We had the vegan stew, tofu(jerk,curry,brown stew), cabbage, rice & peas, and plantains, and every bite was seasoned with that rich, authentic island flavor. The stew was hearty and comforting, the cabbage had that perfect island-style sauté, and the plantains were fried just right -- crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. It's not easy finding Caribbean spots that truly cater to vegans, but Ionie's understood the assignment. You can taste the love and tradition in every dish, and the hospitality was just as warm as the food. If you're looking for real flavor without the meat, this spot is a must in Snellville. My family and I were in town visiting and was referred to this restaurants for some great Jamaican food. We were graded right away and was able to place that order at the counter you could take it to go or dine in and the dining area is large, so we decided to dine in to enjoy our food while it's hot. The food portions were nicely served beautiful presentation. Our only suggestion is the jerk chicken wasn't true, jerk chicken. It wasn't seared on the grill and it was missing the seasonings. Also, our spinach and or veggie pie was not seasoned. Our cocoa bread was delicious our peas and rice were good and oxtails.. The oxtail meal was $30 and our jerk chicken meals were $18 I believe. read more

Nice family restaurant, great customer service, but the flavors fell flat as far as my entree was concerned. While visiting my BFF in GA, we decided to stop and pick up some lunch. My bff went to another restaurant in the strip mall while I decided to try this Jamaican restaurant. Walking into the restaurant it was very calming. No music was playing just the sounds of orders being placed and prepared. I was immediately helped possibly because of the cafeteria style ordering. The staff were very friendly. I ordered a small lunch portion of the curry chicken. It came with my choice of rice. I chose peas and rice and cabbage. I also ordered a beef patty. The beef patty I devoured in the car. As to y'all that read my reviews, yall know I love a good flaky, meat filled snack and it wasn't going to make it home. This was nothing extraordinary from your regular Jamaican beef patty but it was good. The pineapple ginger juice complimented the beef patty perfectly for my taste buds. The spicy from the ginger and sweetness from the pineapple paired well with creamy, spicy, buttery, flakiness of the beef patty! I enjoy this snack way too much! Wished I would've ordered 2. Now, the curry chicken, had no flavor whatsoever or seasoning. I was so disappointed. I love Jamaican food but ain't it! I wanted so much to enjoy this but I couldn't. I ate enough of it to get satisfied and put the rest in the fridge. If my great aunt's assistant living faculty was to sponsor a Jamaican night in the dining hall, this would be served! I'm so happy I didn't get the $29 oxtails. Just add some more curry powder, garlic, salt and pepper, and coconut milk, simmer a little longer and we are in business. read more

I like the beef patties here, but overall they aren't always freshly baked. The owner had an attitude the last time I came here so I've been pretty slow on coming back. I asked for a sample of the soup and she denied me because the cups cost 25 cents were her exact words. That being said, I wanted some Caribbean food and I was in the neighborhood so I decided to give it a try. I had the curry goat with rice and peas and some veggies. The goat was tender but with the style of how the food is served the food just didn't seem fresh. It was a little colder than I would like but the flavors were ok. Not the worst I've had not the best either. I paid $9.50 for a small food, the prices range I believe an oxtail food is $18. The menu is large but not sure I would try more from here. All in all the food was ok, the experience was ok. I'd like more for my money however. read more

I recently had the opportunity to try this Jamaican restaurant after my friend spoke highly about them a few times. It's located in a small strip mall with a patio and indoor seating. The food service is cafeteria-style. I decided to try the brown stew chicken since you can seldom go wrong with that. I paired it with rice and peas, and cabbage. When the server asked if I wanted gravy on the rice, my immediate answer was yes. Who would say no? I also tried the jerk macaroni and cheese. Now to the taste test. The mac and cheese earned a 4-star rating. Cheesy, spicy woty nice pieces of chicken. I will certainly order this again. The brown stew chicken was favorable, but the chicken pieces were boney, and I kept having to spit out tiny pieces. I think they'd do better just giving you a two-piece instead of chopping it into smaller pieces. read more

I'm so disappointed in this business! I purchased 45 bucks of food on yesterday! Not to mentioned that I patronized this business all the time! The food on yesterday was extremely salty and I couldn't eat any of it! I called to speak with the business and the young lady who answered was very nice. But the owner the older lady refused to exchange the food, offer a credit or provide a refund. I was ok with exchanging the food, because I come here all the time. It's was astonishing to me to be treated this way and how this business flat out refused to right this wrong. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE ethics! But that's the problem with some businesses, they only care about the quick dollar and not the longevity. I run a business and would never treat my clients this way. I advised the young lady of how much appreciated her trying, but I will NEVER patronize this business again! Was there today with my wife for the first time. We came across them while searching for somewhere to sit for a meal. They were out of what we wanted and had to compromise. After receiving our food and was about to eat we were told that we can't eat from the containers that they served us the food in, that we have to use plates. Well, please give us some plates. No, dining closed at six (was now just after six after waiting in line for ever). So we had to pack up our food an leave. Needless to say that they will never see us again....would hate to inconvenience them by having to put up with our presence in their establishment. read more

I really try hard to support this business but they definitely make it very difficult. The food is good but they are routinely out of items. Today I stopped in and they were out of rice and plantains. I was told they were cooking rice. After waiting 10 minutes I was told another 6-8 minutes. The service is subpar at best. The owner should really make it a priority to make some changes. read more

I went for the Jerk festival and waited on line that was lawd long to finally get up to the beginning of the line and have the cook/chef tell me that I couldn't have plantain with my meal that is ridiculous and that's disrespectful because everybody knows jerk chicken you always have what plantain what is wrong with them but they don't have to worry about me. So disappointed!! Just spent $13.50 for a large meal for my Granddaughter and they put a small meal in the large container . This could be just the server because she had to redo the meal because she doused the rice with too much gravy after we tried to tell her not to.. I wish I could give them 0 stars. Spent over $100 and the only edible thing was the plantains. Oxtails are too expensive for them to be under seasoned and tough. My first time eating at Ionies Island Kitchen, which is a jamaican resturant with mouthwatering jamaican food listed on their menu. I arrived at the resturant 6:45pm on thursday august 30, 2023 before i could even order my food i was geeted with attitude. I ordered 1 curry goat- small,1 jerk chicken mac & cheese and 1 bottle d&g soda with a total cost of $22.89. The food was horrible. Jerk chicken mac & cheese fell flat on it face, i dont know what that was about, FAIL. curry goat was not cook well. rice and peas was just tired. who ever the cook is i dont want to eat from you again. Was craving Jamaican food after surgery today. Stopped in and asked for curry shrimp. It's a made to order dish. They let me know it would be 15min, that was fine. The lady was kind and even asked how spicy I'd like it. Food was delicious, the people were kind. Maybe some people don't understand that Jamaican culture is not usually smiling and overly catering but I felt well taken care of and she was very polite. read more
