Insomnia cookies are so delicious! They come warm and soft and in a huge variety of flavors. This location is right in a nice spot on the campus of Drexel University. It is not that big, but its the usual provider of the deliveries. They also have ice cream and now cookie butter at the shop. I really enjoy their confetti cookie and snickerdoodle. They even have some new vegan flavors like orange cream sickle and rocky road which I found very cool. Definitely check them out. They really come in handy during the semester! read more

The cookies are good. This I cannot deny. They are a good portion; one will fill up your stomach enough that it does the trick of satisfying any sweet cravings you have. If you like mint I suggest giving the Double Chocolate Mint a try. It's hard to find a good mint flavored cookie, especially one that is freshly baked, so I was pleased with the end result when I received my order. The regular chocolate chip cookies are also good. However, they are extremely overpriced for essentially being just cookies. I get it, I get it - you can get them late into the night and you're paying for the charm and convenience of it. Additionally, if you look at the nutritional information they are nearly identical to most grocery store brand cookies in ingredients. Almost identical, except they put a ton more butter in. Not expecting this, I experienced severe stomach cramps and gastric distress due to the richness of the cookies. Good problem to have? Maybe, depending on how you look at it. So overall I like them. 3 stars on Yelp is "A-OK," which perfectly sums up my feelings about this place. Not ground breaking, not super memorable, but no regrets. For a cookie place, the cookie display is dismal. Unless you're a regular, you wouldn't know what your cookie options are until you're at the register, where the 8 or so varieties are displayed in a small basket. (These aren't the actual cookies you receive, they're just display) I was also a little disturbed by the pricing. I ordered a cookie a la mode, a cookie with a hearty scoop of ice cream, and it came to nearly $6. For a single cookie and a scoop of ice cream. Which would have been worth it if the cookie was one of a kind, but there wasn't much special about the taste of these cookies. The ice cream I ordered was a chocolate covered pretzel/caramel concoction, but it had hints of mint flavors, as if it had been scooped with a dirty spoon. Maybe I went wrong with the a la mode. We called about an hour and a half after ordering, we straightened out the situation, and we were informed that the cookies would be on their way shortly. So why did they show up another two and a half hours late? This, combined with numerous reports of poorly-treated employees, makes me reluctant to order again. "Okay, Ari, we're sorry we messed up; here's a coupon for ten percent off or something." No, sorry, I won't settle for that. Why not? I was first introduced to this while visiting Philly. We were walking around near Drexel and spotted this truck. I tried the S'mores cookie and it was delicious!! It was very very goey and thus very messy but it was hot and chocolatey, just what I wanted on a winter day. I later ran into several of their other store locations throughout my trip and once walked by a new location that was giving away FREE cookies. I tried their chocolate chip, macademia nut, and oatmeal raisin but those weren't as good as their S'mores. I would say that's the only cookie worth getting. By the way.....they deliver...... These cookies are delicious! Thanks to an in-truck cookie warmer (no lie) the cookies are ALWAYS warm. They bake them so they are nice and gooey in the center, but have crispy edges - they are literally perfection in a cookie. Personal favorites are chocolate chunk (I'm somewhat of a traditionalist) and peanut butter (to die for). It's brutal taking classes at Drexel's main campus, because this truck is parked right outside the library - talk about temptation! My only complaint (and reason for not giving it 5 stars) is that they are kind of expensive. $1.30 for a cookie that's relatively small - not exactly a stellar deal. Having been a Drexel student, I'm very familiar with this truck and the Insomnia brand. Tonight's visit to the cookie mobile did not live up to my memories. Sure the cookies (yes, plural) were ooey gooey fatty goodness, but I feel like the quality has taken a dive over the past few years. I purchased two (don't judge) deluxe cookies: the S'mores and the Reese's Peanut Butter cup. The Reese's was OK, but the S'mores was incredibly disappointing! I chose it because I thought it would have a crunch element, bits of graham crackers? Nothing. Upon closer inspection, it appeared that graham crackers were incorporated into the cookie, but the apparently lengthly time spent in the cookie warmer must have moistened the purpose out of those tiny little crumbs. Super big let-down there, Insomnia. But why only three stars? Because it's hot as balls in Philly right now. For a truck that exists on the purpose of running late into the night, one would think that asking for a bottle of water at only 11pm in the middle of the summer wouldn't be such a task. Cookie man was out of water AND out of milk. In fact, out of beverages altogether. Boo!!! Bottom line: would I eat them again? Well, yeah. They're cookies on the go. Duh. (But never, EVER would I order the S'mores cookie again. Ever.) Do yourself a favor, though, and trek into Center City to the shop. I think Insomnia's cookies are delicious, crunchy around the edges and gooey goodness inside. The chocolate literally oozes and drips when you pull the cookie apart. That's my favorite kind of cookie! It's so hard to make the perfect cookie, so I gladly appreciate their hard work. Lets just say that if this food truck was a god, people would be giving their first born as sacrifices. The cookies are always warm and they're constantly making fresh ones because they're very busy. This truck is almost impossible to resist! I walked by on my way to a presentation, saw the sign advertising warm, freshly-baked cookies, and couldn't help myself. Hey, you need energy to present, right? Anyhow, my chocolate chunk and white chocolate macadamia cookies were warm, soft, and filled with rich, melt-in-your-mouth chocolate. For $1.25 each, they are probably the least expensive source of comfort for a student here. Service was friendly and the truck is parked conveniently (or strategically, I think) in front of Haggerty so that overly stressed students can get their sweet tooth fix and drown their studying woes in delicious baked goods. Definitely grab a few if you are on campus or in the near vicinity. If you are having a group event, I would highly recommend getting a tray of the chocolate chunk cookies (they have catering discounts and deliver too); the attendees will be eternally grateful. read more
