I bought a gas range from Home Depot and paid to have it delivered, installed and haul the old range away. The delivery people came but did not install it and didn't even haul my old range because they said we needed to clean the spot where the range was supposed to go (we did a DIY kitchen remodel so some hidden places still had debris). They said when we're done cleaning to call them to schedule for someone to come and install. Well, I called and was told the next available technician would come in a week. Obviously, this won't work since we need our gas range to cook. I will do a separate review on that prticular company. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I called my local Home Depot, told them my situation and immediately got me connected to Installators. Next available appointment? In 24 hours! They gave me a time frame between 12 to 4 - Mike showed up at 11:45. Hooked up my range AND hauled the old appliance away! All this he did in 30 minutes! Fast, friendly, professional service. We needed someone to check our gas dryer connection, and I called this company and talked to Deana. She was very helpful, and asked a couple of questions about our problem. She said that Mike would be stopping by later this afternoon to check things out. (I called late at almost 3:00Pm on a Friday). Mike was here an 1/2 hr later, very professional, and told us that we had a faulty gas connection for the dryer. Fixed all very quickly, and when I asked what he could tell me about our disposal (which was not working) he looked at it and unscrewed something and voila it is working........ He did not charge us for that. And, he was cheap. So, Mike we certainly will call your company again.....sorry that they do not work on Refrigerators, but he gave me a reputable company to call. Not satisfied with this company's level of customer service at all. I was recently reffered to these guys by Home Depot and had hired them to come out to install my new wall oven, so the guy(Mike) comes out to install it and as he was almost done screwing in the last couple of screws, he ended up chipping the paint off of my new oven in the process because he'd overtightened the screws on the oven to the cabinet. Needless to say, he failed to own up to his mistake and began deflecting the blame onto the manufacturer of the oven, stating that it was a 'product defect'. How is it the oven's fault, when you're the one who chipped the paint off it? It was perfectly fine before you started screwing in the screws the way you did. Like what gives? I could've done it myself and not have that problem. Anyway tried to get them to remedy the situation from their mishap, but they refused. No discount, not even a few bucks off the cost of install, nothing at all. All they said was well if you're trying to save money, I can leave your old oven behind and save you the haul away fee of $20. I was thinking to myself well I would've liked you to install my oven properly, not save money. Mind you I still paid a good $250 for this install and it was for only one single gas wall oven too. I guess it's what happens when I trust experts who are called 'Installators'. So just a word of warning to others if you decide to hire them to do an install because they will take zero responsibility and deflect the blame onto the manufacturer of the product you're trying to install or worse blame it on you if they mess up your installation somehow. Good luck with that! Will definitely go with a different company to have my stuff installed properly next time. read more

This review is purely based off of Installator's ability to pick up a phone and talk to a customer. I had some time off and needed a washer/dryer installed. I called, left a message, no response. I did this three consecutive days before I legitimately needed somebody to come and get the job done so I went elsewhere. Out of all the phone calls I made and messaged I left, I still have not heard a single peep out of these guys, which is vexing. 2 stars for poor (read: non-existent) customer communication. read more

This is the second time that I've used Installators, and both times have been excellent. On this occasion I had a double wall oven installed. The new oven was about 6 inches taller than the one it replaced, and, therefore, needed additional woodwork. The end result was outstanding!! When Mike was finished, the oven looked like the cabinets had been originally designed for it to fit. Friendly, prompt, professional with great attention to detail. I can't say enough good things about them. Mike is very detail-oriented; before installing my new oven he discovered that the oven needed a 50A circuit breaker and i only had 40 in the house. To replace with a 50A would have run me mega-bucks. he saved me by checking this out before the install. He came back to help me work through a more complex installation, and he will come back to do the install next week. Each time, I'm more and more impressed with his knowledge and attention to the small stuff because he knows this counts. He is courteous and considerate. Just beware if your doing a remodel & may need some extra work done. They charge an $85.00 trip charge so after you get an outrageous estimate & don't hire them he's had a great day for 10 minutes! I should do that for my business and just drive around town raking in the trip charges. I paid $140.00 for my electrician to install my cooktop which took 4 hours & running wire & Mike wanted $125.00 to unhook and remove it. Every single component to make the remodel work was an overcharge. The "worst case scenario" to install the downdraft was $700.00. Perhaps worthwhile if the hookup is very simple but if it takes some creativity be prepared. Mikes attitude about my concern for the costs was abrupt & defensive. Excellent! Excellent! Home Depot referred me to the Installators for a Sub Zero refrigerator removal and a Samsung refrigerator installation. From the time Mike walked in the door I knew he knew what he was doing. (So many out there just have NO CLUE!). Mike and his helper were fast, efficient, neat, AND friendly. It took them no time at all to get the Sub Zero out (no easy feat) and the new fridge installed. Not only did they do a great job of making sure everything was kosher with my electrical outlet but trimmed my cabinetry a hair so we could slide the new one out with ease. AND after all that he demonstrated how to use all the features on my new Samsung refrigerator as well! GREAT JOB GUYS!!! This company put in all my new appliances about three years ago and they do not stand by their work! Now my microwave moves every time you close the door and it has been pushed back into the cabinet so that it interferes with the microwave door. When I got in touch with Dena she said she couldn't find the paperwork from three years ago, and when I still wanted them to come out to fix it, she said it would be an $85 SERVICE CALL TO EVALUATE and then ADDITIONAL FOR ANY REPAIRS NEEDED. Incredible. Three years is not very long -- their work should hold up better than that! Then I remembered that I also had to have a plumber fix the connection under the sink to the dishwasher, since it had been INSTALLED INCORRECTLY. I don't think they know what they are doing and they certainly don't try to make their mistakes "right." I urge you to look for someone else! read more

Mike is an awesome guy. He just put in a new microwave/oven combo as well as an induction cooktop and new dishwasher. He noticed the new dishwasher was damaged in the back so I had to order another one. He helped me find trim for the cooktop locally and it was very inexpensive. He knows what he's doing and is very helpful with suggestions and dos and dont's of new appliances. He is kind and easy to talk to. Dena does the scheduling and knows what's she doing! Fantastic, stress-free experience getting a major appliance moved from one end of the county to the other! The driver showed up on time, carefully removed handles in order to get the refrigerator through a narrow doorway, took care loading & securing the thing & reversed the process when, not 2 minutes after I, they arrived at the destination. We have an under mounted kitchen sink which was by a kitchen window ledge. Three contractors informed me it would take too much time to remove it without possibly cracking the counter so the solution was to replace the entire kitchen (I.e the whole kitchen to match!). Our counters are still in very good condition and I felt it would be a waste to put my entire kitchen in a landfill when everything still works. I put the project aside until my neighbor who was very handy had Mike install his appliances and raved how he found solutions and not the easy way out. I tried Mike first with installing a drop in cooktop bigger than what we had, he cut through the counter and made it work ( we had a pop up vent which made it a challenge in terms of space but he got it to work). I had limited options with sink choices because of the configuration and the kitchen ledge. Anyhow he set the whole day to work on it and was working nonstop from 830am until 5:30 pm. He charged what he initially quoted and he saved me a lot of money vs. having to replace the entire kitchen! Mike works by himself so yes it's hard to get him on the phone because he is a busy guy but worth the wait! read more

OK, I have to admit I am not the biggest fan of using Yelp! I am a small business owner and we get YELPed! Thankfully, most of them are great, and truthfully, not every customer service experience can be fabulous, although it is something to strive for. This experience just left a very bad taste in my mouth. OK, I spent $3K at our local appliance store to buy an oven/microwave and a range top. They don't install but they directed me to the "Installators". Aside from the fact the cost was almost double the estimate given to me by the appliance retailer, let's just say this felt bad from the start. The installation guy said we needed a circuit breaker that was very load specific. We had a circuit breaker that was rated 50, and we needed a 40 and he wouldn't hook it up for us even though ours was rated higher. The really weird part was that he sent us to Home Depot to buy it, or he wouldn't power up our oven. It is a common item for $12.00, but the install guy told me they vary so much they don't carry them. OK... so then the gas range rocks on the ceramic tile and he said it is because the tile is not level. He would not seal it in because he said they don't do that because we may want to take out the range in the future and it might break the tile. So after install, the range rocks because it is not sealed in. I guess I need to call a "finisher". :) It's not over... the oven/microwave did not fit in the space. The one I purchased was a little bit narrower and a little shorter than the one I had before. The installer had to make some spacers. We have oak cabinetry and the installer went to his truck and made spacers. They are not stained, so the color is completely different than my cabinets. They didn't say anything about that! The install cost was over $700 and there are some chunks of wood missing from the area where he cut. Somewhere along the line someone should have said you need to run and buy parts for us, you need to seal your range in and you need to stain the inserts we install for you and fix the chucks of wood missing. Trust me, I would have either paid more or gone somewhere else if I was given the choice. The whole install experience was weird. You know I called the appliance dealer who recommended them. I thought about YELPing them too, but I am going to give them the benefit of the doubt. I have dealt with them for years. I paid the bill, but at the end of the day, I know I would never use them again. PS... I have never YELPed before. read more

When you type in Appliance Install and then the zip code of 92101 (encompasses downtown) these guys come up third on the list. After communicating with them they explained they do not actually perform installs downtown. Either they need to update their coverage area or Yelp needs to. Recently I remodelled my kitchen and bought new appliances from Home Depot. I signed for installation with the installators as suggested by Home Depot and also paid in advance. A guy called Mike came to install Oven and cooktop. He told me he will have to move the Gas line and that will cost me additional $135. I asked him how long will the work take. he told me 1~1.5 hrs. I thought that is fair, agreed and paid the additional money. However, it took him less than 5 minutes to do the job (just drill a hole into the cabinet and pushed the pipe). The guy was out and out liar and robbed the money. The guy was also very arrogant. Seems nothing is covered in the basic installation, just plug in the power cord to the socket. Even if they have to drill a hole in the wall to install over the range Microwave oven (Don't know how they can install Over the range microwave without drilling any hole and what the $99 dollars is for), they will charge per hole. The guys are very well trained to rob your money. They will come to your place and will tell you this and that needs to be done and will charge extra. At that time if you say, you will not have it installed by them, they will charge $50 per item for cancellation fee. I am extremely disappointed by their work ethics and attitude and will warn everyone not to take their services for any installation need. read more

I did not get the dad, I got the son. The installer was recommended by the people who sold us the oven. He unplugged my cook top to install my new built in oven to replace the old one and because the electric plug for the cook top was right behind the old oven he unplugged the cook-top which makes sense. So he takes out the old oven, unplugs my cook-top to work on the cook-top gas line, then plugs everything back in and put the new oven in flush so everything is nice an covered up. The install looks great, but he never noticed that the cook-top is now not working. (Why wouldn't he check that?) Later I find out he did not plug the cook-top into the same plug he unplugged it from, but that's later. He packs up and leaves after collecting 350 dollars to install the oven below and a microwave above. I wanted to use a CC but he wanted a check. So, I gave him a check. 10 minutes after he leaves my wife says "Hey, I can't light the fire on the cook-top!" So I turn on a burner and sure enough, no ignition to spark the gas and the smell of gas is all over the kitchen because my wife was not aware of the problem. So I get on the phone and call Deena at Installators and there is no answer so I leave a message saying we need him to come back and pull out the oven to plug in the cook-top (we assumed he forgot to plug it back in). We call again and this time my wife gets Deena and she says "He said he plugged it in" and that's it. I ask my wife: "That's it. that's all they can say?" So I call them myself this time and I say "Hey, he must not have plugged it in right or something is wrong back there because it's not sparking and I need him to get the oven out so we can get to that plug!" "I need him to come back and get the oven out so I can get the top plugged in!" And Deena says she is on the phone with the guy and "He says it's plugged in" and I tell her "I need him back here to get this oven out so I can get to the plug!" but instead she tells me that the guys says: "If you want to take out the oven there are two screws holding the oven in place", "Take out those screws to remove the oven" - and that's it - they leave me like that. It was obvious they were not going to come back to help me - I hung up the phone and looked at my wife and said: "We are on our own". So, I go get my tools and remove screws and brackets and my wife and I drag the oven out of the cabinets and there I see the plug for the cook-top in a duplex receptical with two plugs and it's plugged into the bottom plug, so I remove it from the bottom plug and plug it into the top plug and that's it - the cook-top roars back to life and goes back to working just fine. The guy never even checked to make sure he plugged it back into the same plug he removed it from but what's worse he would not come back to help fix it. I did not even bother calling them back to tell them they plugged it into the wrong receptacle. I just re-installed the oven and my wife just said "well, live and learn, we will never use them again". We still need a dishwasher and I think we will buy it elsewhere and use a different installer. read more
