I agreed to accommodate their requested window and waited for them to arrive. By 1:00 PM, no one had shown up and I had received no phone call or update. I called to find out what was going on, only to be told that they were still at another job and would be there for at least another 30 minutes before even heading my way. The lack of communication and consideration for my time was extremely frustrating and unprofessional. I had rearranged my day to accommodate their schedule, only to be left waiting with no notice that they were running behind. A simple courtesy call letting me know they were delayed would have made a significant difference. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling that my time was not respected. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Harrison Electric. This is not the level of professionalism or customer service I would expect from a company I am trusting to work on my home.

We informed of our situation and were given a Sunday appointment. Due to the Sunday service we thought we would get an unhelpful inspector, and charged an arm and a leg. Instead we were met by Garry who showed us elite level service, professionalism, and inspection. Explanations and details you'd receive from a master level inspector all delivered in a respectful tone, ie treated as equals. We just wanted to tie all the rooms together since Dave's did another job about a year ago. Everything is simple from the quote, demolition, installation and sanding to the finish. I paid for 3 coats of poly and an additional "radcoat" supposedly to make the floors more durable…read more They sanded down the middle, did not do the corners or edges at all. After I complained they scraped off the poly and somewhat fixed the corners. Not great, but better. Applied one more coat and then the final coat so I got one less coat then I paid for. First time they left the doors unlocked, second time they left them not only unlocked but wide open in sub zero weather. The house was vacant so I guess they thought that was ok. When I asked them about it they said it was hard to lock old doors and hard to make old floors look good. I thought that was what they did? It was a 1940's house so not ancient. They have every excuse in the book ready when you call to complain. Not the same floor company I used to get for all my rehabs. Very sub par work which it appears to be from a variety of sub contractors. Sad that what was once a good business is now just a scam operation cutting corners whenever they can. Check all reviews - wish I had.

But apparently, you can't just wake up and have all of this overnight... I guess one of the important things to home buying is a having (and passing) a home inspection. Yeah, we definitely felt like adults as we pretended to be on HGTV's House Hunters. But we felt like kids, and somewhat of idiots, when it came to understanding how a house worked. It was like a present with gorgeous wrapping, "ooooh" and "ahhhh" but then we didn't understand how to use the actual toy, "do we really need a back-flow protector thing-a-majig?" and "so you're telling me the structure is what?!?" (Cue in Dave from Harmony Home Inspections) This is where Dave works his magic and helps you figure out if the house is will be a money-pit or if it will be all roses and green grass. We used Dave on TWO home inspections. He did such a mah-velous job on the first one that we didn't hesitate to contact him for the second. He's almost like the last step in figuring out if the boyfriend/girlfriend.. err, house, is really... "the one," but he uses really cool gadgets to determine it! He spent his time everywhere in the home and even addressed our questions as we went along. He took pictures of all the spaces, including those where we pointed and said, "oh, is that... the M word? Mold?!" (Thankfully, it was not.) He walks around, crawls, kneels, shines a light, has a thermal thingy thing, and basically covers EVERYTHING in a home while making you feel comfortable that you are getting a really good inspection. My favorite part about Dave is his response to all your questions, "that's a really good question! (Insert answer here)" He sure made us feel competent, which in turn, made us confident that we were making a wise decision on this home. I have recommended Dave to others and hope that more realtors start to use Dave as well! I'd have to say, Dave is probably one of the most-enjoyed professional service man I have met and worked with. And that's important, since we're adults now and we have to make adult relationships. No more hanging out and gettin' crazy with those young cats at the Bootleggers...
