    Curly fries and smash burger
    Susan Z.

Friendly and efficient service with indoor and outdoor seating, solid food. Will definitely come back! Crab Dip - warm, crabby, light, delicious! I could eat this by the spoonful! Curly Fries - was not expecting curly fries to look the way it did, but it was delicious! Every fry was perfectly crisped. Smash Burger - solid smash burger through and through! Portland Corn Dog - i've never had a corn masa corn dog, and enjoyed this more than a normal corn dog.

This was a great bar! We swung in for drinks and got a table upstairs (I didn't even know they had an upstairs!). I love how they leaned into the history of the building. It is so cool inside! The service was great and we got our drinks fast. We tried some of the French fries to help us pace the evening out. They are meaty and seasoned really well. Perfect addition to a good drink! Great venue, great service, great drinks!

Been here several times. Steak frites + oysters + kale and a drink was magnetic this evening. Great vibes and Outback has a fire pit. Great music and friendly staff /bartenders

Ended up back at Interurban on a chill, rainy day and was instantly reminded of why Interurban is one of my most favorite spots in all of PDX, even now, seven years after I first discovered it. It's a rustic, edgy, Down to Earth place that continues to deliver excellence. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, especially at night, yet never boring. The food ranges from simple pub fare to salads and larger entrees but it's all super tasty and well done. It's pub fare on a higher level. I just had the Steak Frites and that was some of the best flank steak I've ever had, even at fancier restaurants. I'm a big cocktail fan so I especially appreciate their dedication to fine, craft cocktails. They deliver a solid selection of the classics, a creative mix of their own design, and now a selection of adapted historical cocktails from Bar La Florida c. 1935 Havana, Cuba. The Daiquiri #2 was delightful. They have a variety of spaces from their comfy bar, to tables upstairs in the historic house they occupy, to their outdoor patio kept warm by the fire. Service is always great. Can't wait for my next visit!

I thought I would never come back here. But in this case I was just getting a drink with friends. But sadly I was disappointed once again. My 16 oz can of Delirium turned into a 11 oz bottle. And a dollar more than advertised. Pretty sure that's illegal. See pictures. That's over a dollar and oz. The corn dogs are still the best things on the menu. Friends ordered some food. Pickle plate and pigs in a blanket. The pickle plate was all sweet pickled. Good but I'm more of a savory person. Pigs in a blanket have a really good puff pastry. And they resource their meats from Olimpia Provisions. Very good. Service was nice and available. But they cleaned and took my husbands drink without asking if he was done. He says that's a no no. We got to sit outside by a fire. Very nice. Like the atmosphere. And good music.

    Smoked Trout BLT

While I was visiting Portland, Interurban was a bar/restaurant I visited to get a late dinner after I arrived in the city. The place wasn't too crowded even though I came on a Friday night, and I was able to get a seat at the bar within 5 minutes or so (although there may be more of a wait for larger groups). The bartenders and servers were welcoming, and they were pretty friendly to chat with. I decided to try out the Smoked Trout BLT since that sounded pretty unique and also some of the PNW Oysters on the Half Shell. While the items are on the pricier side, I was pleasantly surprised by how well the Smoked Trout went with the rest of the sandwich. I typically haven't eaten smoked fish often, but the flavors in this were great and it was definitely a combination that I hadn't had before. The oysters were fresh and I also enjoyed them quite a bit, but the main star was definitely the BLT. If you want a quick bite to eat in Portland, Interurban is a good one to try out!

What a great place. It's a Sunday, so I assume way less busy. Our server was so nice and I love the outdoor table service! Some places make you order at the bar. We were a larger party and ordered a lot. So let's get stared. Drinks are drinks and only did one cocktail, so I'm going to be food-focused. Very impressed with the GF items, we got (for me) oysters 15$ for 3 for the table so 12 total (local Washington. Love! Sauces could be better. Curly fries, thought we ordered cocktail weenies but didn't come so NM, 2 prawns, and wow the sauce (cocktail), salsa vibes and so much in a good way horseradish. We kept it for dinner. Would go again just for that. House made for sure! For dinner, steak and potatoes, Greek wrap, mushroom pasta, trout BLT. Wow! And, of course risotto! Needed some salt, but wonderful. The mushroom pasta is served almost like a ramen, which is so great! Nice date or group stop and very popular, I'd say, make it a destination and then pop in to Lovely's next door for ice cream.

    Happy Hour menu

My friend and I were looking for a place to eat happy hour before a comedy show at Mississippi Studios. My friend is a gluten-free vegetarian, so we had to be more selective of the options nearby. We decided on Interurban, and we're glad we did! We started with a drink each: the Puppet King and the Flower Child. The Puppet King was decent, but not my favorite flavor profile. The Flower Child, on the other hand, was delicious! For food, we ordered the Spanish Cocktail Snack Mix and the Seven Layer Dip. The Snack Mix was a great mix of crunchy snacks, and the Seven Layer Dip was flavorful. We asked our server to make it an eight-layer dip as a joke, and he brought it back with edible flowers on top! It was a nice touch. The service at Interurban was excellent. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he made sure we had everything we needed. Overall, we had a great experience at Interurban. The food was good, the drinks were delicious, and the service was excellent. I would like to return for one of the more substantial food options on the menu.

An old friend and I enjoyed a fabulous meal at Interurban. Best curly fries I may have ever had. Is that possible? The fries were phenomenal. We also loved loved loved the Whitefish Dip. The Tzatziki Wrap with broccolini was fine but a bit of a mess. Veggie Smash Burger was excellent. Fantastic meal. Great place.

Portland's best corndog and signature fries. Plus the beer.
    Perry G.

I went to Interurban in order to enjoy one of their signature dishes: Portland's best corndog. I also went to enjoy some of the best fries Portland has to offer. For the first time in many decades, I also decided to enjoy a beer. However, I did not know which one to try because I had not had a beer in so long. So I asked the server for his recommendation. I also asked that he recommend a dipping sauce for my fries. Both his recommendations were outstanding. The beer was light and delicious and paired excellently with both the fries and the corndog. The ambience of this place also Was perfect. The decor, the music, even the weight staff was top-notch. I especially appreciate that the server allowed me to go upstairs and sit in one of those booths, even though I was a solo diner. I totally recommend this place for everyone who is looking for a nice place to get some great standard fare.

The garlic fries were spicy in the best way, perfectly crisp, and served steaming hot. The Duck Stack (pancakes covered with duck gravy, onions, and a duck egg) sounded a bit odd to me (and probably many others). When I asked the server if it was good, they told me that people travel to the restaurant specifically for that dish. I'm glad I tried it. Again, very unique with a well balanced spice profile paired with the delicious undertones of a hot pancake. I know I would have never thought of that, doesn't sound like it should work, but....it worked! Service was great, atmosphere was a bit loud with a band playing next door, it was a bit overwhelming, plus a random dude walked into the restaurant and a server lit his joint for him as a courtesy(?)...stunk the place up for a few minutes, but as I thought about it, I decided that was about the most "Portland" thing I had seen all week on my trip :) I'll be going back for sure, I would love to taste through that entire menu. Did I mention the Foie Gras Dumplings? I never had anything like them in my life. That's a dish I would definitely travel back to Portland for.

Reservation confirmation said, that door opens at 6:30pm and dinner service starts at 7pm. Phew, I'm sometimes bad with predicting the traffic patterns, so that gives you a little cushion. AND I arrived at 6:30pm on the dot. Ha! Plenty of street parking, but I wasn't sure I was in the right place since there was no sign. But, the building's number is clearly marked. So I stepped inside. There was music playing from the back of the building and I just kept moving towards the music. After 2 doorways, my husband remarked it was like we were entering a speakeasy. We stepped into a living room and proceeded through another doorway to find an open kitchen and jaw dropping red alder dining table. Standing in the kitchen was Chef Riley Eckersley and he greeted us like we were old friends. He had a couple of cocktails ready to pour and explained his concept of his place that has only been open for 3 weeks. Imagine an intimate dinner party (6 guests the night I was there) gathering for conversation while being taken on a culinary journey around Oregon. Throughout the evening, every detail was carefully curated, from the ingredients (from the coast to the mountains, he covered every corner), to the plating, music, and drinks (everything from mezcal, sake, orange wine, etc). The whole experience lasts 2 1/2-3 hours and I enjoyed every minute. I will certainly return as the menu changes with the seasons of Oregon. We began the evening as strangers, and ended as close friends.

When we got there in time for our reservation, the host was on the phone making us wait a few minutes for his attention. Then, we were seated near the main passageway at a fourtop even though we were just two and there were a lot of two tops available for the early reservation. Our female server was rushed from the get go. While I was perusing the drink menu, she ran off to get my partner his wine because he had decided already. She wasn't willing to wait 5 seconds for me to decide. She was in a hurry to service other diners. It wound up being this way throughout the meal. There was constant rushing and not paying attention to us. It felt awkwardly harried. The problem with the food was my dish came half hot, half cold. The quail was hot and very flavorful while the pureed peas and potatoes were served cold under the quail. Normally, I would send it back for this, but I was too hungry and didn't want to hassle it. This entree was $38. But the biggest offense was that I wrote the restaurant about my experience and they did not respond. I might give a place another chance if they cared enough to hear from their customers and apologize, but that didn't happen. Hence this review.

We all liked the nicely flavorful side dishes meant for sharing and would encourage everyone to try those.
