Well, not much to.say other than: $180 for the room was not worth the accommodations. Plus and extra $70 dollars for my small dog. Lumpy bed. Coffee maker didn't work. Phone in room didn't work. Confusing remote controls for the TV. Dirty "ocean view" windows. Rickety elevator. Pros: Close to the ocean. Moonraker restaurant (which is delightful and delicious )is right across the street. The front area has a pretty decent snacks, beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages. There is no other food available after 9 pm other than the Shell gas station. The famous Taco Bell Cantina is about a 5 minute car ride. Breakers cafe and the Shore Shack are available for breakfast/lunch. Easy check-in and check-out. Easy parking. I would not stay here again unless it was an absolute emergency. read more

Since the last time I stayed here, this hotel has unfortunately went downhill. My first room had plumbing issues, so moved to another room. This room had a stained bedspread, a giant hole in the wall right by the bed and the floor was soft and mushy all in front of the window. I felt like it may fall through if I stepped on it. I stayed for one night last Saturday with a friend and we were very disappointed. We asked if early check in was possible since we were in the area already (check in time is at 4) but they said the rooms were still being cleaned. No big deal we totally understood. After we finished walking around, we waited in our car until 4. Went back to the reception area but they lady had stepped out to check on the rooms. She eventually comes back and hands me the room key, but to our surprise we walked in the room and it was still not cleaned. We had to wait in the hallway with our luggage until the cleaning crew was able to make their way back down to clean our room. By the time we finally got in our room it's almost been an hour past check in time. On top of that the body wash was not refilled, the floor was dirty, and the ice bucket was not emptied out. The one star is for the nice lady working at the reception area, she was very apologetic and agreed I should get some sort of refund. But it's almost been a week since I have sent a follow up email and I still have heard nothing back. read more

So disappointed considering we paid $360 for one night! Our TV wouldn't turn on, we couldn't connect to Wifi, the floor felt dirty, and every time we sat on the toilet it moved. The toilet paper holder was broken and one of the towels had a hairball on it! Yuck. I told the front desk guy about the TV and WiFi when we checked out but he didn't really seem to care. Wonderful location. But no one was at the lobby to check us in for about 15 minutes...they had a bell, but it was behind the desk, unreachable to the customer... Room had a broken toilet paper roller holder, missing remote battery door, elevator is really old and squeaky, uneven flooring like they added layer over layer of flooring...without ripping the flooring to the base layer before installation. The outdoor soda machine is rusted and they painted over the rust from the salty air, and it's bubbled. The AC and heater works good, but the room temperature control is only for looks...they had shower amenities. I appreciate that they had little, for environmental reasons, like one shower cap for four people. We didn't use it, so it was appreciated that only one was there. The floor was pretty dirty. But we brought our own slippers. I like that they do not provide slippers as it is a huge environmental waste. The plastic rubber bolster pillow was tacky, unusable and pretty sure is VERY dirty. Window a had dust and tiny deceased fruit flies. Sheets were fine. Many electric sockets and usb outlets. Loved that. Again, location was GREAT! Right next to the beach and the mini downtown. I rented a room for four nights based on pictures in the internet that showed rooms with a sea view. In the rental process there was no option for sea view, so we assumed that all rooms were facing the sea. I have book 1.5 moths in advance, but when I arrived they said that they did not have any sea view room, in spite of having some 100 rooms facing the sea, and have putting me and my wife in a room facing a parking lot, in spite of having still rooms available today, under the excuse that everybody had asked for a sea view room, what does not seem true to me. Seeing my disappointment and even anger the attendant told me that he thought he might have a room with a sea view where he could place me and that he would call my room to confirm. I waited some 2 hours for the confirmation and when I checked the phone I noticed that it was completely dead and the plug was not accessible, behind an heavy furniture. I went down to the office to talk to that person, but instead of him was a woman that seemed to be the owner or the manager and completely over-rid her employee and told me that no way she could find me a room with a sea view. We were hoping that this could be the place in the Bay Area that would be our go to since my wife has family on this area, but giving the deceitful nature of these people we surely will not. Their usual rate is about $120 per night but now I am paying over $250 per night because there is some extra demand... Not very nice people to deal with... read more

Excellant! Had a cram view with sounds of th sea lulling me to sleep each nigh. I've stayed many times and could even see whales from my window feeding around 4-5 in evenng. I highly recommend Inn at Rockaway! It's close to good z restaurantsestaurant like The Lighthouse Inn has a delicious menu and bar for cocktails!!Breakers for food from 10-3pm. Very disappointed with our stay there. The room was dirty, it was very apparent not much time was spent cleaning it. Our TV didn't work and the girl at the desk said a handyman would be at the hotel shortly and he could check it out then. We were staying at this hotel instead of the one right next door (where our Corvette club was) because we had our little mini schnauzer with us. So, we already couldn't be hanging out with our group, then we didn't even have a TV to watch. We checked with the clerk again and she said there was nothing she could do. The next morning when checking out, we asked for a call from the manager. We never got that, but didn't expect them to follow through. Oh, all that for almost $300 for the night. A DECEIVING MARKETING OCEAN VIEW ROOM 1st of all we booked a full ocean view room. We arrived trying to check in took more than 45 min to get the key. We went to room 208 -- u can the smallest window that doesn't open with ocean view. The other 3 big windows u can see the back of restaurants and street... what about shame.. The hotel though have full ocean view if u go 3rd floor at the end of hallway but for deceiving marketing when u book any tiny ocean view get booked under ocean view. So when u book the room it is no ocean view or ocean view - they don't market partial ocean view rooms.. so it is ur luck to get a full real ocean view or not... In addition today is a special day/mother's day weekend and the hotel had 1 person only at front desk to help with hotel check in and any other issues with the rooms. It caused long line and long time to check in and frustration build up.... By the time we got the key we were so tired and then when checked the room and it shows partial but then no other rooms available with a real ocean view and we couldn't get refund... I can say hotel management is not good as they had 1 person to support the whole hotel needs on a special day and full hotel occupancy... We tried to get refund it didn't work out even the windows only one window open about 5 inches wide and that's it. I wouldn't advise people who really paying for full ocean view to book in this hotel... Room size is small and tight.. I am really disappointed in this hotel and it is our last time to stay in it... It ruined and wasted our 1 night vacation today few hours spent between check in , arguing on the room type and expectations, so tired and we have to be on hold trying to contact 3rd party/Expedia to contact the property to request a refund as the booking was non refundable but in our case it was a deceiving marketing.. We know pretty well what ocean view means from partial ocean view... My husband and I came to Inn at Rockaway over the weekend to celebrate our Anniversary. First take of the hotel is it looks pretty run down but its very close to the beach which was why we booked a room here. We walked into the lobby and the front desk lady was super nice and welcoming! Check-in was a breeze. I wish zero stars was an option, well the proximity to the beach is a plus, but with everything else wrong with staying here not sure if its worth it. The elevator was not working, and of course our room was on the third floor. This should be disclosed when you book your room, I have a knee problem and going up those stairs with my suitcase was not fun, had it been disclosed while booking, I wouldn't have booked. Also the front office told us the elevator was out AFTER we checked in. The stairs going to the rooms are disgusting and filthy. At first glance the room seemed nice, but at a closer look around there were several things that were not ok. The tub was DIRTY it had stains as if it hasn't been thoroughly cleaned in some time. I gave it a scrub down myself. The floors were dirty and grimy. You are unable to walk in there in your socks or your socks will end up BLACK from the dirt. The shower did not have any shampoo in the shampoo dispenser, we didnt bring our own, and housekeeping didn't have any little bottles of shampoo. The little lotion that was in the bathroom was half full. A very annoying part was that their TV satellite was down the whole time we were there. There was only ONE channel we can watch and it was playing one gory detectives show on replay. We called the front desk and they said they were working on it and it would be fixed in a few hours. That never happened. My husband is the type that likes to have the TV on for background noise while getting ready ect....and he loves watching TV as a way to relax! We did have a nice view of the ocean from our room, we were steps from the beach. Overall its a HUGE bummer this was such a bad stay. I only stayed here a year ago with that rave review and I'm not sure if we just got lucky with the last stay, unlucky on this stay, or if this place is going downhill quickly. We got in late, front desk stayed up for us since we called ahead. She was nice. They now charge $15 to park your car in their little lot which is unfortunate. Getting in to our room it was honestly gross. The top blankets were dirty and there were several little spots and hairs on the sheets but we didn't get into bed until really late and after unpacking a full full car and two sleeping kids so we just stuck with it. The shower floor is like starting to sag? Probably from water damage? Very weird feeling when showering and floor feels squishy. The room we stayed in, the shower head sprayed sideways and shot out of the shower when turning it on and trying to adjust temp so there was a fat puddle of water on the ground. The walls are dirty. Like dirty dirty. Even if everything else in your hotel is sparkling, you've got to put the time into things like clean walls or it makes everything seem dingy. The air conditioner makes horribly loud sounds but it's too musty to not have it on while sleeping. Idk I'm just really disappointed by this stay and won't be back again unfortunately. read more

Had the opportunity to stay here for 2 nights in November 2021. There were shops to walk to nearby, walking trails on the hillsides and a few decent seafood restaurants to dine in. Rockaway Beach had many regular surfers and fishermen on a daily basis. Nice views, easy to locate off Highway 1. If I was in the area, I'd definitely stay here again sometime. I normally do not comment or rate anything but really wish I'd had more info before booking here. There are some good points but they are overshadowed by the negative; mostly the horrible bed. I wouldn't stay here again. Here's some more detail, with a rating between 1-5 Hotel Property = 2 A bit run down outside. Ground floor room doors open into the unsecure parking lot. Elevator is also outside, accessed from unsecure lot. There is a $10/per day fee to park in that same uncovered, unsecure lot. Room Overall = 3 Good size. Desk with spacious counter top beneath the TV. Hanging space (no closet) and 3 drawers built into desk/counter area. Separate chair between the bed and windows with a small TV tray type table next to it is convenient. There is a mini fridge and microwave which work fine but the single-serve Keurig machine was FILTHY inside water reservoir and unusable. Bed = 1 HORRIBLE. I don't mean "just not as good as home", this bed actually hurts! Had to get up several times throughout the night to sit in the chair due to back/hip/shoulder pain. Probably should've had a Zero rating. Bathroom = 3 Roomy & in decent shape with an exhaust fan. Water pressure is good but lighting is not (too dim). Location & View = 4 This property is so close to the ocean. There is a small motel and their parking lot in front of this property but you really can look beyond that to a nearly unobstructed view of the ocean. Just open the window to listen to the waves. No complaints! It's sometimes a challenge finding a family size hotel room without huge suite prices & this place was GREAT! We had Room 306 with two double beds & a sofa pull-out bed. Lots of space, huge bathroom, fridge & microwave...and a direct view of Nicks & the ocean! Vending machine on our floor but the reception office also had snacks, cold drinks & some alcohol available for purchase. $15 per day for parking. Very short walk to Moonraker's & Rockaway Beach. Only about 5 minutes to the beachside Taco Bell, Starbread (yum!!), etc. Another 5-7 minutes in the other direction for Sharp Park Beach. Would definitely stay here again! read more

Health safety is below standards and the maintenance and cleanliness of the room are below standards. I Stayed at the hotel in September 2025. The room we were given felt damp in the air, towels and bedding felt damp to the touch and the air smelled of mildew/ musty. I turned on the Mini-split heater to dry out the room. The heater had a odd smell coming from the fan and my chest started to tighten up. I turned off the heater and inspected the filters of the heater. They were clogged with dirt and mold. I washed the filters and reinstall them in the heater and ran unit. Additionally, the bedding and some towels had stains on them, and after my stay, I had bug bites on my legs. I will never stay here again. The management and ownership of this property needs to ensure the standards are maintained for a safe environment and cleanliness for people to stay at their hotel at the Inn at Rockaway. read more

When reviewing hotels the only real question is, "would I stay again?" The answer is, absolutely. The Inn At Rockaway seems to have been recently updated. It's an older building but it's in good condition. I stayed during the week so parking was ample but I can imagine it being tight on a weekend. The lobby was clean and the woman who checked me in was polite and helpful. I stayed on the second floor with an ocean view and it was nice. I slept with the window partially open to hear the crashing waves. The room was clean with a microwave and fridge. The bathroom had a strong odor of cleaning supplies which was comforting. It faded over time so it was not overwhelming. My only real complaints are minor. The ironing board would not deploy correctly. Had to just lay it on top of a table to use it. Also, the faucet in the bathroom barely extended past the counter which made it a little difficult to wash my hands without getting a significant amount of water on the counter. Like I said, minor issues. The hotel was clean and one block to the ocean. There is a small beach on the left side for kids but I would not categorize the beach as a swimming beach. The waves were strong on the right and the left side beach was small. Looked great for fishing and the surfers were having a good time. I'll be back. read more

Pros: quick walk to rockaway beach, parking onsite with covered parking options, ac was great, a lot of food options within walking distance (nicks seafood, moonraker restaurant, pacific java coffee, Breakers), front desk lady was super nice and made us immediately feel welcome. Cons: bed was uncomfortable & rickety, no body soap in bathroom, walls/floors seemed very thin we could hear everyone around us but luckily no one kept us awake. This is definitely a 3 star hotel. The view from our room is what makes it 3 stars. Upon entering our room there was a HUGE puddle of water under the AC unit and window. I immediately called front desk to just be told sorry. I thought it was odd there was no offer to clean it or move our room. The body wash in the shower was broken, had to ask the front desk for some. Bed uncomfortable, towels have seen better days.... Would I stay here again? Extremely Disappointed - Would Strongly Advise Against Staying Here I typically only write reviews for exceptional experiences--either extremely good or extremely bad. Initially, my stay here fell somewhere in the middle: not great, but not terrible enough to warrant a review. Check-in and parking were easy, but the room was noticeably small and poorly cleaned. Most concerning was the bed, which had a deep depression in the middle that caused back pain after just one night. Those issues were frustrating but manageable. What pushed me to write this review was what happened after I checked out. The day after my stay, I noticed an unexpected $157 charge on my credit card from the Inn. I called to inquire about it and explained the situation to an employee--only to be abruptly hung up on mid-conversation. It was not a dropped call; I clearly heard the receiver go down. I called back immediately, but my call went to voicemail. I tried again--same result. Over the following day, I made multiple attempts to contact them and left two voicemails. I never received a response. With no other options, I filed a dispute through my credit card company. Even if this was an honest billing error (which is already unacceptable), the complete lack of professionalism and communication is inexcusable. I will never stay here again, and I strongly encourage others to think twice before booking. This experience was deeply disappointing from start to finish. read more

Soft 3. At first appearance The Inn gives off a vibe of being very nice. Once you get past the shiny veneer it's just another worn out beach motel. Overall it wasn't a hazard but small things go un-noticed. First the FILTHY elevator carpet. Black with grime. The outdoor carpets on the floors outside the room same. The room itself appears clean until you look close. Dust on the horizontal surfaces. Toilet had racing stripes from a previous guest blow out or maybe a housekeeper got some bad clams I don't know for sure. The toilet paper was not refilled leaving us very little. We called down and had to go get more ourselves. Should have been handled at room turn over. I found brown stains on my bed linen. I'm not certain it was changed because the bed did not look properly made. It was rumpled as if the cleaner just pulled it all up and tried to smooth it out. The Inn just needs some serious updating. Oh yeah stop charging $10 for paying guests to park and fix your soda machine. Jeez! read more

Stayed 4/24 in room 311- as soon as we walked in it smelled of urine badly.... I took my shoes off and went to go plug my phone in and bam stepped in what appeared to be dog pee? I looked at the wall by the bed and it looked as if a dog just peed on the whole wall. The room was absolutely disgusting, my spouse and I went to the lobby and the young man changed rooms for us. Room 206 by the elevator was okay, much "cleaner" than the first, still not clean by anyone standards. Came back to the hotel 4/26 stayed in room 207- again it was okay. I would not stay here again, if it was up to me I would have left and never returned after the dog urine.. totally disgusting. Would not recommend to anyone, my spouse will not return. He use to stay here often and said it use to be a good hotel- he is sad to see it go down hill so quickly. read more

As discussed with the manager, I was told I would have my full stay comped due to several very concerning issues with my stay including a very dirty room, being locked out of my room, due to staff disabling our keys - 6 separate times in the middle of the night with my 5 yr old where he had to sleep on the sidewalk until they came to let us in our room and the maid putting my belongings outside on the floor because "she thought we were supposed to checkout" that include threatening phone calls while I was at the hospital with a family member. I've yet to receive a refund and am leaving this temporary review until that is taken care of. I have pictures of the dirt and disgust at check in that includes dirty towels, food from previous guests left in our room, hair, dust, etc as the room was quite obviously never cleaned before we checked in. read more

I requested for a non-smoking room but the room that I got reeked cigarettes and the bedsheets and pillows had yellowish like fluid stains . Not even minutes after checking the room, I asked to be transferred to a different room but none available, they said. I decided not to stay and asked for a refund which the lady at the front desk promised to do but up until now they never issued the refund through Bookings.com and I was charged for parking fee that I didn't even used. The actual building makes a lot of creeks, bumps, and random noises as well . Parking was convenient but there wasn't a noticeable security presence. The area still felt safe & is literally seconds from the Beach. RATING An enjoyable environment with a mix of conveniences. It's underperforming in the areas of turnover & maintenance though. Three stars only represent the location of the place. The rest Id give it a 1 1/2 to 2 stars maybe. Robes were filthy...towels were really dirty....dirty washcloths were left in the bathroom.....no blackout curtain on the big window.....the climate control thingy under the window had vent filters that were way too full to be working and the vents where the air came out had not been dusted in a really long time. The elevator smelled nice the 1st ride but then what smelled like a wet rug was put in and it smelled like old feet. The walls were covered with what looked like sticky soda and left to dry. So much looked like it needed to be wiped down. I can never recommend this place to anyone. Good sunsets but im sure they had nothing to do with that. Peace. read more

An ocean view room that's dog friendly? Yes please! I came on a Monday so rates were super reasonable. There were quite a few people on the beach that is 100 steps away (maybe closer). My room (314) was clean with some updated touches (new TV, Keurig, lighted mirror, USB ports). The heater is a little old but it works. There are a few restaurants nearby and I ended up at the Moonraker. Also, Starbread is four minutes of driving away so that was my breakfast. Check-out was 11 and I thought that was very considerate. THE 1 STAR REVIEWS DON'T LIE! Wanna stay up late, listen to loud music, hear people move furniture, drop bowling balls, listen to herds of wild beasts run across the floor or giant toddlers stomp their feet until 3am then have them start again at 7am cuz maybe they hit the Red Bull? Well this is your place-go ahead and book it! Drop a few hundred bucks a night for a dirty room, rude and condescending hotel staff who try to bully you when you call them on their BS...but for rest and comfort, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. I booked a room for the weekend at this place. The price was over $200 and location was near the beach. I thought I would be getting a decent room with an ocean view. Little did I know that the room I got was disgusting. The sheets were not changed the floor was dusty and dirty to the point where you could see things that were not picked up, the desk chair looked like it hadn't been wiped down in a couple of weeks and the pillow cases were filthy. When I went down and let the front desk know they handed me new pillows, pillow cases, and sheets. They expected me to remake the bed. Really?! This is ridiculous, I am paying you to do a job. There stains under the sheets and dirt when I stripped them the drawers were sticky the floors was sticky I wanted a water and couldn't even get that due them just not having it and their vending machine being broken ,the worst part of it for me was the spiders behind the bed. The staff at front desk are friendly and had good attitudes, views of the beach and clean rooms are a plus here. The floor like others have said are cheap and peel up when walking on them. Arrived on Friday afternoon at 4 pm and their card key machine was not working. They said they'll get it fixed and bring keys to room. So they unlocked room, fine no problem. The next morning had to go to front desk to retrieve the keys since they didn't bring to room. Come back in evening and card key doesn't work, go back to front desk and had to get new keys made. No apologies or anything. The shower only had 2 temperatures: HOT AND Cold. No warm. This definitely made showers quick and uncomfortable. Most likely will not recommend. read more

This hotel was very nice to stay at. It was located right in the heart of Pacifica Square. The 42-room hotel is close to the beach but you can not see it. The only downside is the beds and air circulation. The bed was super firm and made it hard to get comfortable. Being so close to the beach, I would hope to have gotten more beach air. Only 1 window was able to be crached, which made it hot in the room. Though I am giving it a 4 star rating, I will still recommend it. read more
