At first, our experience with Ion Solar was very good. They installed our solar panels in June 2026, and the installation itself was excellent. Unfortunately, their complete lack of customer service has been the real problem since then. Every time my husband calls for an update on the permit required for our final inspection--before the system can be activated--we get another explanation for the delay. We're told the city is responsible for delays in issuing a permit, or that something else is holding it up. Meanwhile, more than 23 solar panels are sitting on our roof, completely inactive. Installing solar panels is only part of the job. Customers should not have to repeatedly call just to find out why their completed system still cannot be used. Ion Solar has been a massive disappointment, and I will make certain our neighbors, friends, and acquaintances know how awful the company is. read more

Update spent Over 3000$ on PGE bills last year and Robert today told us that we were over using and the 24 panels werent enough for 2 people! Do no use them! Will update every month to keep at the top of the page to help others DO NOT USE, THEY ARE LIARS!!!! My bill last month was over 400$ 1500 square feet home. 51,000$ system!They tell you that all you have to do is follow their checklist and it's an easy install. Got the contract in April they put it on the house in May. Quick and easy right? NO, the system wasn't turned on till August because after the loan started we couldn't get them on the phone or on email. We had to contact PGE to get the paperwork pressed through on 5 different occasions. After dozens of phone calls it was finally turned on after missing months of sun and still paying electric bills. The bill dropped to 13 for 2 months then in the winter was 125, 227, 321, and then 422 last month. When called to ask what was going on they say the system is running fine and maybe we didn't get enough panels for our small house 51,000$ and it's our fault. As of now they still aren't planning on sending anyone and we're talking to an attorney. Don't be lied to! read more

I will never purchase Solar from ION. Once the site survey was done, they dropped me like a hot potato. They proceeded to pull permits without my permission and before giving me a quote. I knew I needed a new roof, so it was imperative I get a quote up front. I called my sales person, my site survey person and customer service multiple times leaving messages to get an update after waiting 2 weeks post survey, but no one called back. They didn't text back or reply to my emails, either. I even told them they did not have my permission to pull permits with the city or PGE, yet they did. If this is how they treat a customer they are trying to sell them a $30k system, then how wwill they treat an existing customer. read more

A hard sales pitch on a Monday even after telling him I wasn't interested....he just showed up on Wednesday. I had to tell him to get the F off my property and his heavy sales-pitch made my decision not to work with this company. If you have a great deal of patience, this might be your company, but for me, I'll never consider working with them. read more

They provided a contract with a system we agreed upon and then came to the house and installed a completely different system- they are in breach of contract and are ignoring us. So we have 16 useless panels sitting on our roof. They refuse to get in touch so we are starting the process of filing with CCB official complaint to BBB and have an attorney identified- what a joke they are. RUN FROM THEM! read more

They continue to pester us, causing our dogs to bark and wake our sleeping baby, despite the fact that we've asked them MULTIPLE times not to return. In Monday 16 December 2024 at 17:54 US/Pacific, Hadem Nazarri (sp?) *again* solicited at my door in violation on a "No Soliciting" sign. I didn't realize it was a repeat until I went to leave this review. I also spoke to an executive at the company and was told back in 2022 I'd be on their "No Solicit" list, as you see in reviews below the company responds and says they do. It's a bold-faced lie. Do not reward their aggressive and illegal marketing tactics! Original review below: On Thursday 25 August 2022 at 12:35 US/Pacific in NE Portland, Oregon, an Ion Solar representative who identified himself only as Jim and would not give further contact information ignored the clearly displayed "No Soliciting" sign displayed prominently on the property and proceeded to disrupt the household, with folks who work from home present and visibly working via the window, to make a sales pitch. When asked why he ignored the "No soliciting" sign, he said that he "thought the sign was cute" so he knocked (the sign has a cute image of a dog on it, but clearly reads "NO SOLICITING"). When I phoned the company, they said they never heard of "Jim", but that they do engage in door knocking practices for marketing. I asked to be sent a copy of their guidelines for employees who do this (specifically wanting to see if they are instructed to follow No Soliciting directives), and they refused. I encourage folks to avoid this company due to aggressive and inappropriate marketing tactics. read more

HUGE SCAM DO NOT USE ION SOLAR!! complete mess delayed me over a year. Multiple times taken off work. Damage to house. They send unlicensed electricians out that dont know how to wire properly or install. Had power issues after they were messing with electrical on a brand new house.After much wait, absolutely nothing. They have no idea if it will even work. Utah customer service is terrible. Use another reputable solar company. Dont waste your time or money. Would give no stars if it were possible. The only bright side is the tech from the local warehouse. Wow. I really wish I chose a different company for my solar panels. I feel stuck and extremely frustrated. It's an entire system of incompetence. I can't get frustrated at a single person on the phone because of course they didn't cause the issue. But no one fixes the issues. A really simple thing was that I had to formally ask at least 4x to have my husband's number removed from the account and to only call/text my number. I don't know how his number got on there but the loan is in my name and I'm the one that works from home. The first time I asked they said they couldn't remove numbers, only add them. Weird but okay. They said they could put a note to call mine. They didn't. They continually called my husband which caused major scheduling delays. I had to ask 3 more times before the number was actually removed. When I'm put on the phone with someone that's supposedly assigned to my account, they have no clue what is going on. The first city inspection failed because they used a 40 amp breaker. ION (after several weeks) "fixed" it by changing it to a 35 amp. Inspector came back and kindly showed me the notes he gave ION. It was very simple. 30 amp was what is required. I called ion back to see when they are fixing it but whoever needs to speak with me is conveniently out by 4pm MST and I was calling at 2:55 PST (3:55 MST). They'll "call me back". Which is a promise I've heard countless times that they haven't delivered on. I have to call them. I've had friends ask about solar panels and would love to get referral credit but absolutely won't recommend anyone to ION. Awful service. read more

0/5 - Salesperson (Enrique Guzman) 3/5 - Project coordinator (Thomas Nevin) 5/5 - Installation team 2/5 - Overall communication ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TL;DR - Enrique Guzman (sales) promised incentives but did not deliver on these incentives until I reached out to corporate to complain 60+ days after panel installation. Enrique also misled us on PGE billing after installation (details below). Project team was helpful. Installation team was courteous and respectful. Overall comms were pretty messy. Our interaction with Ion Solar started in Nov'2022 with a D2D sales rep knocking on our door to pique our interest in solar. From there, we scheduled an appointment with their salesperson Enrique Guzman. Enrique showed up and presented us the "potential savings" of installing solar and how it will essentially pay for itself as it will offset our electric bill entirely. He also mentioned that we would be put on a 12-month billing cycle with PGE after installation. Neither of these points turned out to be true. I asked a good friend of mine if he would be interested in going in on solar together to see if we can get a better deal from Enrique. Enrique offered us each a $1,000 check and $300 Nike/HOKA gift cards to be sent upon installation if we signed up with him. We thought it was a good deal so we both signed up. Mind you, these incentives were verbal agreements; none of this was on paper. Fast forward to Jan'2023, panels are installed. My friend and I reached out to Enrique Guzman for the promised incentives and were both met with a short "yup on it". This went on for 30+ days. We would reach out to check on the progress of these incentives and Enrique would either send a "will these sent out ASAP" or straight up ghost us. Having been fed up, we reach out to Ion Solar corporate. Thomas Nevins hears our story and sends an email out to Enrique and cc'ing us both on it. Enrique Guzman responds to the email with a "yup on it". To our surprise, we received the $1,000 via Zelle a week later. However, the $300 Nike/HOKA gift cards were still nowhere to be found. At this point, we're 60+ days past installation and we were still missing the last half of our promised incentives. So I finally submitted my post-installation survey, giving them a score of 1/10. Enrique IMMEDIATELY responds by sending both my friend and I the promised $300 gift cards. Why did it have to take so long and so many different parties to get Enrique Guzman to fulfill his promise to us? Furthermore, why did he have to lie to us about the 12-month billing cycle? This was a complete bait-and-switch. Had we known that he was going to treat us like this after signing, we would NEVER have signed with Ion Solar. And to be honest, both my friend and I are struggling with buyer's remorse after this experience. We would NOT recommend Ion Solar. read more

These guys came to my house as a cold call. A young man showed up on a hover board (I'm not joking) and asked if I'd like a free consult for Solar for my house. I specifically said "only if there is no cost to me". The hoverboarder promised that through grants etc that there are no costs and it's just like having a normal electrical bill. A day or so later another guy came out to do a consolation. He pulled out an iPad and showed me their plan for the install. First red flag was that they wanted to put panels on the side of my roof that does not face the sun. Second red flag was that he would not hand me the iPad to read closely. The 3rd MAJOR red flag was that he was pressuring me to sign a contract for around $20,000(!!!!!) right then and there after a 5 minute presentation with the fun prospect of months of work (which seems extremely excessive. My neighbors had solar installed in 2 days) . I asked for this (poorly made) documentation to be sent to me so that I could look over it carefully. The guy was visibly frustrated said they would email it to me (I never gave them my email address as they cold called me in person). He rushed out the door and I never heard from them again. This place is clearly trying to make a quick buck off of people that won't question and are easily bullied into signing things. Stay away. read more

Don't believe them when they say the solar will completely eliminate the electric bill. They straight up swindled us. This is a really crooked business! I've even thought of contacting the police. We were looking at lots of different solar companies because my partner is really smart and cautious. He insists on doing his research. They told him to sign and he could cancel anytime before they started work. My partner found someone better and went to cancel. But what they said was a blatant lie, and they stole $3500 saying you couldn't cancel after signing, the opposite of what the rep told him. We have a disabled daughter with a lot of expenses. Had Solar Panels inatalled by ION Solar and since they were installed am on my third failure of system for the same problem. They have very poor service for repair. They do not show up as promised if you can even get thru to some one that will schedule a person to come out and repair system. The last person to come out four days ago gave up on the repair and was told that an electrician needed to come out but no one showed up. So yesterday called and was finally able to get thru to schedule repair after four attemps to get thru. Well guess what another no show. They are a HORRIBLE company who will do anything to make a sale. They will lie straight to your face. First thing that should deter anyone is the fact I can't get my reviews to post anywhere! Last summer they came and gave us a quote for solar panels. We told them we didn't really want to get solars yet because we knew we were coming up on needing a new roof. They told us to not worry about it, when the time comes for a new roof they will lift and replace the panels for free the first time. On top of the fact they will inspect our roof. Inspection and everything ran smooth. We were told we had a solid 5 years left of life on the roof. We proceeded with the panels. Fast forward to now. Our roof does not have the proper ventilation and we NEED to replace the roof. I call Ion to let them know and they told me they will send a quote out on lifting and replacing. I informed them what we were told and they asked if we had it in writing. I told them know, we were told this. They told me that I was misinformed and there is a fee, but since I was misinformed they will "discount it". It is going to cost $9,000 to lift and replace the damn things! That's supposedly the discounted rate. The panels aren't even a year old and that's 1/3 of the original cost! I then also come to find out they verbally tell people this frequently! Horrible experience, so far. Took forever to get installed. Multiple teams started and stopped before it finally got done. The only reason it got done was my loan preapproval was about to expire. Everything got installed and still took 3 months to get stickers for the boxes and Aep approval. After all of that mess, 9 months later I have a brown spot in my ceiling in a bedroom, called Ion to come out. They sent an inspection team in about 2 weeks after the call and photos were sent. They go to attic and come down and said the roof looked improperly installed. They showed me photos of black mold growing on the plywood in areas, I let them know I bought the house less than 3 years ago with a full inspection. After showing them reports they agreed to climb on the roof and look. After about 10 mins all 3 team members said it was a Ion Solar issue the panels were installed the "old way" directly under the singles. This wasn't the total issue, the real issue was they did not seal anything. So I have 19 solar panels shoveled under the shingle and no sealant anywhere and the rain has been going into my attic. 24 Hours later no response or anything from Ion Solar. I have never sued anyone or wanted to. but a lawyer maybe needed soon. read more

He said he'd have to get my name and email address to take me off his list to which I said no and then began filming me and saying I shouldn't report him because he's just out of HS. A young man came to my door offering a free consult. Since I have been thinking about solar panels for awhile, I said yes. Guy shows up the next day and we spend a couple of hours going over everything from what's involved, how much energy would be produced, what it would save me, relationship with the power company, possible structure updates that might be needed to my older house, cost of engineering evaluation and what it would cost me. I told him I am interested and would like a copy of the proposal to look over and sleep on it. He said he would email it to me. Never heard from him again. Turns out this is the way they operate. They want you to sign now and don't think about it. I would stay away from this company, or at least ask for time to think it over. read more

I am in Oregon and had recently signed up with ION Solar. I had met with two other Solar companies after ION and decided to go with ION ONLY because I was promised to received an incentive that will reimbursed me with on my energy bill until next summer. Since it was getting to winter in Oregon lacks sunlight during winter. That was a big mistake! Grant from ION Solar was the sales man in Oregon, he claims he does San Diego, CA to Oregon so be aware. Don't believe in their lies about any incentives unless you are prepared to haggard them down consistently, no one has time for that!!! I am sure if they do this to me, I am not the only one which is why I want to leave these review here to make consumers aware!!!! Don't believe them if they tell you that you will ONLY see a $20-$40 in your energy bill after you install Solar!!! Do your own math and DD. Lies after lies to hook you in. I am $50K in the hole, I am still paying for my energy bill plus my loan with the solar. I am paying double to what I use to pay now. Hopefully, in the summer I can see some relief in Oregon. Also, not to mentioned they messed up my dry wall at my breaker box during install and had to send a tech out to patch it up. However, the tech came out totally unprepared, didn't have paint, I just bought the home so there were some paint left behind and was able to give their tech the paint to use. Do your DD. The Salesman lies about everything. There is not ROI for these panels they could not sell them if they told the truth. After the payment on the loan it cost more than the original bill. They replace a 400 amp panel, with a 200 amp panel, and deleted 3 50 amp breakers. Try to apply as many policy violations as are applicable. And at what level of administration should the complaints go too? Be Objective Be, Be Objective, yea team. Be short on your complaint, Unacceptable behavior, note the policy violation, note the policy number, and the required penalty for violation. Submit the complaint to the relevant level of authority. (Hint) If you submit it to the perp it will get thrown away. I had one of my kids write up a complaint and submitted it to the principal, and then I went into her office and asked her to produce it but she couldn't. in 7 in. the water skips over the gutters and into the subfloor. The Power drop is mounted into the siding with small screws that are pulling out of the siding. The pole is sagging already and the panel is pulling off the wall. There are more defects in workmanship, and contracts, but my overall warning is do not use ION Solar. read more
