I was referred to interstate by another firefighter and had my vehicle towed from NH to Auburn. Took weeks to get transmission rebuilt. Fine. Within the first year of rebuilt transmission, a loud knocking noise started so brought it back to them under the "warranty." They stated it wasn't the transmission so I brought it to my mechanic who couldn't figure it out. Brought it to the GM dealership, paid $200 for a diagnostic, transmission and traction control light issue related to transmission. Brought vehicle back to interstate, said they would fix it and take care of related issue. Loud knocking noise were loose bolts inside transmission covered under warranty... Paid them $180 to fix TCM wiring. Week later car drives worse than ever, traction control light comes on and starts bucking. Brought back to interstate, they said it's not our issue, keys are in it. Give your $4k to another reputable transmission place, this ain't it. I want my money back. read more

I've gotten my transmission rebuilt by interstate twice. First one lasted around 44k miles. Codes for incorrect gear ratio 1 & 2 and planetary gear system winning. They couldn't figure out exactly what caused it to fail, Only that it failed exactly like last time. Second rebuild is on its way out ,around 30k miles in this rebuild car is slipping starting the act like it did before. Brought it back to interstate 2 or 3 weeks ago, with concerns of slipping and metal in fluid . They said pressure readings are in range and no metal found on "dipstick" car drives fine .I personally dropped the trans pan to change the filter and found excessive metal on the trans pan magnet and a loose bolt sitting in the pain. I requested money back. Interstate said no not after 3 years. The counter offer was they could look at it and fix it assuming they found a problem. I declined the counter offer because if the interstate can't fix it the first 2 times then what's a 3rd gonna do read more

We were having transmission problems with our car and we tried transmission fluid and changing the filter also and it didn't resolve the problem. We brought the car to a automotive shop to have it checked out and diagnosed. They said it needed a new transmission and they gave us an estimate of over 3000.$!!!!!! We decided to find a transmission shop and get another price so we called Interstate first and they had an opening to check it out. They said they could work on and fix the transmission we had for 600.+. We were happy to find experts to fix the problem on our car. They were able to promptly fit us in and fixed it quickly. The next time we needed our truck fixed we weren't able to get an appointment there and unfortunately had a very very bad experience at another transmission shop in Southbridge. read more

I needed a new transmission on my 2004 Honda Element (160K miles) and they gave me an exact price and stuck to it--no screwing around with estimates--which also happened to be the cheapest estimate I found when shopping around by about $400. I live in Boston, so taking the car to Auburn was a trek, but they got the work done when they said they would, were always responsive and clear, and when I had an additional issue with my catalytic converter they helped me diagnose it for free and gave me a great referral. I had my transmission replaced by Interstate. Done on time at the quoted price! Had a problem with wire harness/fuse box connection after we picked up the car. I enthusiasitcally recommend this tranny repair shop! The owner is a friendly guy who knows his stuff. When I started having problems that were obviously related to the transmission, I gave them a call. Steve spent a good deal of time explaining their repair procedure, beginning with a FREE diagnosis. I was impressed that he took the time to go over the entire process, and scheduled a visit. The diagnosis indicated an electrical problem, which was repaired for a little over $100.00 - Problem? A broken connector. Here's my takeaway: 1. They have an excellent diagnosis procedure, which is FREE. 2. The owner is not afraid to spend face time with his customers, and does not speak down to them. 3. The fact that they would do an auto repair job for less than $350.00 speaks volumes 4. Most important: Could not help but to notice that they enjoy this work - a rare thing these days with service-related companies & getting rarer. I was hearing a noise, very unusual. Thought it was my transmission. Went and had I believe his name was Jimmy take my truck for a ride. He told me the problem was the clutch fan, It was stuck on all the time and pulling a lot of power from my engine. He was right. Had the fan clutch replaced, my truck is nice and quiet. I had an issue with a noise coming from the front end of my vehicle. Brought it to my local mechanic and said it was probably a front differential bearing which they could not fix and had to see a transmission specialist. I ended up coming to interstate cause I've heard good things. I dropped off my vehicle in the morning and was told they would be in contact in the early afternoon once they diagnosed it. 5:45 comes around and I received no call. Finally call back and was told they diagnosed the issue hours ago and it was in fact a front differential bearing, and they forgot to call me back to pick up my car. I was then told they would have to get priced for the part and a specific person would call me back tomorrow. The following day and the next, I received no call. I finally called again and they said the person was not in and they would pass the message on to them. Never received a call back and ended up going to the dealership anyways after I found out the problem was covered under warranty. This wasn't the first issue I've had either with interstate as they misdiagnosed an issue I had with a perilous car and changed a part that didn't need to be changed. read more
