So the plantains were the only thing I was a little disappointed with, they were a little too green. Would have liked them a little riper and sweeter. Wonderfully prepared, Clean Clean Clean. Was craving Jamaican food after surgery today. Stopped in and asked for curry shrimp. It's a made to order dish. They let me know it would be 15min, that was fine. Expect to be in line half an hour whenever you go to this place. Workers are extremely slow, borderline rude, and they are constantly running out of food. I ordered a beef patty along with two jerk chicken plates. I had to wait on the chicken and the customer behind me gets my patty. When I finally pay they're now out. I usually give all Caribbean places a try. They were pretty crowded when we walked in. The line went pretty quick considering the kind of food we are getting and some of it has to come from the kitchen. We went on a Friday and they don't serve wings on Fridays which was a bummer. I tried the pineapple spice cake (it was good), better than I expected. We had jerk chicken, rice and cabbage. They also ran out of plantains, I asked if I could substitute for a chicken patty and she said no. All in all it was good & I will return in the future. The flavor of the food is inconsistent and the service staff is rude. I am under the impression that the service staff is related to the owner, so don't look for any changes or improvement in attitude. The owner is on-site and chooses not to correct the behavior of her employees. I have eaten here many times before, you never know what the quality of the food is going to be. My daughter and I went there for breakfast and I was amazed the mackerel rundown was slamming. I enjoyed every bite of it. The experience was nice, warm and friendly. I would be definitely bringing back my family and Friends there for special occasions, and when we wanted a good Jamaican taste of the home cooking. I enjoy this restaurant and the food is fantastic. Seriously, this place be Jammin with some of the absolute BEST Island cuisine I have had; Curried Goat, Jerk Pork, Curry Chicken, and much more is served up fresh and hot! Sides are great as well and I'm especially taken with their Red Beans and Rice -- simply stellar! Their prices are outstanding for the quality and quantity of food served so plan on some extra for next days meal; they offer two sizes of portions -- lunch (smaller) or dinner (larger) but the board lists the dinner prices only; they will inform you of the differing size choice before you order. Service is cafe style order at the counter and brought to your table if eating in; your meal will be served on nice dinnerware with silverware; takeout in the usual Styrofoam container with plastic-ware. They just expanded their eat in dining area to double their prior size so there should be no more problem with finding a table. An outside dining patio is open as well. Word-of-warning though, lines can back up during peak hours but moves along fairly well as the staff does their best to fill orders while maintaining the quality of the foods served. Drinks are grab a can or bottle from the refrigerated case near the counter and consists of the usual domestic sodas, fruit punch/sport drinks, bottled water, and a wide assortment of Island specific non-alcoholic beverage; nice glassware with Ice is provided for eat in. Desserts are assorted flavor In-house made Island style Bundt cakes. I'm of Caribbean decent and love to support other black businesses as much as possible. I try with Ionie's because I love their food but they continue to frustrate me. I've had one good experience in September of 2022 when ordering catered food for my mother's 70th but they continue to disappoint me with their customer service. I always want to have a nice dinner on Fridays but cringe with the idea of going in to order. I've had to Uber eats to avoid dealing with the customer service but sometimes the orders have been messed up. Today, I called in my order and was greeted by an Anne (?) who was very annoyed as if I was doing something wrong with trying to support them. She let out a very noticeable sigghhhh followed by "what you want". I paused because I couldn't believe how incredibly rude she was. I tried not to match her energy and wanted to enjoy the rest of my night! She then placed me on hold and I politely just hung up.
