I've been going to Insomnia in Lincoln Park for years and have never had any issues. I'd drive over an hour into the city just to get insomnia. My experience at this location was the exact opposite. I understand there's a pandemic currently and businesses have to adapt. I understand insomnia has to close their lobby by 10 pm. I prefer to give people and companies the benefit of the doubt, but some things are inexcusable. I arrived at this location at 9:50 on the dot. There were already 6 people in line inside, so I had to wait outside, as the door was locked. When a few customers recieved their order and headed to the door to leave, an insomnia worker came to the door and told me they clo se at 10 and he cannot let me into the lobby. He said I had to make a phone or web order. He said this to me at 9:52...there were still 8 minutes before 10. I obliged and made a web order right there on the spot, and Insomnia's site told me the order would be ready by 10:15. I waited by the door until 10:15 and saw everyone who came after me recieve their order before me. There was a gentleman I spoke to outside at 10:20 who I told to make an order online because the lobby was closed. He ordered 6 cookies, just like I did and he received his order at 10:35. I waited in line until 10:55 pm when the front door opened and the workers brought out about 10 boxes of orders for all the people waiting in line outside. The cookies were dry and hard, and it seemed like my order had been sitting there for at least a half hour before they brought it out. Horrible wait time for a horrible batch of cookies. This store holds a special place in my heart. I appreciate the fact that you can choose from a variety of cookie flavors and sizes, including ordinary and jumbo-sized treats. Always bring my cousin here, and we both have the cookiewich every time we come. Nevertheless, the previous time he chose a chocolate chunk cookie, a double chocolate chunk cookie, and cookie dough ice cream, while I chose their premium cookies, which are much larger and more imaginative, such as smore, Reece's peanut butter cup, and triple chocolate chip. Everything went quite well, and it is a good thing that we tried other items on their menu since otherwise we would not have discovered that the cookies on their menu other than what we typically have are really wonderful. I couldn't have hoped for a better experience from this shop, and I would suggest them to anybody who is looking for a similar service. On top of that, the cookies and the ice creams are also pricey. So I am guessing, they just want to keep everything on the high end. Aside from the prices, the quality of the cookies is AMAZING. For my very first visit, I got the basic (one scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of a white chocolate macadamia cookie). The vanilla ice cream was whatever, however, the cookie was delicious. It was so warm and soft. Melted in my mouth. For my second visit, we ended up getting only the cookies since a single scoop of ice cream was 4 bucks. The cookies were good, but at the same time, the ice cream was the reason why the cookies tasted so great last time. So it was a lose-lose situation. Something about this location was off. I was served by Jessica... who honestly had a nasty attitude which caused my insomnia experience to be terrible. My friends and I walked in around 3pm. There was two customers that just got served and left. Once we walked in, she told us to wait 5-10mins as she was alone and probably had to throw another batch of cookies in the oven. So, we patiently waited. We didn't make much noise and we didn't rush her at all. We just waited. Once she was done, we mentioned the promo that we were coming in for and she said there had to be a mim purchase of $5. However, no where on the website nor the Facebook page claim that there was a mim purchase of $5 needed. With that being said, we didn't fuss about this "new rule" and went with what she said. This company has ZERO customer service! They don't answer the phone, there's no way to contact them. I placed an order through Doordash that never arrived and after an hour it said "order is complete". I tried to call to find out what happened and it's all automated and there's no way to speak to a person. I don't care how good your cookies are, people remember crap customer service and getting screwed over. If you want to only use your delivery drivers, then remove your store from Doordash altogether. HORRIBLY DISAPPOINTED I placed an order on a Monday for a surprise birthday deliver for my brother (to be delivered at 11:30am on that Thursday). Thursday came and at 2:00pm when I never received confirmation of my order being delivered, I called. After being on hold for quite some time, I was informed that my order placed at the Wicker Park Insomnia Cookies WAS NEVER PROCESSED. Not only was it never processed, the store didn't even open until 2pm. Okay, so here is where I realllllyyyy got upset. The store never contacted me to fill me in on any of this. Instead, they passed the order off to another location (I'm unsure of which one) and get this, THAT LOCATION DIDN'T PROCESS THE ORDER EITHER. Folks, if I had never called, my order would have never been processed and delivered that day... they would have just stolen my money and never thought a thing of it. I ended up calling for a second time to ensure that the order had been delivered. The team told me they would "throw in some extras" for the inconvenience (note that there wasn't an actual apology from anyone). Well the "extras" they threw in was 1 extra cookie, whoop-de-freaking-doo. After paying an astronomical amount of money for cookies and having a horrible experience from start to finish, I would never recommend this location or any other Insomnia Cookie location. But the real reason I wanted to write a review was the great service I got when the Uber Eats driver Insomnia had used to get us our cookies during Super Bowl dropped them off at the wrong place. One call to Insomnia and they remade our order and dropped them off again (using their own driver) in 40 minutes. No problem at all, big apology, what great service! The lady working front was training, it was her first day. Despite this, she had great patience and was still kind. The food came out exactly right and it was great. I love Insomnia cookies. I really do, and I was going to treat my co-workers today as a Valentine's Day gift. However, today, the customer services in that location was a HUGE let down. I ordered online and according to their site, my delivery was suppose to be here at 12:00 p.m. After 15 minutes of being late, I thought maybe they're busy right now, but when I checked online on the cookie tracker: it said baking. I thought it was so weird that the order was still baking after an hour. So I called customer services at 12:40, and the lady told me that the driver called off. And if I want my cookies I can pick it up or wait for the afternoon driver, which he would arrive at 2:00. Two hours after the estimated delivery time! I had to cancel my order because we are closing early. No one in that location thought it was helpful to call their customers who ordered delivery and tell them that they don't have a delivery driver. Really unprofessional and really disappointing.
