Its a small place, you order to take out and theres 1 person serving customers I tried the strawberry matcha and mango sticky rice flavors, both of which were good. Refreshing and light, not too sweet, and unique. I appreciated that they had a vegan option for nearly all the available flavors. I scream for ice cream!! You'll be screaming waiting in line forever though Lines are long but worth it. Gotta come early or just get a pint from grocery stores. If you are going to stand in line, don't waste your time getting one little scoop. Get two. I didn't think these kids had a skill on scooping ice cream. I literally felt my second scoop was cheated. There are over 20 flavors, topping options, and cones! All the ice cream we got was delicious, SO heavy, and sweet. We came here on a Friday night around 7pm. There was no one inside when we got there but it slowly got busy. They are very fast at scooping and patient. You can even try samples. I've been a fan of Van Leeuwen for years and this visit was everything I hoped it would be! They have over 30 flavors including ones we all know and love alongside a few seasonal specialities. The shop doesn't have any seating, so be prepared to take your ice cream for the road. On opening weekend, there were consistently lines out the building and around the block. The employees were super friendly and efficient throughout. I sampled the limited edition Malört flavor before ordering the Italian hazelnut and marionberry cheesecake scoops. The ice cream, as always, was so flavorful and really tasted like it's made with high quality ingredients. I loved the pieces of cheesecake crumble and chunks of hazelnut in the scoops. The Malort was... authentic to its namesake. Can't say I recommend purchasing, but it's worth tasting for the novelty. Will absolutely be back soon and highly recommend! I have always been a fan of Van Leeuwen and I was excited to see them open a shop in Chicago. We decided to try the new malort flavor. The queue was huge but fast moving. The place is small. The malort icecream was so pungent, omg, felt like we took a malort shot. The icecrema flavor did justice to malort for sure. Checked them out opening weekend and the line was quite long, all the way to the intersection. Given how small the space is inside and ability to sample flavors it took a while for us to get in. Really good variety of flavors including ones that your average ice cream shop may not have... I wasn't daring enough to try the Mallort. Prices are steep but no surprise these days. The staff is friendly and does a great job interacting and serving customers. I'm not a big fan of ice cream when it's cold out so I likely won't return until spring / summer, hopefully they survive! read more

Definitely on the pricier side for ice cream but highly recommend the Mango Sticky Rice flavor! We went a few weeks ago and also got the Malört and Honeycomb. If you decide to get the Malört flavor I recommend adding the hot fudge and salted caramel. read more

BEST ICE CREAM IN WICKER. So yummy, so many good flavor options, and the staff is so kind and patient.

The store was at least 100 degrees inside and my ice cream melted within 30 seconds of being in my cup as I was paying inside the store.
