the floor felt sticky. The floor was also filthy. One walk across left the bottom of my feet dirty. In the bathroom there was scratched off paint as if someone or something was fighting for their life to get out of the bathroom. There was also dirty hand prints on the wall of the bathroom that had no place to set toiletries or clothing. There was also no bar soap and the coffee had not been refilled. We were staying for 4 nights and there were only two coffees. One of the biggest issues was the lock was broken on the door, as if someone had forced their way in or tried to force their way out. Very unsafe for a ground level room, especially considering plenty of addicts seem to stay here and party all night. The room also had no proper ventilation, no ceiling fan, and an old box fan that had paint all over it. The fan barely did anything and even at 55 degrees outside the room remained HOT. I also had to crawl on the floor behind nightstand to find somewhere to plug it in. Even with all this and more there was push back about switching rooms because they supposedly never do that on the weekend when a room is unsafe? They said they had to clean the new room and I had to missed a family event to wait for new room to be cleaned and moved into (no help offered). Then that room was slightly better but the floor was still filthy and the soap in the bathroom was just set in the caddy after epoxy they attached it with failed. I had to get my own socks dirty so that my feet would say clean. The beds are way too soft and you have to sleep in the center to feel like you aren't going to fall off. The water pressure is non existent. The customer service was spotty. Pet fee not explained well at all but that was all my fault according to person who explained that they HIGHLIGHTED the information. Very young people who work there who are made to put up with all the BS owners and management make them deal with. How are they to know? It's too bad, it is a wonderful location. I hope they can update someday so that it might be worth what they charge and match what they advertise. This was my one vacation this year. It was no less than awful. Aside from putting us in a safer room, the staff did nothing for us. Up to $275 a night for what? So disappointing. Update: They ended up giving us a night+ refund for our troubles. While most certainly appreciated, I feel like it was the smallest band-aid on the biggest cut. Update 2: they replied saying that lock was operational. When you put safety lock over door you could still open the door. So NO, not operational. And they said that maintenance said it worked. Nope the nice maintenance worker did NOT say that. So on top of everything else, they are now lying. read more

Cons- black mold in the restroom, found a half eaten strawberry on the floor by the trash bin, sliding door is old and very loud & u can't lock the screen door and it had a large tear that flies and bugs can get through. If staying on lower level rooms u can hear the top rooms movement it is very loud. Overpriced, Nothing around except the restaurant on site, u have to drive to the shops and restaurants, not too far though, I just used DoorDash. No air conditioning. Patio is not private like I thought it was on the picture. My dog and I had a good stay, but I won't stay again they need to fix the mold issues, the sliding doors and screen door, and price needs to reflect what your getting, paying $400 including the discount price for two nights on a weekday is not worth it. read more

This review is for the great customer service I received. I booked third party for a one night and brought my new addition golden doodle. Once we arrived in the room she started barking like crazy, high pitch bark. I was like ok, new environment, let me take her to the beach and tire her out. After 2 hrs of running and playing we returned to the room and same thing. I didn't use anything or unpacked my stuff from the car yet but I didn't want to be a disturbance to others staying, I requested a cancel and to eat the cost but the manager on duty was so kind that if I called my third party they would authorize an ok to cancel. This is my 4th time coming to this inn and I really love it. The king suite room has a full bay view and a semi-private balcony. My room has a shower only - no tub, small fridge, and a Keurig coffee maker with coffee. There is an outdoor pool a few steps away and the inn is close to a golf course. The front desk staff are super nice and helpful. It's about a 4 hour drive from LA (due to construction on the 101). The parking is free. The on site restaurant and bar is nice and there are other restaurants about 10-15 minute walk. read more

I really liked that this place was dog friendly. The little pathway to the beach down the road was also a nice touch. It was quaint and so peaceful (which is exactly what I needed). The room itself was pretty basic, and we had to crank the heater because it was a little chilly. If you're thinking of sightseeing around the town, you'll probably have to drive there. So we stayed here a couple months ago and we stayed in room 406 which we had stayed in a couple months prior to that. The room itself was OK. The bed was horrific. It felt like sleeping on cardboard on the ground and the sheets felt like sand were in them. They were not comfortable at all. The bathroom shower is really bad because if you turn it on, it's full force and if you don't put the shower curtain just right it flooded the entire bathroom which I don't feel like I need to be worried about if I'm using a hotel. Today I got an email from them with a link to click on. I called and come to find out their email has been hacked. I just don't really recommend this hotel. I feel like the management doesn't care about the upkeep and customer service is not always great. There's a hole that's been with a cone for almost a year now because we've stayed here at least three or four times and nothing's fixed. Everything seems to still be dilapidated and falling apart. The restaurant on property has BEAUTIFUL VIEWS but pricey terrible food. The lobster was a joke/looked like a shrimp, the steak was not cooked to order, the fish and chips had cold french fries. Very understaffed waitstaff (very slow yet friendly). I'd say just get drinks and an appetizer to enjoy the view and drive to other more reputable restaurants. The exterior would benefit from a good power wash, the carpets are ready for a deep clean or an upgrade to vinyl flooring, the floors were very dirty, we couldn't walk barefoot,the backs of our feet were dark from dirt, the room walls could use a wipe-down, and the bathrooms need some attention--especially to tackle the common issue of mold (a better fan or vent might help). Bed sheets were awful the pillows were nasty. Pink bacteria and black mold in shower... we didn't go near it! Terrible saggy bed. Dog poop bags and litter on the grounds. The location of the inn was great--it's just a short drive from downtown, which made it easy to explore the area. Unfortunately, my overall experience was a bit of a mix of highs and lows. When we first arrived, I was disappointed because the pictures on their website didn't really match what we saw in person. One star for the great location. Period. Almost $400/night for unkept and small sized room with what they claim to be two queen sized beds but are full size. Don't let the pictures fool you. It was one of the most uncomfortable mattresses I've ever tried to sleep on. Cheap quality that have so much wear they sink in the middle of the bed. Horrible. The shower is dirty and moldy. The exhaust fan is filthy. Scuffed paint throughout the room. The vinyl flooring is coming up in certain areas of the room. Maybe that's why the floors don't get mopped. Be sure to bring slippers if you must stay here. Paper cups are provided for coffee. At the nightly room cost, there should be at least cheap ceramic cups for guests to use. The window adjacent to the entry door into the unit does not lock. So much for the security of one's possessions while out of the room. The wifi barely works. The grounds are unkempt. This property is way past its prime. Give it back to the birds! The lower parking area has started to erode and is being reclaimed by the bay. Just look past the white fence put up to camouflage reality. The property is adjacent to a big bird sanctuary, which means big poops all over the cars, property, and guests, if not careful when walking about. Yes, we got crapped on. Nothing against the birds, but beware. There is a restaurant on-site with a great view. On Saturday night, there was one couple dining with the whole place to themselves. My son had a dessert the night before, which was okay for the price. Unfortunately, it does not seem to get much clientele. I was expecting much better. read more

Took my wife out on a date (which doesn't happen often with two young kids) and thought that this would be nice because it is on the water and close to home. It was a Wednesday so not very busy at all, but still took 5 minutes to get seated and nearly 15 minutes for anyone to come to our table once seated. The server seemed very distracted and overwhelmed, which is surprising since she only had 3 tables including us. We recently stayed at the Inn at Morro Bay for a week, and overall, our experience was quite enjoyable with a few minor setbacks. **Check-In and Staff:** The ladies at check-in were wonderful--welcoming and polite. They even let us check in early since our room was ready. The coffee in the reception area was delicious, and the groundskeeper was a gem, always friendly and polite whenever we ran into him. **Amenities:** The pool was lovely, a heated salt-water pool that we thoroughly enjoyed. Unfortunately, the jacuzzi was under repair and closed during our entire stay, so we couldn't use it. The inn's proximity to the golf course was fantastic for my husband, who loves golfing. We were also just minutes from downtown Morro Bay, making it very convenient. We also got to enjoy the Inns restaurant at happy hour. The wine pours are generous (but Chardonnays are not served chilled) and appetizers were pretty good. The coconut shrimp and garlic fries are a must order. Skip the calamari and sliders, they were nothing special. While enjoying our appetizers and drinks, we watched an otter float by in the bay. I ordered the lava cake to go so I could enjoy on the terrace. It was good but not quite $10 good. I will skip that next time. **Room:** Our room was very large and included a full kitchenette with a microwave, sink, and small refrigerator. However, the bed mattress was terrible--spongy and wavy. We prefer a harder mattress that holds its shape, but this one resembled a hill range after laying on it. There were also lots of spider webs and spiders in the room, mold in the showers, and water damage to the walls in the bathroom. The windows were moldy and covered in spider webs as well. **Service:** Maid service was by request only, which suited us fine since we are tidy and primarily used the room to sleep and get ready for the day. We had some trouble with the room phone--it always gave a busy signal when we tried to request more towels. We ended up just grabbing a few extra towels from the guy riding around in the golf cart restocking rooms. **Value:** The price was excellent. We paid $600 for a week on the coast, and we really can't complain about that. The view from our room was lovely, the staff was all excellent, and the location was stellar. Despite the state of the room, we felt the price matched what we received. **Overall:** Would we stay here again? Yes, because for us, the price and location outweigh the room's state of disrepair. As always with any place on the ocean, perfection is nearly impossible. Ocean air eats everything and forces a vigilant maintenance that can be very difficult in the environment staffing shortages that we face. Our room was clean. It was updated. The fireplace worked and heated the room well. The shower was just right, the soaps were nice (we almost needed a refill), etc. The bed was comfortable but maybe just a bit squishy for an edge sleeper like me. The balcony was fresh and clean and came with the promised view. The front desk staff was above and beyond. So friendly, always quick to help and engage in conversation about anything local. The gardens are beautiful, even after a disastrous, stormy winter. There are some parts of the property that are dated or run down, but again, it is the effect of ocean air. It looks like they lost a parking lot to the sea at some point. And, the grounds offer a lot of quiet nooks to sit and watch the bay and the birds. Indoor or outdoor. The room could use a refresh, new furniture, a remodeled bathroom, and a fresh coat of paint. The provided clock radio had a CD player which I'm assuming is ten years or older? The staff was very nice so it's not their fault. I hope management is willing to spend money for capital improvements because the Inn at Morro Bay has great potential. I booked a King room with a Garden View (for context) and the smell of mildew & cleanliness of the room was so bad. There's mold in the bathroom (hotel by the ocean is challenging of course) but the smell was so awful I had to sleep with a sweatshirt over my head to try to filter how bad it was. They sent a fan to my room and I slept with the slider door all the way open but I do not recommend this hotel for an overnight stay. Terrible, especially for what you pay. My husband booked us a 4 day away with a dog friendly hotel. I think because it is across from the golf course he thought it ideal! NOT. We drove from San Diego arriving around 6 pm on August 13. We went out to grab something to eat came back to the Inn and went to bed. The next morning reading the paperwork it was advised if we wanted our room serviced we had to advise the front desk by the night before by 8pm. August 14 I went to the front desk and explained could we have clean towels and empty the trash. Pleasant young man . Said for 4 nights we wouldn't bother to have our room made up daily. No problem. August 15 asked a young lady, not a problem . August 16 rude front desk and response! You have to tell us the day before by 8pm - duh??? I had asked 2 mornings and she checked a book and yes I had. So no more clean towels or emptied trash for our last day. So now I started to take notice of my surroundings more! I asked my husband how much he had paid for this less than Motel 6 standard. $200 a night plus $25 pet fee! What? The room was shabby for the price we paid!! The walls of the shower hadn't been scrubbed in some time with dirty grout . The fan vent didn't work so well and covered in dust. The toilet seat was mismatched and loose. The wallboard along the floor line in the bedroom was badly repaired after flooding from the bathroom . The mattress needed replacing as it badly sagged that one could roll off either side if too close to the side. The headboard cover in the middle was ripped and pinned (??) To hold it! Because we were relegated to the 'dog' area of the hotel is this to be expected? Very nice washrooms in the reception! Did someone forget to do improvements in room 302 and probably to whole block! First off, lovely location in the Morro Bay State Park. So many amazing birds and the view of the bay is awesome. Staff was friendly, restaurant decent. The room seemed to have been recently updated, but the bathroom was pretty bad! Unfinished patches with mold, totally unsafe. I can imagine the upkeep of such a large place takes alot of work and this place needs an overhaul. For the amount of $$ I paid to stay 3 nights, maid service and a continental breakfast would be appreciated. This place used to be great unfortunately, they have forgot customer service and the fact we PAY to stay here. When we checked in, a "fee" (previously not mentioned when I pre booked on their website) was added to the total. When I asked why there was an increase in the price from what I prepaid? I was quoted the "per night fee." I explained, the reservation was booked on THEIR website and was prepaid, in fact not even refundable. Unfortunately there was no explanation as to the attempted change in my price until a thin female at the other counter said it's(yet another) "refundable" deposit for who knows what. We were able to find on the receipt what the additional unmentioned fee was for. Yet, I was treated as if I was an inconvenience for noting the increase in price and asking why. while I was simply trying to rectify why my fee had changed from my pre-booked rate. Unfortunately that's not the only issue we had. While checking in I was "informed" they no longer clean the rooms daily ( folks COVID is over STOP cutting corners) this is just an excuse! I was informed we could have our room cleaned daily by request. I said perfect! "Can I have our room cleaned daily please?" To which the response was "oh no" you have to call the morning of "so we can tell them." I said awesome "I've made the decision now, can we have them do it everyday we are here?" Again "oh no we have to have you call the morning of." I asked well hey I know now what we need and again the answer was the morning of "so we can tell them." Apparently I work here now too I guess and am responsible for the daily organization of staff and tasking! I asked, as per their website, can we get a late check out on our last day. Again "call us the morning of so we can know." this place has failed to remember I'm paying over 300 a night, their website, explains the supposed procedures, and I DON'T WORK HERE!" I don't clean my room for you! I asked at the time of check in and was told it was my responsibility to set it up every day if my vacation...What a shame. We have been coming here for years but this has turned into the Nickle and dime "DIY" hotel. They spend a lot of time painting and taking care of the outside appearance of the hotel but have forgotten customers pay a premium for the rooms. Tile is loose, floor is creaky, lots of black mold on the ceiling and unpainted spackle drywall repairs in the bathroom. These are not difficult repairs and the easiest part do the repair is painting over your repair! It is just about the easiest thing you could do! but nope. Our trash cans filled quickly but since. I guess I work here now I had to empty them and take them out myself!!! What a joke It's sad to see this place fall so far. I hate it but this will be our last stay at this failing hotel. read more
