Contacted thru my home warranty when my furnace died. Warranty company said they'd cover the cost of my furnace and I believe the labor. Clean Air Act quoted me $5100 for "parts" that were not covered to install. Contacted an independent, licensed contractor - they quoted me $3200 all in - including the furnace. For those of you doing the math, that's a massive gap of unnecessary charges. Im sure tons of unsuspecting home owners will still suck it up and pay them. At one point we had another company come to service our 50-year-old furnace when the Clean Air Act was busy, and they took one look and recommended a total furnace replacement. Hesitant, we waited for the Clean Air Act to come out and sure enough they were able to easily complete the service - no replacement required. We will be loyal customers for life. read more

He determined what was wrong with my heat pump and showed me how to take care of it. I'd have them back anytime! read more

Update: The tech came back and still tried to convince me that I could not turn my system down below 68 or it would freeze up. I've learned not to argue with people who refuse to admit they're incorrect, so I let him leave saying the system was fine. Any good technician would have recommended installing a freeze stat if they really thought that was the issue. A freeze stat will shut off the compressor when it reaches freezing temps but will keep the fan running until the temps warm up enough to then start the compressor again. We still have a system not working consistently. Still would not recommend this company. read more

UNPROFESSIONAL & UNACCOUNTABLE (1 Star BBB) - NO HEAT FOR 2 YOUNG CHILDREN & 2 adults after 3 appointments were Scheduled (btw 1pm-5pm) on 3 on separate days to repair a failing furnace. Waited at home but NO-SHOW ON EACH APPOINTMENT & they WILL NOT RETURN CALLS. 5 days later, no heat, no contact & cannot speak to anyone from the company. We had Clean Air Act to come out and diagnose our mini split unit. The tech was unable to diagnose it correctly and quoted us $1800 to replace a coil on top of the $236 service fee. We had a second company come out and they quickly discovered it was in need of a deep clean which solved the problem. The $1800 repair would have been completely unnecessary. After receiving the invoice I asked for it to be re evaluated and they only offered to waive the credit card processing fee. I would avoid this company. Clean Air Act is the contractor sent out by home home warranty company, Landmark, to do pre-season inspections for both heating and cooling. Clean Air Act staff was professional, communicative, knowledgeable, and on time. While I have my opinions about the home warranty company, I have only been happy with Clean Air Act! I am fairly ignorant about everything to do with heating and cooling, so they helped me to understand how to open up my furnace and mini-splits to clean and replace the filters. They walked me through how to set each system via the thermostat and remote. They also, of course, took a look at the more technical parts and made sure my 10-20 year old system was working alright. It is - but these old system can plunk out any day, and when they do they're gone, the techs from Clean Air Act said. this company was assigned to me by my home warranty plan. they never completed the service (I was hospitalized during the service date) but informed my home warranty plan that they did. I called to inquire thinking it was an honest mistake on their end. there has been no follow up; they've falsified an invoice and lack the decency and integrity to make things right. basically they've stolen money, lied, and won't admit to the issue. stay away from them, this is not the correct way to run a business. I was assigned Clean Air Act through my home warranty company, American Home Shield. AHS is absolute trash and I immediately cancelled my service with them after this call. So why the great review for Clean Air Act? Their tech, Jayson, and their front desk person, Victoria, were the ones to help me navigate managing AHS so I could actually get my furnace fixed in a timely manner. Victoria helped me find an immediate slot for the next day for evaluation. Jayson came and diagnosed my furnace with a broken motor. My furnace is 20+ years old, so I asked him if I should just replace the furnace. I know this is a silly question to ask an HVAC company; OF COURSE they'll tell me to replace it as that's how they make money! But instead, Jayson told me very clearly NOT to replace the furnace and keep repairing it, since it was still in excellent shape and they don't make furnaces with such easy maintenance any more. Jayson also immediately submitted the request for the motor while he was at my house. He told me that AHS can be very slow to approve things so to pester them and they would order the part as soon as they could. I won't specify the number of ways AHS made this difficult as the review is not for them, but they did all they could to make it hard. However, Clean Air Act was able to get the part within a week and scheduled me for the next available slot. They came on time, installed the motor quickly, and had heat back on immediately. Excellent service, and would use them again to fix my furnace any time. read more

I was referred to Clean Air Act by my realtor. I contacted them via email on 7/20 and they promptly responded. Since it's summer they were booked until we 7/27 so I took the appointment. Jayson arrive promptly at the scheduled time and was very kind and informative. He quickly resolved that my capacitor was not working and that he had a replacement in the car. Got my wall unit AC working again in less than 30 min. I'm going to recommend this company to all the other condo owners here. read more

We recently moved here from out of state, and I had to leave my 'rolodex' of service companies behind. I'm happy to have found Clean Air Act to check off HVAC from my list. I have had them out a couple of times for general maintenance and tuning. My experience has been extremely positive. Very knowledgeable and punctual. The rates are reasonable. I typically don't wait around for things to break. I get the furnace serviced before it gets cold and the AC serviced before it gets hot. I was connected with Clean Air Act through my home warranty, and before CAA, my experiences with HVAC vendors had been hit or miss. And this was a definite hit. They first came to my home because my 20+ year-old furnace tried to kill me, and the tech quickly found the crack that was leaking toxic fumes into my home and recommended the furnace's replacement. CAA's staff then helped me navigate all the hoops put in place by my home warranty so I could get a new furnace for the best possible price, and were very accommodating in scheduling the install. The installers were even really great with my very nervous dog, letting her come to them on her terms and giving the necessary belly rubs to put her at ease. They've been back twice since to address issues with my AC, and each time I've been pleased with the professionalism and care displayed by their technicians. 2nd Update - we need a new furnace, so Clean Air has to submit a 'detailed diagnosis' to our Home Warranty company. Two days after the technician did his work, and we're still waiting for the home warranty company to get the diagnosis. Back down to 2 stars, trending towards 1. Update - they showed up, an hour late and apologetic. Looks like we're working towards solving the issue, but I'm still upset about spending the majority of my day in a cold house waiting. Back up to 3 stars. I'm sitting in my 49 degree house the day after Christmas, waiting for Clean Air Act to show up. They're now 33 minutes late to a 4 hour window, and have been non-responsive to calls all day. I'm hoping I'll be able to update this review with a positive ending, but for now this is a major bummer. 1 Star. read more

Luckily for me, I have a home warranty with Landmark, and the heater is covered. They contracted Rodger, and he came out the same day I called. Not only did he fix my unit, but he also gave me an informative tutorial so I could troubleshoot it myself in the future. Additionally, he gave me the down low on how to do a "background check" on contractors, and even told me I could call him for a recommendation if I wanted to. We encountered this company twice through our home warranty company, for a broken AC unit. Both the service techs and the office staff are lacking in basic business and customer service skills. The first encounter, the tech didn't properly diagnose the issue and the warranty company dismissed the claim. The second time, the tech found lots of things wrong with our AC (which we knew of course, since our house was 89 degrees inside with the AC set to 74). Long story short, the home warranty company finally approved a replacement AC unit and Clean Air Act did the work. The problem was it didn't get repaired until we'd already sold and moved out of the house. We agreed to split the out of pocket costs with the new owner, as the breakdown had occurred during our residency. Clean Air Act's accounting person called us asking for payment and when we tried to call back to make payment, nobody picked up the phone. We called 3 times during normal business hours and still no answer. We tried again another business day that week, around 10am, and finally after about 15 rings, an answering service picked up. We left a message asking them to email us an invoice, since making a payment over the phone obviously wasn't working out very well. Two weeks went by and we finally get an email with the invoice. The next day, we also get a phone call demanding we pay the invoice immediately. We told them we would mail the check this week, and that the invoice could have been paid weeks ago if someone had bothered to answer the phone or return our calls. The accounting person's response to that was "I don't care if you've tried to contact us, if you don't pay now, I'm going to charge you a late fee." Needless to say, we don't ever plan on doing business with Clean Air Act again and we don't recommend that anyone does. read more

This is the most unresponsive company I have dealt with in years. They mistakenly said we had a window unit vs. a wall unit to be replaced when it quit working after a number of years - and it's been way too long getting paperwork revised while we swelter in 95 degree heat! Don't do business with them! They are "too busy" to spend 2 minutes to fix paperwork that will allow us to use the benefits of our home warranty. read more

Seriously good people. We had a new furnace installed in April, gave us an honest price, were prompt and thorough, walked us through all the itemized things and didn't try to sell us on a bunch of extras. We have had two issues since then and they have come out same day each time. Just had them out earlier to fix the ac, and they had it running in about 15mins. Reading the other reviews seems to be related to home warranties. We do not have a home warranty, we have always called them directly and we understand they are a small, local company and they get busy. But when the owner of the company, Rodger, comes out to give you the initial estimate- not a salesman who has maybe done some hvac work in the past- I see that as a good sign that you're not going to get ripped off. We can't recommend them enough. And won't work with anyone else in the future. read more

This was just a first class experience. These people care! I came to CCA thru our home warranty company and thankfully I did. With the initial contractor I was about 80 days without a working furnace. Finally CCA was assigned to clean up the mess that we were in. We could not be more pleased. The office staff was great to work with and Rodger made us feel like we were his only client. I also want to point out that American Home Shield, my warranty company, doesn't cover everything and in certain instances there may be some out of pocket expense. Thru CCA my out of pocket was less than half of what the initial contractor wanted. If I have a next time for a repair I am going to insist on CCA. I just can't say enough good about CCA and it is not in my nature to recommend people but CCA is your answer. I read more

They must stay in business because the home warranty company pays them a retainer. Last summer it took for months for them to install a new air conditioning unit. They kept not returning calls until the summer had past. When I went to turn it on this season, it didn't work. It's been a month and 20 messages. Not a single call back. I just got back from a 10 day trip and left the house at 55 degrees. When we walked in, the temp was sub 40 degrees, same as outside. The furnace had stopped working! It was New Years Day and no other furnace repair company was answering the phone. When I called Clean Air Act Roger answered and was super nice. He said he could be over right away, but suggested that I turn off the system at the breaker and wait 10 min. If that didn't fix the problem then call him back. Well his suggest DID fix the problem and our house warmed right up. He could have not given us this advice, visited the house and replace a part that didn't really need it just for a few bucks. But he didn't. Great guy and if something major actually does break, I'm calling him first. He's proven his honesty and integrity and expertise. read more

Poor communication!!! They were out to diagnose the problem with the a/c on 7/21 and still has not bothered to send the diagnosis to American Home Shield as of 5pm, Friday 7/23. American Home Shield has called and emailed this company several times and I have called several times. Nobody bothers to return my call. The tenant feels ill from the heat. The tenant called this company to check on the status of the repair and they were told it is pending the property managers approval, which absolutely no sense. I've had a home warranty for years now. They've installed a new furnace, a dishwasher and a water heater BUT it has never been an easy or quick process. I did not pick to work with Clean Air Act, they were the low bid service assigned by our home warranty company. I now see why they must take those types of contracts. They are a terrible company to work with. They told us our account was all set and that they would order our complete system. Was told it would take 2 weeks, I waited 3 weeks then called. They never ordered our system and was then told we would be over 2 months out. They didn't update the warranty company and now I have to go through the process over. Can't say enough about what a Terrible terrible company Clean Air Act is. Jayson came later in the week, was professional, fast, and educated! He had our machine fixed in about 30 minutes and educated us on our furnace model and our air duct system. I booked an appointment with these people to get my heating system looked at and a dehumidifier installed in my basement. I was given an appointment window from between 8:30 and 9:30 in the morning. I cleared my schedule and waited around all morning for them to come, they never showed up. I called them multiple times and just got an automated message saying that they return calls within a three hour window. Well, I left multiple messages with them and days later have still not gotten a call back. This company has no respect for your time and are completely unprofessional. Absolutely horrible experience. Clean Air is a greedy and predatory company. My home warranty service referred Clean Air for me. It took several attempts to get a hold of the company. When finally reached, they did not have service appointments available before a heat wave was to hit unless I was willing to pay several hundred dollars extra for an 'emergency' appointment. Much to the chagrin of the scheduler, I declined the emergency appointment but took one for mid week the following week. When there was no one there to fix the A/C at the scheduled time, I attempted to contact Clean Air to no avail. I got a hold of my warranty company who informed me Clean Air decided to not show up at the time scheduled because they could make more money charging for 'emergency' appointments and since I wasn't willing to shell out extra money, they decided to just not show. Buyer beware: Clean Air Act HVAC is a company that will either leave you without service or will up charge you. read more

I am very very unhappy with this company. I recently purchased a home and along with that purchased a 1 year home warranty. The warranty included having my furnace maintenanced twice a year, but I had to use one of the warranty company's approved vendors. I contacted my home warranty case manager to book the spring furnace tune up and that is where I first engaged The Clean Air Act. My home warranty case manager sent a notification to the company to contact me for the tune up and told me to let her know if I didn't hear back. Well, I never heard back. I tried calling the Clean Air Act twice with no response and then emailed the case manager asking if I could get a different vendor as I wasn't being contacted. Then, the company finally called. I spoke with one of the men there and he said that the office manager (I think her name is Tina or Tiffany) would call me to schedule the appointment (not sure why he couldn't just book it right there). The office manager did call a few days later and we got the appointment on the books. During the conversation I asked if we could schedule an air duct cleaning for the same day as the furnace tune up as we had just finished a large remodel and the ducts are full of construction debris. She said no problem and that it would be $450 on top of the furnace tune up fee. I said no problem and scheduled it. When the day rolled around for the furnace tune up and duct cleaning it turned out that the office manager didn't schedule the appointment correctly and had put a dryer vent cleaning down instead of an air duct cleaning. The HVAC guy who tuned my furnace was very kind and apologetic, but that meant we had to move into our new home with the vents still full of junk. I called the office to reschedule the duct cleaning and the earliest they could do was 2-3 weeks out, so I booked it again. I received a phone call from the office manager this morning saying that with the hot weather we've had lately they've received a lot of emergency calls over the weekend on people's AC units and that they are behind. She said that the air duct cleaning for my home (scheduled for tomorrow morning) takes two people and half a day and she wanted to know if I could reschedule. I said that depends on when we would be rescheduling for as they've already made us reschedule our last appointment. She said the next earliest appointment open was next Monday, one week from today. I said no. I am not rescheduling as my family and I have been breathing construction debris for weeks now and we can't wait one more week. She then told me that she hadn't really been asking me if it was okay or not and that they had to push the appointment as there are elderly people and babies without AC right now... I said that I needed to think about it and talk with other HVAC companies as I have 3 children living in a home breathing construction debris. She said that that was fine and then hung up on me. I ended up calling a different company and booking with them. I call The Clean Air Act back to let them know and ended up getting their voicemail. I left them a message letting them know that I had chosen to go with another company and to please remove my appointment from their books. I have yet to hear anything from them in return. Seriously, go somewhere else. Do not use these people unless you're okay waiting months for service. Also, to try to guilt me into changing my appointment by saying that there are elderly people and babies with no AC is just petty. How about my babies living in a home breathing in all of the debris in my air ducts? read more

I would give negative stars if possible. The technician came out to fix ac. Said was filter so I replaced. It was not the issue. I called my warranty company to request them to come back to fix. The technician said he reused to come back out due to health and safety issues. This is a flat out lie! My kids and i cleaned everywhere a few days before cause we were so excited to get our ac fixed as it had been 80 degree weather that week. If he felt that in danger why did he continue working, had an apprentice with him that looked 12 and was informative on how to maintain my ac unit. He did this so he wouldnt have to come back out. Now my warranty company wants me to get a diagnostic from another company in order to get them to pay for it. Since my ac had been out for a.month at this point I was not going to deal with all the bs so I called Luxury Homes. They are awesome! The tech came out the next day and fixed the problem, a sticky switch. Clean Air Act is a joke and technician Jake (not sure if correct) is a balls out liar! Don't deal with this company. There are so many out there. Especially if your going thru ur warranty company. All they care about is getting paid and not fixing the issue.
