Intermezzo is such a good, reliable local spot. I think their pizza is top 3 in town. I love their pepperoni and will add some bougie mushrooms rather than your basic button mushroom. I also love their lemon caper chicken sooooo much. It's so perfectly eggy and lemony. Don't sleep on this place.

We were looking for a last minute spot to eat and stumbled upon this restaurant/wine bar on a side alley. I think the main entrance was on the back street. It was close to closing but the manager set us up a table anyway. (We were turned away from a couple other places bc it was late) The food was delicious. I had the Salmon which was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Also shared a bottle of Pinot Noir. The ambience of the place was nostalgic and cool, displaying pictures of rock n roll memorabilia. We really enjoyed this hidden gem.

Stopped by Intermezzo before a show at the Lobero Theater and had a perfect pre theater experience. The classic martini was crisp and well-made, while the espresso martini was smooth and rich, just what I needed to kick off the evening. Great atmosphere, attentive service, and an ideal spot for a quick, quality drink before heading to a show. I reserved a private room for 8-10 people off the bar for a celebration of my daughter's graduation from UCSB. They decorated the table impeccably- with personalized menu card, crisp white linens, adorable graduation confetti on the table, beautiful place settings and flowers. Jenny the manager was top notch and paid attention to every detail. Her customer service was absolutely first class - honestly the whole thing was done with such class and beauty. We came early and set up balloons and a door decoration that Jenny helped us with. We brought cupcakes and she plated them for us. I had a glass of Pino Grigio that Jenny chose for me and it was heaven. Now let's talk food - they provided unlimited pizzas and ceasar salads - my goodness these pizzas were delicious! Pepperoni, Margarita, cheese and sausage - not greasy, fresh dough with perfect crunch and rich elegant sauces. The salad was served with large croutons and crispy romaine lettuce and homemade dressing - so flavorful and fresh. They had iced tea lemonade and water as well. This was a fabulous experience and I highly recommend for any occasion! For what we got - high quality, pristine presentation and excellent service - it was priced reasonably. Thank you for a perfect celebration experience.

I had the honor of having my 50th birthday party at Intermezzo and all I can say it they were fantastic! To start, the venue is absolutely beautiful! But my overall experience was amazing. Maria Yapur, the event coordinator, was amazing and so easy to work with. She was very communicative and responsive. The staff was extremely friendly and made my party really stand out. I highly recommend hosting your party here. I would do it again!

Sunday Brunch and the food and service was dynamic! Lobster omelet & filet mignon enchiladas were outta this world and the peach blossom and farmers daughter so tasty yet light, will be back again soon, thank you!

Thick cut Nueske's bacon with these incredibly good tasting orange eggs. Definitely a thumbs up. And yes, the potatoes were good too.

Had a group of friends go there for Sunday brunch with DJ Darla Bea pajama party. We had so much fun and everyone had great food. The service was spot on and everyone was very attentive. The chef and food service staff are making some incredible dishes. can't wait to go back again for dinner.

Waffle, strawberry dipped chocolate, keon tart.

Omg best mother's Day brunch ever. The waffles were amazing I don't eat waffles but I added butter syrup and bacon. Service and staff top notch. Thank you for an amazing day Will be back.

White linen tables and elegant indoor dining

Intermezzo has always piqued my interest with its elegant white linen tables and cozy fireplace. I've walked by on numerous occasions but never found the right opportunity to dine here. Maybe because of its enigmatic culinary identity: is it pizza, Mexican, or steak? Add on the uncertainty of its dress code, I just felt too intimidated to casually stop by. Well, tonight, an unexpected, non-negotiable tug on the end of my leash from my dog finally brought my husband and I through its doors, even though we weren't in fine dining attire. Finding the entrance was a challenge due to the multiple patios and confusing interior dining areas. So we flagged down a staff member and we were seated right away. Contrary to my assumptions, the menu was neither Mexican nor Italian. I'd best describe it as an American French fusion, featuring items like French onion soup, steaks, chicken, oysters, pizza, hamburgers, and an extensive wine selection. Having already eaten earlier, I decided to sample their French onion soup, while my husband tried the ravioli. Both dishes were impressive. Exquisite balance of flavors! It truly felt like an authentic Santa Barbara dining experience - the way it should be - upscale and carefully prepared. Though prices were slightly above average, they were far from prohibitive. For instance, a burger was priced at a reasonable $20. We also sampled desserts - crème brûlée and a chocolate truffle slice. Each had a pleasantly restrained sweetness. Despite our casual attire, the staff treated us (and the pup) with kindness and professionalism throughout our visit. Our spontaneous dining experience at Intermezzo turned out to be a memorable end to our evening. This would be a great date night spot or a place to bring out of town guests. Overall, five stars. Highly recommended.

Incredible food and service. Emma was the most wonderful server. She was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Dusan was also very friendly and helpful. Overall incredible experience and food. 10/10

What an incredibly charming, warm, inviting, and truly delicious wine bar! From the absolutely beautiful architecture and accouterments throughout, the outstanding service and lovely ambiance really add to a wonderful experience. The charcuterie is delicious, the lemon chicken breast is luscious, and mamma Mia the meatballs!! Of course, the shining star is the fabulous wine list! They also offer a full bar with excellent cocktails. Great choice!!

    Wonderful drinks!

Test Pilot lands somewhere in the orbit of tiki without fully crash-landing on a bamboo runway, and…read morehonestly, that works in its favor. In a stretch of Lower State packed with breweries, wine bars, and roaming weekend energy-drink humans in vintage bowling shirts, it threads the needle nicely between cocktail bar and tropical escape pod. The menu leans tiki-adjacent rather than deep-cut exotica, but the drinks are smartly built and avoid the "every problem can be solved with more rum" philosophy. There's a solid spread of spirits across the board, which makes the place feel more welcoming to a broader nightlife crowd instead of strictly rum disciples clutching vintage Trader Vic's mugs. The Oaxacan Dead was the standout for me. Smoky, balanced, endlessly sippable. One of those drinks where every sip quietly talks you into ordering another without turning into a sugar avalanche. The Jungle Bird was also great, though presented more in the direction of a Negroni than the punchier tropical versions you usually see. Bitter, restrained, and easy to settle into. Crowd-wise, things tilted a little frat-floaty as the night rolled on, but the staff handled everything smoothly and kept the vibe from turning into full pirate mutiny. Service stayed friendly and composed even when the volume of the room started climbing like a malfunctioning theremin. Big bonus points for the location and outdoor seating. Being right in the middle of Lower State makes it an easy launch point or final stop depending on your evening trajectory. Grab a drink, people-watch, drift between breweries and wine spots, repeat as necessary.

Pearl social is such a whimsical fun spot to grab a drink and a snack in the funk zone. We stumbled in for a late afternoon drink and it wasn't very busy inside - giving off "best kept secret vibe". The decor is very feminine yet playful. Loved the design and bar area. We opted for a casual booth area by the bar which was really nice. Also all of the little things were done well, crisp menus, clean bathrooms, and music done at just the right sound level. Their menu in the bar area for food is small but mighty - oysters, cheese plates, you name it. I'm definitely going to keep coming here for the cocktails. I've had one of the best sips in 2025 here - which would be The Mixtape cocktail. My friend told me I had to get it and I'm so glad I listen sometimes lol. This cocktail completely blew me away. Passionfruit forward, it's silky, sweet yet very well balanced. One of the more unique and tasty cocktails I've had ever and honestly I'm not sure how I could come back and get anything else. 10/10 Cocktail and menu. Super impressed. Kudos to Mark who was working the bar. Such a lovely spirit and kind person. He really is passionate about his menu and the drinks he's curated. Loved talking to him as we got to know a lot more about Pearl social and how some of their drinks were concerted. Really appreciated his time and expertise. Anytime I'm in the funk zone I will 100% be stopping back by here for a cocktail and good vibes.

The hubby got the spiced rum old fashioned, which had an ice cube with a lion's face etched onto it--a nice touch. This location is in the heart of the Funk Zone near the pier in Santa Barbara. The patio is in the back of Cutler's that can be entered around the corner (map on the front door of Cutler's shows the directions). The patio is next to other tasting room patios featuring wine and next door to Lark's restaurant. When we visited the tasting room at about 3pm in the afternoon, we were the only individuals there but started to fill up with other small groups. When a large group entered, the waitress said you will need a reservation as she was only wait staff there. Perhaps a sign is needed to notify people, that groups need reservations. The drinks were spot on- the drinks started at 14 dollars to about 16 dollars for cocktails. The tasting room also offers tastings of their products too. The tastings looked small. The cocktails were well poured. I was just disappointed to find out that I could not get a Bloody Mary on a Saturday- only Sundays- the Bloody Mary looked really good. If you are done with wine, and seeking something different, come relax on the patio here if your vibe is a low key environment with solid distillery cocktails.

We were immediately welcomed by Tommy who handed us two menus, set us up with a couple waters and asked if he could serve us a cocktail. I got the Oaxacan old fashioned and my wife got the Oku old fashioned. In addition to our drinks, we also ordered up some shishito peppers, hamachi sashimi, Toro nigiri as well as big eye tuna nigiri. Our drinks arrived quickly and as we sipped on them, our food arrived shortly thereafter. It was early afternoon and we had apparently beat the crowd which was great for us as the place quickly filled up after about half an hour.
