took a bit longer than i thought because the old car coming before me was taking 2 different inspections. when my car checked, only took less than 10 min. super fast!! the cost is $40 when you showed the coupon on yelp, and the guys here friendly. . would recommend this place!!! read more

Very fast place to get a smog check. There was nobody else in line. I was only there for 10 minutes and I chatted with the guys while I waited. The cost was $40 and that seems to be fair around here. Can't dread future smogs with service like this. Friendly, fast and easy! read more

This smog place was fast and easy. I got there first thing in the morning and right away they got to work on my car. They smogged it, it passed (hallelujah) and they honored the yelp deal I found on here. Without the deal it would've been nearly 50.00. But with deal of yelp it was 31.75 plus 8.00 service charge. Well worth it, near my home in HB, I love good service. And is simple. Wahoo! Go here! read more

Aftermarket parts friendly place as long as carb legal. Brought my Evo 9 in for smog and no problems. Fathi (owner) is a really nice man who will go the extra mile when needed. This place is star smog certified and I was in and out quickly. Will definitely come back to smog every time. read more

I've gone twice now for a super fast smog check. Owner is very nice and took a few dollars off my service. Tech takes less than 10mins so you are in and out - I've never had to wait. Will be back in 2 years for another smog check :) read more

The smog check was completed so fast and the owner was hilarious. He makes me want to go watch Fiddler on the Roof the way he talks and tells stories. Loved him. And the tech that did the work was super nice as well. Highly recommended. Take advantage of the check-in deal. $40 cash gets you in and out fast. read more

I went here because the reviews looked good and so was the price. I showed up and let them know I found them on yelp. He told me cash only. I told him I didn't have cash on me plus on yelp they are listed that they accept credit cards. He was rude and didn't believe he said show me it is not true, I showed him and he was still rude about it. I left and went to Blue Sky in Costa Mesa instead and had such a better experience I did pay a little more but not much and so worth I was in and out and was treated a lot better. read more

I have taken two cars to this SMOG establishment. The owner/operator is a nice fellow from Palestine and I typically enjoy my conversations with him. I had a random check engine light come on and the owner allowed me to come back within a few days for a free follow-up. About an hour later my check engine light went off so I went back and got my SMOG approval. I will come here again. read more

If you want the most interesting smog of your entire life then come on in. The owner is fascinating. Talk to him about poetry, art, literature, anything you name it! Very smart and educated man. The new STAR Program begins January 1, 2013 and it replaces the Gold Shield and Test Only program. If your DMV registration renewal notice states your vehicle requires a smog check at a STAR station or if your vehicle registration states your vehicle requires a smog check at a Gold Shield or Test Only station, you must take your vehicle to a STAR station after December 31, 2012. I was greeted right away by Angel, who made the entire process easy. He gave clear instructions from start to finish and kept everything moving smoothly. There are two waiting areas: an indoor lounge with a couch and a small beverage station and a covered outdoor seating area. I was excited to see one of my favorite sodas, Mountain Dew Baja Blast, in the fridge! They also have a Keurig for coffee, which would be nice in the morning, although the coffee station looked a little dusty, so I decided to skip it. They definitely lived up to their promise. I was in and out in about 15 minutes, my MDX passed, and Angel explained that my smog certificate would be electronically sent to Sacramento within about 30 minutes. Woo hoo! As a nice bonus, if you pass, they give you a free car wash card at H2Go, which was a pleasant surprise. The shop can service two cars at a time, and everything was clean, organized, and efficient. Great customer service, great value, and a hassle-free experience. I'll definitely be back the next time my smog check is due. See you next year!

He also did not give me an estimate before starting, which is required by BAR. So I paid $70, wasted my time, got an avoidable failed smog test on the car's record, and still had to get it tested again somewhere else. I would've been happy with being charged and then offered a free retest but there was no such offer. From my point of view, the whole thing felt like a charade to get my money. To make it worse, he asked me to take a picture and write a Google review before I even knew the result of the test. Looking back, that feels pretty shady too. I would not come back here.

The gentleman on the phone said the transmission fluid is for life unless I'm towing or carrying heavy loads. When I questioned why I see that it's recommended online he says that dealers will recommend this service all day but if you check the Toyota maintenance manual it says you don't need it. Man! I haven't even been to this shop yet and I'm already getting a good feeling about this place. It's a bit more expensive for an oil change than other places that have quoted me, but I like that they use factory parts including Toyota oil filters. I'll update this review once I get the car in for my first visit. Stay tuned.... 6/29/26 - Brought my Sienna in for an oil change + complimentary 30-point inspection (since it was my first time there). Jared took the van for a spin, brought it back and lifted it up. They found a little oil seepage coming out of the transfer case. I let them know that I did see a transfer case drain/fill on the CarFax report before I bought it. Jared thinks they just didn't torque it properly so they were going to retorque and clean up around the area and keep an eye on it. Worst case scenario, they would need to order a new drain plug gasket and I'd have to come back to get it replaced. Thankfully, the drain plug just needed to get tightened. I was in and out in almost exactly an hour just as Robert promised. Thanks The Toy Shop team!! Pro Tip: they are booked out at least a week in advanced so make your appointment ASAP!
