I was referred to Green Ridge Solar after I submitted an inquiry through Energy Trust of Oregon for a battery storage system. A battery storage system is a battery backup system that provides a home with AC power even when the power goes out. Battery systems are often installed by solar contractors, but solar is not necessary in order to get a backup system. Green Ridge Solar reached out to me by email and by phone pretending that I had made a request for solar, which I hadn't. After I explained that I was not interested in solar, an "Energy Advisor" named Austin sent me an email (see attached pictures) claiming (1) they "cannot" provide a battery backup system unless I have a solar array, and (2) that if I already have solar, the cost of "rewiring" an existing solar array to accommodate a battery system "usually starts at around $50,000." Regarding the first claim, there's no reason why a solar contractor cannot install a battery backup system without solar. If they choose not to do so, that's certainly their own business decision. But, to claim that they "cannot" is false. Nothing about a battery backup system requires solar. Presumably, they just wanted to sell me solar panels in addition to the backup battery. And the second claim is just complete BS. The total cost of a two-battery Tesla Powerwall system (which includes the batteries, wiring, gateway, inverter, etc), installed, is between $18,000 and $30,000. Claiming that it costs $50,000 just to "rewire" an existing PV system to **accommodate** batteries just completely false. It seems as if they hoped that I wouldn't know better, and might opt to hire them to replace my existing solar system (at a price that would undoubtedly be far lower than $50,000) just so that I could get a battery system. No thanks!

Open junctions, inoperable outlets and switches, questionable wiring, and unfinished projects: these are some of the trappings of owning an older home. Paul came out to do an estimate on our project. I had the project bid by multiple companies. Winner's attitude, willingness to take on the project, and prompt follow up with a quote earned them the job. We had a scheduling mishap, but I won't take stars off for that. It was resolved quickly. I am super happy with the work completed. The electricians came out and worked most of the day in all areas of my home. They replaced breakers, outlets, switches, and resolved loose and unsafe wiring that was downstairs and in my garage. Winner answered my questions, and if something didn't seem right, they worked together to find the root cause of the issue rather than applying a workaround. I was so happy with the work completed, that I hired Winner back a second time, a couple weeks later, to complete the wiring to an outbuilding and reconfigure the wiring in my garage. That work was largely completed Friday - waiting on a part to finish up a couple aspects, but I'm happy with this work as well. I would use their services again, and I would recommend to others.

Electric Norm had great reviews and seemed to be a local, one-man operation. An eager fellow working hard to run a local business... just the sort of firm I prefer to give my business to. No idea what the history on this operation is but I gather there is no Norm just like there is no Sara Lee or Oil Can Henry. Not a huge deal but... I used the yelp "get a quote" feature which has served me well in the past and sent "Norm" a detailed description of what needed to be done. Basically a simple 15' run of two GFI circuits terminating in a couple of quad receptacle boxes. Probably a couple of hours work at most. Phil, who is apparently the owner responds telling me to call him. Sigh.... if I wanted to call I would have not taken the time to type out such a detailed scope of work message. That and I am hearing disabled and don't have a phone. I inform Phil thusly and am given a list of his requirements to come out which includes providing a mobile phone number to text. I'm wondering what part of "hearing disabled, no phone" went over Phil's head. So minus stars for lack of basic intelligence and reading comprehension skills. And minus more starts for being a "my way or the highway" proprietor who seems to lack basic customer relations. skills. Your experience with this place may well differ from mine. And based on the glowing recommendations here on Yelp it was my expectation that "Norm" would come out, give me a competitive bid and then execute the project quickly and professionally. I wasn't even planning on getting multiple bids assuming the bid I got from "Norm" was in the sane range of a few hunded bucks. So major disappointment there. Extremely rare to be let down by Yelp. Perhaps Phil just has more business than he can handle now and doesn't really need or want mine?
