Pints of Guiness, an Irish Coffee, a few pot pies. Nice quiet Sunday. Bartender was attentive and helpful. Found a solution so we could transport cold pot pies to eat at home.

Casual bar to catch up with friends. We got a table but no one actually comes to your table to get your drink order. We split two bottles of wine for four and had to get the glasses and bottles ourselves. Decent prices. We did ask for a dry white wine and it was definitely not dry.

I normally avoid Irish pubs on St.Patricks like the plague. There's something about the raging, drunk, green in every way college kids that makes my skin creepy crawly. Iona's is an Scottish bar in an old candy shop. I instantly felt relieved, relaxed and comforted by the older, tipsy crowd. Nobody was pushing. There was three bartenders working and one tattooed quiet guy took my order for a Guiness shortly after I reached the bar. I heard beautiful Irish music playing and then I noticed it was coming from inside the bar. Wow! A smallish bag pipe, guitar and two fiddles were playing the best music right in this tiny spot. The Guiness was pricey but it is also a 20oz pour. No shamrock but I was alright with that. I loved the front window booths. And they were playing some old black and white movie. I listened to the music when I noticed people kept popping in and out. Do my eyes deceive me!? I walked through the back door and one of the best patios in Williamsburg appeared. Gorgeous! This patio is huge and has little pockets for group sizes and even has a ping pong table. I get weak in the knees for Ping Pong..move over Forrest Gump! I will be returning for grub, music, ping pong, sunshine and cold large brews! Iona I'm so happy we finally got to meet!

So last weekend I was in the area and was wondering if they were still around and to my surprise they were still open in the same location that I remembered. So I decided to give them a try again after almost 15+ yrs and it was just like I remembered, the food was phenomenal and the beer was amazing! Definitely give them a shot if you're in the area, I'm very happy they're still around because I'll be going there more frequently.

We rolled in at 1pm on a Saturday without a reservation, but the hostess was accommodating and ushered us to the back patio. Seems to get busy fast when the weather is nice (20 minutes after being seated the patio seating was full, so definitely book ahead if you can.) If you're a fan of good drafts (didn't try any food) and soaking up the sun, this is your spot. The beer list is as extensive as you'd expect, and the atmosphere was buzzing, everyone seemed happy to be there. A perfect neighborhood find.

Upon arriving, I was immediately greeted by the manager and other staff to make sure I was all settled for my party, which I really appreciated. This space has a partnership with a pizza place up the street to order food but also provides flexibility to bring in your own food which a lot of places do not allow. They also allowed me to bring balloons and cake which many places also don't allow. I had around 40 people and there was plenty of space to sit down or stand. It wasn't too loud so I was able to have a conversation with friends while also enjoying the music. The music was great and we even stayed afterwards to enjoy the DJ and the vibes were still strong. If you're looking for a private space, this is the perfect spot for your party! My friends are still talking about how cool this space was and were very impressed!

It…read morewas founded by the Overthrow Hospitality group, which is run by restaurateur Ravi DeRossi. After opening a number of successful bars in New York City, including Death & Company and Cienfuegos, DeRossi decided to open a new bar with a focus on rare, new, and unusual craft beer offerings. Originally opening in the St. Marks section of the East Village, Proletariat quickly earned a reputation for being one of the best craft beer bars in NYC. In June 2022, Proletariat moved to a new, larger space just two blocks away on East 7th Street. In addition to the excellent beer selection, the new location also features a kitchen that offers an array of plant-based dining options. I recently visited Proletariat while I was in the Village to see a concert. I arrived a few hours before the show so I could grab some beers and bites beforehand. Proletariat has been on my NYC craft beer bucket list for a while; they have an excellent reputation. There were maybe four other customers there when I arrived; I felt like I was entering a secret craft beer club. I really liked the wolf featured on the bar's logo. It was clearly a reference to the Latin botanical term for hops: "humulus lupulus", which roughly translates as "the little wolf that comes from the Earth". There were 20 impressive beers on draught during my visit. I decided to order a pour of The Drowned Lands Brewery's "Winnow" (Festbier). It was an excellent example of the style: light and malty. Afterwards, I went with a pour of Sante Adairius Rustic Ales' "The Sky and the Sea" (Blueberry Saison). This was a fantastic beer: nice and tart with delicious notes of blueberries. If you're looking for some great craft beer bars in NYC then add Proletariat to your list!
