This company removed our old insulation from all 3 attics and from crawl space and replaced with new insulation. They also installed new vapor or water barrier in the crawl space. The work was done as planned without any glitches. It has been 5 years and no problems at all. I have recommended this company to several of my family members and friends who are also happy. Greensavers should be called lifesavers after the solid they did me. I have used Greensavers in the past for weatherization jobs and recommended them to friends who have also hired them. I recently purchased a home that needed a lot of love and Greensavers was one of the contractors that gave me a bid for work paid for by a home energy improvement loan. Two weeks before Greensavers were to come I called a different mechanical contractor to do a routine furnace maintenance. The tech discovered the unit was damaged. It was possible it could leak gas. I had a negative expereince with the contractor (another company) who performed the service. I did not feel comfortable moving forward with that company to do the furnace replacement so I called Greensavers the same day. I explained the situation, that the furnace needed to stay off even though it was getting colder and Mira came out that same day to work through the options with me. This required a lot of leg work for Mira and the team as supply chain issues for HVAC units, HVAC sizing, schedule and availability, space and electrical constraints, incentive programs and budget all had to be considered. There were so many moving parts! Within a couple of business days she had reviewed the incentives, consulted their HVAC techs, project managers, schedulers and gave me several options that would keep the total project dollar amount at the same level as the original scope of work and with the potential to get the job done soon so that the house would have heat. We walked through all of the potential pros and cons of the new scope of work: full electrification, air sealing, weatherization and ultimately landed on a plan that would improve comfort, energy efficiency, air quality and actually ended up costing less than the original scope. The team actually managed to get both the HVAC replacement and the weatherization job scheduled and completed during the same time frame for which the original job has been scheduled - despite the huge changeup in scope. When Mira handed off the job to Charlie (the project manager) and Daniel (the field crew lead) I was so impressed with how customer service oriented they were: they always asked me about the tradeoffs and gave their honest opinions about whether aspects of the job were worth it. Even seemingly little stuff - like would I still want the door weather stripping if there were a possibility it might damaged the newly renovated hardwoods - showed me they not just there to check a box - they were acting like partners in this project and showing they cared about my house and much as I do. This is a firm that specializes in clean electrification and we went deep into considering full electrification of this home, but due to sizing and supply chain issues it just didn't seem practical to go that route given that the heat was off and it could push the job out significantly. Charlie explained a few future options where an attic heat pump could use the furnace as auxiliary heat during cold weather days. I hadn't heard of this option before but when I checked with my energy efficiency and heat pump expert friends they were all aware that this was a great option for people who for reasons like mine ended up having to go with a gas furnace replacement due to timing, budget or both. Charlie and the crew always advocated for the best solution practical even if that meant that I would end up paying them less for the job overall. I super appreciated his and Mira's friendly and proactive approach to answering questions, explaining options and working with constraints. This week their crews came and did a fast, clean and efficient job of installing the new furnace and thermostat, insulating and air sealing the unfinished basement and HVAC ducts. They thought through all of the little details - they ran the line for the furnace condensate pump to an interior drain. This is a big deal. The condensate pump on my last furnace runs to the exterior of my house (a typical configuration) but this means when we have a cold snap it freezes and shuts down the HVAC completely. Their crew had already anticipated this potential problem before I brought it up! They ran new ductwork where the previous occupant had made some odd changes that interfered with window clearances. Somehow - even given the non standard size of the ducting and odd placement - Daniel and his team fit both the ducting and insulation in a way where the window could be operable. I hired GreenSavers to install a Mitsubishi Heat Pump in July 2024 in my 1991 one-level house built in 1991. The house had existing Duct work for the whole house. Every thing was installed in one day. I am very satisfied with the quality of the workmanship on the install and with all the people who worked on my project. I still have the gas water heater in my one-car garage and the crew had to move it a few inches to fit the larger heat pump into the area. I plan to replace the gas water heater in the future & will call GreenSavers for that too. I highly recommend this Mitsubishi product & GreenSavers. The cost will be decreased by an Energy Trust rebate of $1,000, a PGE rebate of $200 and a Federal tax credit of $2,000 on my 2024 taxes. What a deal and they helped me with the paperwork! read more

In 2017, I got quotes from 3 or 4 firms to install A/C in my home. My home is older -- built in 1949, and the heat was a natural gas boiler -- so I had no ductwork. After talking to a few firms, I narrowed in on proposals for a split system, with the compressor outside, an A/C unit up in my attic, and new ductwork to deliver cold air into bedrooms and living areas. Greensavers wasn't the cheapest option, but they were definitely competitive. I think they were the 2nd lowest price. The reason I went with them is that they also recommended that, while doing the A/C work in the attic, they do some new weatherization with insulation. It wasn't too expensive, and there was a generous tax credit from both the federal government and Energy Trust of Oregon. I figured that would be a nice complementary bit of work to the A/C. In 2017 I decided the timing just wasn't quite right. It was a relatively expensive project (about $17k), so I waited. Fast forward through the pandemic, and in the early spring of 2021 I decided to pull the trigger. I figured that there would be pretty significant inflation during that time (labor costs and what with everyone doing home improvement from the pandemic), but thankfully it wasn't too bad -- just a modest increase. They got me on the schedule for August, which seemed reasonable. Of course, in summer 2021 we had our heat dome event. Timing for my installation missed the first heat wave event (we managed, but it positively reinforced our decision to make the investment); As luck would have it, our installation date was moved up, and coincided with the second heat wave. Before A/C installation, the project manager met with us and we made decisions about locations for the vents and that sort of thing. He's a friendly guy and did some calculations that seemed to be focused on following some guidance for efficiency, which I appreciate. The A/C installation crew was great. It was actually a pretty large team -- 3 or 4 people every day, plus a crew of 2 from a sub-contracted electrician. I was happy with the crew -- they were friendly, took safety seriously (N95 masks, PPE type clothing when they were in the attic, frequent breaks, etc). Because of the heat, and because they were working in the attic, they let got started earlier in the morning than usual, and wrapped up the attic work each day around noon or 1pm. Through this time they communicated well. The install took a bit longer than usual because of the heat wave, but they powered through and kept us in the loop. They did a good job of rolling out some cloths to protect my wood floor and vacuuming each day, which was appreciated. After the A/C install, the weatherization crew was also able to move up their install date to the next week. It was a similar experience -- a pretty large group of installers (2 trucks worth), and I guess I didn't really understand the volume of insulation we were talking about. It was a lot! They seemed to know what they were doing, and stayed fairly late to finish up the project. My interactions with the office staff to coordinate invoicing and payment have been good. They are submitting the paperwork for the Energy Trust credit for me, and pointed me to the right federal tax credit form. Our A/C is such a luxury. The system came with a nest thermostat, which has some nice energy-saving features, and we are getting nice clean filtered cold air. The vents look pretty good, and I just have a few small bits of drywall that I'm responsible for touchup painting. read more

I ordered a Mitsubishi 3 zone mini split system (non hyper heat) and the system was installed in about 2.5 days partial work days (over a holiday) for the crew. Everyone at this company was friendly prior to the install and I chose this company because I liked the folks. There was a small issue with the gravity drain line and they came out the next day very early AM and fixed the gravity problem. The other two units have pumps. They are exactly what I wanted and work great so far. Now, if your system requires pumps (where gravity won't do the trick), you will hear these kick on when the reservoir fills up. Also, if you set your system to have the flaps move they will make a slight clicking sound. I will update my review when this thing has been cooling my house full blast. A note for anyone considering mini-split AC/Heat pumps: To choose a contractor for a 3 zone mini-split (I preferred Mitsubishi non hyper heat) I got five quotes. These are systems you can find online retail for about $4200 (wholesale of about $3600) and the installation cost is about $900-1000 and electrical work is about $900-1000 with permits costing whatever they cost. In Portland a system like this will have the companies put in about $3200-5000 in margin/overhead over their cost to buy and install the system for you. That is high. Many treat the state rebate as something they are doing for you. It is not. It is your benefit. All bids were high considering real costs. I chose Greensavers because they had the best offer price even though I considered their price inflated. They told me what the margin/overhead was so I respected their honesty even if I thought the margin of about $3200 was high. I had two other HVAC guys make better counter offers, but I had already signed with Greensavers. So, the lesson I learned is that you should get a bunch of quotes and be proactive and ask them to drop the price a whole lot! I wish I had said "If you dropped the price $1000 I would sign today" to every contractor since I am sure one of them would have said "Sure thing!" read more

GreenSavers has wonderful knowledge during the estimation phase, which we were happy to pay more for (their bid was significantly higher than others). However, working with them was one of the worst home improvement experiences we have ever had, and it happened TWICE (gave them another chance on a new home to rectify the previous experience- it was horrendous). I refrained from leaving a negative review for 2 years, but after the system they installed had ANOTHER problem that we had to call in someone else to fix (an installation error), I gave in. I am continuously surprised at how poorly very expensive things were installed. I'm sure I could call and ask them to do the repairs, but the pain of dealing with them is not worth it. read more

I hired Greensavers to do some weatherization and to install a heat pump system with ducted and ductless components. I've had nothing but problems, and communication from Greensavers has been imprecise, slow, and evasive. First, they installed the wrong outdoor unit. What I asked for, and what they specified in the quote they gave me, was a Mitsubishi 42k BTU system, of which only one model exists, which was a HyperHeat model. They instead installed a 40k BTU system without HyperHeat. When I pointed out this error to them, they required me to pay extra to get them to install the unit they had quoted in the first place. On top of that, the unit they had installed wasn't working properly. Then when I brought up the constant clicking and popping and creaking noises from the indoor units, which was loud enough to wake me repeatedly all night, every night, whether the units are turned on or not, they were slow in responding on trying to take action. Consistently, they would wait until the very end of the day on Fridays to reply to my emails, and even if I answered within 2 or 3 minutes, it would be the next Friday again until they replied. On at least one occasion, the person they were sending out to try to fix the problem never even showed up. Then, after almost 4 months of slow back and forth communication and no resolution to the problems, they've simply stopped responding to me. The last time that they came out to try a fix was in mid April, and I let them known on April 19th that the problem still existed. They haven't replied to any of my contact attempts since then, and it has been a month and a half. Here we are now, half a year after the system was installed, and there are still problems that Greensavers has acknowledged, but is refusing to make right. This is after they installed the wrong unit and made me pay extra to get the unit I needed (and that they quoted) installed instead. read more

This company took my money and conducted an audit, and after repeated requests on my end for the results and repeated promises on their end to give the results and a promise of a refund, have yet to do so in the 7+ months since the audit was conducted. This was after a multiple month wait on their wait-list to get the energy audit in the first place. The installation was completed on time and the workers even cleaned up the 3rd floor. They were careful not to damage the newly installed wood floors and all debris was carried away by Greensavers. My uncle and I contacted GreenSavers to come out and give us an estimate to install a water heater that we had already purchased. The initial phone call was professional, but we had to schedule our pretty far. The gentleman who came out to give us an estimate turned out to be an architect, not an installer. He couldn't answer all of our questions about what would be needed for installation, but took lots of pictures. We waited for several business days for an estimate to come back. When the estimate came, we didn't think it was the estimate for our property, as it didn't include the items we had asked for and referred to a different water heater than the one we had purchased. The response for clarification to the emailed estimate was that it was intended for us, and that it would probably be too difficult to install the needed ducting, but if we needed to do it, they could half the work (vent the exhaust) for $450. * We spoke with Aaron, the Operations Manager. He called to see where things got off the tracks and make things better. I appreciate the professionalism in that, but have already purchased the items to do the install myself. read more

Had work done by them and come to find out they never finished the checks by the county. They paid for the permits but never completed them. We had to repay for permits as they had expired. They have offered to pay for the new permits but it's extremely frustrating to deal with issue that should have been taken care of by them. We would have never known this even happened but we came across it looking at county records. Be sure they 100% finish the county permits, can bite you later if you don't Update: they finally took care of refunding us the proper fees and were super helpful and prompt. They installed an hvac system in our attic, which opened up our basement completely for a clean slate remodel there. The hvac system has kept our house so comfortable and our bills very reasonable. Update - I had a good conversation w/ GreenSavers about the outcome of our project. I really felt like they cared that we were disappointed and did truly want to try and make it right. The biggest issue is the noise in our ducts after cellulose being blown in around them. They sent two people out to look into this for us, who did a really thorough job of inspecting and trying several things to alleviate the issue. I appreciate very much the level of effort and as I said before, how nice everyone is. Despite all the honest effort, the ducts sounds are unfortunately not resolved yet. The sound changed and got slightly more muffled, but it's still there. They indicated they would come back and try again to resolve it more thoroughly - which I really hope they are able to do. I still wish we hadn't spent the money on this particular project, but I am now feeling more hopeful that they will at least help us resolve the duct noise, so that even if we don't feel the project improved our situation, we'll be able to say it didn't make it worse. I am really happy with the efforts that have been made so far. read more

They were much more affordable than the big named company I got an estimate from and only slightly more expensive than the people who were not able to do all of the things I needed. They replaced our bath fans and vented them to the outdoors, they installed all kinds of insulation, and they never complained about all the times I asked them to come out and double check on things for me. If you don't know, just say you don't know. Don't make something up. I called for a quote on a Nest Learning Thermostat installation, and was informed by a woman that this was a $400 service. I advised her that she must be mistaken because the product itself was only $250 (I already had one on hand) and part of Nest's whole deal is that installation is easy ("most customers install Nest themselves, and three out of four DIYers install Nest in less than 30 minutes. Moreover, 99 percent of Nest DIYers would install Nest themselves again."). So you're asking for $800/hour? For something a DIY'r could do? Note that the other two quotes I got for installation from other entities were $50 and $75 respectively. Credibility completely lost. read more

We have been quite pleased with GreenSavers's service and 'product' from beginning to end. We found them through their Chinook Book coupon for a home energy audit. Two nice people came out, poked, prodded, crawled and noted their way around the house. They were pleasant to talk with, and patient with my general energy-saving questions. A week later, one of them returned to present a proposal for a variety of projects. We didn't feel pressured to choose any one project. In fact, we told them that we'd need to pause the process. After a few month's diligent, professional follow-up, they checked in at the right time and with the right news: we might be a contender for the Zonolite Attic Trust (ZAT)'s 50% rebate on removing the vermiculite from our attic, air sealing the space, and then re-insulating. Who would say 'no' to them coming by to pick up a sample of our insulation? For better or worse, the result came back positive; we had vermiculite in our attic. With our permission, GreenSavers confirmed with the ZAT that we were candidates for the rebate. Woohoo! But wait, we were having some remodeling done in the kitchen. Could we please have the vermiculite remediated immediately, but wait on air sealing and re-insulating until that larger project was done? Sure, we were told. No problem. Finally, when GreenSavers came back to do the work, they did so quickly and expertly. As far as I can tell, they sealed the heck out of our two knee wall spaces, and -according to our wishes- preserved some usable storage space by using a different type of insulation. If you're still reading, you get the gist: this is a company you can trust. When my friends ask for referrals on this type of work, I won't hesitate to recommend GreenSavers. Warm winters. Cold summers. No. It's not about global warming, but rather the condition inside of my home. A turn of the century(1925) lathe and plaster home to be exact. After using scientific processes to determine how efficient or inefficient my energy use was, they devised a plan on how to save money on the utility bills. They installed insulation throughout my home. Venting where needed. And ceiling fans to remove trapped moisture from kitchen and bathroom. I got to choose where to get my loan (craft 3) and pick a utility through which I can pay my energy loan( NW Natural). My upgrades cost a little over $8,000 with around %5 finance. What a difference!! Now, the upper attic/ bedroom stays cool during hot summers. The ceiling is cool to the touch, as before, without insulation, the ceiling was hot. In winter, the gas furnace works half the time it used to. Majors savings every day of every year! Well worth the small investment, Green and clean! I love all animals and it has been strangely comforting that my very energy inefficient home has been creating warm microclimates for local wildlife through my home's constant energy-loss all winter long. I could stand by a window located right above a heater vent and feel cold air blowing at me while entire families of squirrels and birds huddled together outside to enjoy the backdraft of heat I was providing. I swear, when I woke up in the morning and headed for the thermostat to turn it up, those little critters would yell to each other, "She's turning our heat on!," as they vied for position near all my home leaks. It was a Walt Disney movie come to life. I didn't mind at all having to wear two pairs of socks, thermal underwear, multiple layers of clothing, hats, and gloves, in my own home...while those sweet little animals cozied up to the perimeter of my house in their summer best. It was actually heartwarming to see them in their cute little beach outfits. Totally worth the big check to NW Natural each month. Alas, the day the GreenSavers truck pulled up outside my house to do an energy audit the sky filled with heavy dark clouds, ominous and foreboding. The critters shrieked, threw on winter hats and scurried away to safety, leaving the front path finally cleared for visitors. The GreenSavers crew walked on up and began a process that would forever change the lives of these entitled and dependent furry squatters. That fateful day the GreenSavers crew consisted of Jennifer and David. They found all sorts of energy leaks in my house after measuring, looking in nooks and crannies, and putting to work some very high-tech machinery testing the airflow in cubic feet per minute. It was a sad report that was generated. All told, my house was doing a bang-up job heating up the air directly outside for my neighbor critters. Jennifer and David wanted to rectify this inefficiency. They proposed lots of options for me, such as sealing up all exterior openings in the home; insulating the attic, the exterior walls, the floors, my furnace ducts and water pipes; and even installing a state-of-the-art bathroom fan to mitigate moisture in the house. I signed the paperwork and the GreenSavers crew went hard to work! Their project manager, Esther, took great care of my worries and the work started immediately! If you have any pets in your home and are worried about leaving them at home while you are away...don't be worried. The GreenSavers crew can handle it! And my dog who only likes about five people on this planet, LOVED the GreenSavers crew. GreenSavers Glue Crew (I just made that up...you know, they're the workers who seal up the energy leaks) got to work sealing up my home. I was literally blown away by their focus, attention to detail, efficiency, and hard work. Insulating in a crawl space is no easy feat. Insulating walls by perforating the exterior of the home (essentially making the house look like swiss cheese) and then sealing up all the holes and repainting so no one can see, was perhaps the best magic trick EVER. The leak fixers (see, doesn't "Glue Crew" sound better?!) were AWESOME. Javier, Gustavo, and Francisco were quite a team. They had so many things going on at once and there was no mess anywhere. Truly a symphony. They were very friendly and took great pride in their work. They found terrible things and took care of them! They did extra work that wasn't even included in the contract! They always arrived on time and worked very long hours. From the first night after the workers removed asbestos tape from my furnace ducts and in three places the ducts just fell apart (not having been sealed together properly in the first place and allowing all sorts of things to enter my airspace) the air in my home was completely changed. No longer did dusty air come out of my vents. The air was clean and the house started to feel...WARM!!! But now there is a whole town of critters outside my house. They look so cold and are all bundled up. They are all carrying tiny little signs that say, "We are the 1%." Hmmmm. What do I do now? GreenSavers will work within your budget and help you prioritize projects so you get the most comfort in your home for your money. The wildlife will resent you, but you will shiver in your home no more. And the Energy Trust will send you a big REBATE check when the work is complete! What a deal! read more

High pressure sales by two people who walk around with your clipboard and act like they know everything but really, it's all about the big sale. Received other bids from different folks and the prices were much better. Knez Insulation did our walls from the interior during a remodel for half the quoted cost. They also acted like our furnace needed immediate replacement (it's still running fine; even have the gas company come check it out after their dire warnings) and they made our basement windows seem like the Everest of window jobs -- aka mission impossible. Oh, a friend replaced those. No big deal. They look great and the basement is now spider free and much more weather insulated. I fear for old ladies who get this knock on their door. They did a great job adding insulation through out the house and removing old electrical wiring. The only problem was the destruction of a plant that all the workers replaced. They were courteous, efficient and cleaned up after the job. If we ever have any other home improvement plans, they will be the first ones to call. read more

I purchased several windows and a tankless water heater from GreenSavers a few months ago for my 1924 house with several aluminum sliders. Their craftsmanship is phenomenal. All the installers who came to the house did an excellent job. I was a bit worried because the weather was getting worse when they started the work. I came home on a windy day when they were installing several of the windows and when I walked in there was no wind whistling through my windows, no windows rattling, and Northwest Natural is getting less of my money. Those installers have amazing attention to detail. We have two small dogs who love also loved the attention from the installers. Every time a gate was open, they would ask to make sure the dogs didn't escape. I think the dogs still miss being petted by them. I am very happy to recommend them. read more

Easy to coordinate with and good work--we've got a house that holds heat a lot better now. But I wasn't prepared for how much the work crew would need to leave our front and back doors open; our cat escaped temporarily. I would have appreciated more information about how the crew would need to leave the house open. read more

They treated my home as if it were their own. I always sensed that they were looking to create the best possible outcome for me, rather than just completing a job. Also, they stayed right with it when I requested a few corrections prior to sign off. Very impressive; totally satisfied. In the beginning, the consultation was very professional and courteous promising discounts and tax rebates. By the end, I wish I had we had gone with anyone else. We have an old house that needed insulation in the upstairs. The project was scheduled and started but then radio silence - little and then eventually communication for weeks. Project manger disappeared (never to return) and by the time the manager figured out the status, our lights downstairs were flickering because they had blown insulation directly onto the wiring and covered up the light fixtures which is potentially a fire hazard endangering my family. They had to take out all the insulation and start the project over because no one could figure out what work had actually been done. They finished the insulation but they never followed up to finished the painting - we completed this on our own. After several discussions with the manager who eventually stopped communicating with ysand a small discount, my wife and I agreed to pay to be clear of conscience and to be rid of them. The project was forecasted to last a week and dragged on for nearly 4 months. We did not receive any tax rebates. I think these people are probably well-intentioned but in over their heads in terms of running a business. Work with them at your own risk. Love this company! Terrific helpers, they came and gave great suggestions and they do all the paperwork for rebates- they ended up saving me half of the cost of insulating my house and then I made all that money back in heat savings in less than two years! Cant say enough read more
