Definitely disappointed with the service today. My bf and I usually order from here and the cookies are delivered shortly after. Not sure what happened this time but I received a text at 9:33pm saying they would be here soon. Finally at 10:46pm we received them. The cookies were also cold, so it was a bit hard to enjoy them after the wait. The delivery drivers are usually pretty quick, but there was something off today. I understand that it's possible someone new delivered our order, but I still think it's ridiculous that it took an hour and 15 minutes from when we ordered it, to actually receive the item. read more

Who doesn't like a warm, gooey cookie? It's good for what it is but I'm not sure if I want to go back and pay almost $2 after tax for a bite-sized cookie (okay, maybe two bites). I think I'd feel better about it if it was even $2.5 for an actual cookie you feel guilty about eating. I got the white chocolate macadamia cookie without the ice cream but it was way too sweet. Actually like grainy sugary sweet. I can only assume it'll be sugar overload as an ice cream sandwich. I placed an order to be delivered to my grandson at college at 7:32 AM Eastern time (4:32 AM Pacific) to be delivered to his dorm at 5:30 PM after his Chemistry exam.They contacted him at 5:30 to tell him all they had was gluten free cookies. I called the customer Service number and they told me the ordered been canceled (without consulting me) because they ran out of cookies. I asked how this was possible as I had ordered so early in. the morning. I was told they bake cookies as they need them and when they run out, they run out, even if an order that was placed. If people walk in and want cookies they sell them without the ability to honor an order. To add insult to in jury they told me my money would be refunded in 5-7 days! I'm so thankful they're still open in the middle of this Corona mess. I run a small business and I met up with someone to make a delivery in Davis. But I live in fairfield. And I was craving some good, fresh cookies. I had been trying to perfect the chocolate chip cookie recipe and with constant failures for weeks. All I wanted was a good cookie, but I prefer to buy from local small businesses. Found this place on yelp, which was literally around the corner from where I was. I purchased a box of a dozen cookies. 3 plain chocolate chunk, 3 m&m chocolate cookies, 2 peanut butter, 2 snickerdoodle, and 2 white chocolate macadamia. It's only been a day since I've had these and I've taken at least a bite from every single cookie. They are ALL SO freaking delicious to PERFECTION!! Immediately when I got in my car after buying these, I tried the M&M and I also ate a whole white chocolate macadamia cookie. They were warm and soft and super fresh. They've truly nailed it. And it's the perfect comfort food for these stressful times we're currently in. And a good plus? The person helping me and ringing me up was so friendly and super sanitary! They have hand sanitizer for the customers, and the clerk was wearing gloves and a mask. Like a good mask. I live all the way in fairfield, but I'm considering making the 30-40 minute drive once I'm out of cookies. That's how delicious they are. Period. read more

I ordered Insomnia Cookies last night as a birthday splurge. They did not disappoint. We ordered a selection of cookies (pretty much each kind on the menu, but not the "deluxe" ones), and they were delivered within about 40 minutes, were still warm and gooey (and delicious), and the milk that came with them was icy cold. The cookies are a bit pricey ($1.70 each, or about $1.50 each in the 36 cookie box that we ordered), so this will probably not be a regular thing, but for a splurge now and then, I would highly recommend Insomnia Cookies. my experience: a college is not a college town until insomnia cookies are there. this place opened up fall of 2018 and has been a big hit in davis. it is located in downtown and the hours are pretty great for a college town. they also do deliveries which is great. i have walked past the store many times but i have never gone in. for my birthday, my friend ordered them for me and they got delivered to my dorm. i am on campus and i did not expect someone to come to my room and knock on my door. i am not sure how the delivery guy got up to my room but it definitely shouldnt have happened and i was expected a phone call at 5 pm to walk down and get it. food/price: she ordered for me 3 chocolate chip cookies + milk ( an offer she got!) plus 2 cookies: chocolate chunk and snickerdoodle. i was not the biggest fan of the cookies, although they were served warm. the snickerdoodle was not baked all the way (which is fine because it is a cookie after all) and the chocolate chip was just alright to me. the only thing i would have to say is that the size is inconsistent and if you look at my photos you can see that one is way smaller than all of them. they tried to hide it at the bottom and i understand since it is a deal, they didn't give the best looking cookie. however, i do not think that i would pay $3 for a cookie that small. price - 2 for $6.80 the total with delivery for this was $10.29 (delivery $2.99 + tip) service: not sure how they are in store, but weird that someone was able to get to my dorm and stand outside my room. notes: i would come try it but a little pricy! read more

I have never encountered service this terrible. The lady in the front (short brunette) greeted us by yelling to close the door, then refused to allow anyone to use the restroom. She seemed extremely irritated that we had even showed up. I left without purchasing and will definitely not be returning. Very cute little shop in downtown Davis! Perfect for a quick dessert and an even better late night snack. Cookies are served warm and soft. Even after being left in the cold car for a few hours, they remained soft and intact. All of the flavors melt perfectly together. Price is okay for the quality of cookies. My friends and I got three 6-pack boxes filled with snickerdoodle, sugar, chocolate chunk, white chocolate macadamia, mint chocolate, and double chocolate chunk. My favorites were the white chocolate macadamia and snickerdoodle! Overall, cookies are good and customer service was great! I will definitely be returning when I am in town. Recommendation: snatch the first parking spot you see and walk because downtown davis is typically hard to find parking in! read more

I do not say this lightly, but, I FRIGGIN LOVE COOKIES. I've been complaining for literal years that we didn't have a cookie spot in Davis. I constantly want a warm cookie and I almost never have access to one. Until now. Insomnia cookies moved in recently downtown and I was excited to see them finally open their doors. Their cookies are moist, warm, and just straight up delicious. There is also ice cream to choose from, they deliver, and can do all sort of specialty cookies. The downside is that there is a $3 card minimum and each cook is about $1.60 so you can't buy just one cookie and pay with card. I get why that is the case, but it can be pretty frustrating and would dissuade me from coming in if I really only wanted one cookie. Overall, I'll definitely keep coming here, and I'm pumped it's in Davis! read more

We came for the gluten free cookie (which normally is great!), but not today. The girl at the store explained that the gluten free cookie's ingredients were the same but they were just marketed differently. So we said "is it gluten free"? and paused and said .. "I think so?" We explained that this is allergy related so it's super important we actually know what we're buying, to which she explained "it's just new marketing." All the while we're literally standing in front of a sign that says "Gluten free" and she would not confirm it's gluten free. We were so unsure of what was going on with this employee that we decided to leave. My friends and I came to Insomnia Cookies last Thursday night after doing the usual downtown thing. Upon stopping in here, we were promptly and politely helped by Luke and Ethan. My friends and I weren't the greatest at deciding which varieties of cookies to order since there were so many that looked appealing, but Luke and Ethan were super accommodating to us so that we would be set up with a really good variety based on our group's wants. I have not tried their delivery service, but I just saw they were open the other day and went on in. The premise is very similar to the nearby CREAM, but I believe they charge more. I do like that they have nutritional information on their menu, which is hard to come by at dessert places. The cookies are a little overpriced, in my opinion, especially for a college town. But hot damn, they're really good cookies! You can also get a crap ton of ice cream with toppings. I plan to go back and try out a cookie sandwich at some point and some other cookies. I tried the classic chocolate chip cookie and it was delicious. It's great that they have a vegan/gluten-free cookie option. I hope they expand that to have more flavors and to include ice cream soon. This place has quite some potential! I hope to try their delivery option soon too. I wanted to give zero stars but that's not an option. The past three times I have been here, the girl at the register with black hair and a nose piercing is soooo extremely rude. When I walked in, she stopped talking with her coworker and just stood at the register and stared at me. I asked her if she's ready to take my order because it seemed like I was interrupting her and she said "uhhh yeah?!" with a major attitude. The other occasion I went, I was waiting for my cookies to come out of the oven and she packed them in a box and tossed them on the counter and walked to the back without saying anything. My friends and I ordered cookies from Insomnia ($32) and the cookies never came. We called two times about the inconvenience and they gave different stories each time. There was a misunderstanding between the driver and us the first time and so they said they'd redeliver our cookies. When they "came back" they never called to tell us they were here. When we called they claimed they delivered it and knocked on the door but no one showed up. He said they'd make it up to us. We then received a call from the store and one of their employees claimed the driver came into the dorm and delivered it to our room which never happened because we waited 4 hours for this delivery. Two different stories as the original one they claimed they knocked and no one was there. The employee was very rude on the phone and she was giving unnecessary attitude. It was disgusting and so unprofessional. On top of that I'm a member of Insomnia cookies ($10 dollar membership) which disgusts me how they treat their "members." If you value your time, don't come here as they do not care about their customers and members. Truly disgusting, unethical, and unprofessional. read more

My friends and I ordered some scrumptious cookies online from this (what we thought to be fine) establishment. We ordered our 12 cookie box ($25) while eating our Saturday supper, and the estimated delivery time was 45-55 minutes, very reasonable. We began all studying for our finals, as we intend to pass our classes, and lost track of time. We suddenly realized an hour and half had passed and we had received no notification about a cookie delivery, yet the tracking map said they had been delivered. After snooping around the outside our dorm building, we found no evidence of the claimed "drop off". So, we called them, and there appeared to be a misunderstanding about the account phone number and they said they would redeliver the cookies now that we had cleared up the issue. Wonderful news...right? Wrong. They claimed to have delivered the cookies straight to my dorm room, yet nobody ever knocked on my door much less delivered the scrumptious cookies that had been running through my head for the past 3 1/2 HOURS. It is now 12:30, and I have finally AT LEAST secured a refund after been given the run around and two conflicting stories about why I never received my cookies. Insomnia cookies was supposed to make my night, but they have instead ruined it. 0/10 do not recommend trying to deliver from here. Much too expensive and below standard delivery. The cookies are pretty tasty. Crunchy on the outside and chewy closer to the middle. Unfortunately, their customer service is not up to par. After being on campus for nearly 14 hours and dreading a 40 minute commute home, I wanted to bring some cookies home for my younger siblings. I found some difficulty reading the menu from outside(a cardboard bag went into my eye earlier so I had some difficulty seeing things) and so I walked inside. There was one group already in there and I did miss the sign that said one group inside at a time. Totally my fault, I didn't read the door upon entering. As I came in, one employee asked me if I was with the current group, I didn't hear it the first time because my hearing isn't the greatest and I had an empty stare and he repeated the question. After hearing it, I said no and he curtly said, "You need to leave the store now". I was perplexed at first until he followed up with, "We can only have on group in here at a time." Thats totally understandable, so I apologized and left the store to continuing trying to read the menu. After the previous group left, I came in to an employee who greeted me nicely and another one who kept staring me down like I terrorized something she held dearly. After giving my order, I asked to see the person who asked me to leave and when they did, I told the employee that, "I appreciate what you do, I'm glad you do it, I'm not mad at all, but I ask that you say it more pleasantly." They proceeded to go to the back and the employee closest to the wall had a quick remark that she repeated twice. "The sign one the door says one group at a time.". Now, I appreciate feedback because it helps people improve. That is not feedback and is completely unnecessary. Considering all the other reviews here as well, I do not think that my ask is unwarranted and would bring in more business and possibly even make his own day better when understanding customers come in. We are all humans and make mistakes. There is no need to be leave a snarky remark when someone had genuine feedback. I may come back but I may not. To the owner, if you endorse the behavior of snarky remarks, I will not support your business. To the person closest to the wall staring down every customer as they walk by like you don't want to be there, I hope you find something that lifts your spirits and I hope you treat other people better. read more
