Every Insomnia Cookies location is a shitshow. All of the employees seem miserable and there is 0 customer service when you go in. This location is no exception. They are lucky the cookies are good or I would never patronize this business again. I placed an order at 7PM through their own website!!! 8:05PM and the order has not arrived. I called the store twice about my order. They said they sent it out via Uber Eats. The Insomnia website tracker mentions nothing about Uber Eats and also says my order was delivered, so it is inaccurate. When I called the second time, the first person told me I had to call Uber Eats about the order. Why would I contact Uber Eats when I didn't place the order through them and it was Insomnia's choice to use Uber Eats for delivery? I argued about this because it's not accurate. Then, a second person got on the phone and said they are sending my order out again. Who knows if it will even show up. They have a nerve charging a $3.99 delivery fee for this bullshit. read more

In general, Insomnia Cookies is a great next-door-to-college-campus chain cookie store with warm, buttery cookies in a variety of flavors, and I've had good cookies a few times here before and not a bad experience until now because their customer service is horrendous. I docked multiple stars at this location near Columbia for their unprofessional service. A staff member was condescending when she refused to serve me the ongoing nation-wide Insomnia Cookies Halloween promotion, making up a rule that my "costume wasn't full-body". I don't really care so much about the fake rule (for the record, people loved my costume and makeup), but I am shocked at the way she was EXTREMELY rude, dismissive, and condescending to me as soon as I walked in to ask about the promotion, laughing at me and mockingly said "come back when you have a costume!". The lack of respect regarding this whole situation left me disgusted--and all over a single cookie! Popped in between classes and the deluxe cookies were hot and fresh straight out of the oven. They cool down pretty quickly though so be sure to eat them immediately or they'll harden up. As for the classic cookies (not pictured) they never seem to be hot out the oven (no matter what location you go to--save for 125th). Not sure why that is. Maybe because they're not as pricey as the deluxe ones or because they're free for cookiemagic members. Either way, if it's free it's for me. No complaints here. I've been eating Insomnia Cookies since I was in college at NYU, as it was founded by a few local alumni. Never found them to be particularly remarkable, however someone bringing cookies to an event with a bunch of broke college students is not going to go over particularly bad. Also the 'broke part' probably informed some of that opinion. Fast forward 10 years, and now on the UWS I live by their Columbia location. Things have come along, as it's a larger and nicer store. Prices are still on the high side for what you're getting, however at the end of the day are you really going to kill yourself over a $2.50 cookie? My favorites are the white chocolate macadamia nut, the double chocolate chip, and the chocolate chip in that order. It's great when they're fresh out of the oven, but the heating thing they keep them in does a good job. At worst that's what microwaves are for. If I'm going to grab takeout and want dessert, I tend to stop here to secretly grab shit. Definitely not worth traveling for, yet suffice to say I value this place a lot more than I used to. read more
