A no small chat kind of doctor. He is too busy looking at your eyes and catching things that shouldn't be. When I first met him, and he told me what my RA was doing to my eyes, you don't get better than that sympathetic wise. He had me in with a specialist within the blink of an eye. His office wasted zero time. scam. paid for an exam out of pocket for over twice the price of everywhere else. their "eye exam" includes several unnecessary things, such as dilation, which they listed in the price of the signs posted all over the office. when i opted out of this, the price didn't go down. never again read more

I've been to see him twice for my annual eye exam. Both times he did just what he was supposed to do. He did my eye exam which is what I paid him to do. I don't understand the negative things said about him. It's simple folks. I ask what my co-pay is when signing and if it's not what I expect then I ask them to explain. It's insane that the lady at the front desk is still there. I left. She was so rude to customers there that I wanted nothing to do with that place. The best eye exam i have had in the past 10 years, i have struggled to get glasses that i can see all distances well. I wear trifocals and the prescription from Dr. Ira work so well i can sew and drive with 20/20 corrected vision. As i said, past 10 years struggled to get a great exam. read more

Worst experience. Place is not well kept, looks shoddy. as others have pointed out the bill is $40 more than you expect, when I asked about it the cranky front office/tech told me it was for 'extra' scans. I told her I did not know I was getting anything extra she told me that it's posted on the signage on her cluttered desk. whatever, never going back. The doctor does not explain what he is doing or even talk to you about what he is finding during the exam and at the end kept asking if I want contacts or glasses, I told him no, I am just wanting an exam to make sure my eyes are OK (as I stated on the forms) only then did he say "your eyes are healthy". the whole place smelled weird and bad, especially the exam room. Because of this negative experience I do not trust anything there. I will go somewhere else to get an eye exam, this was a waste and I feel like I've been robbed with unnecessary extra tests that were neither asked for or explained to me As to why I might need them. BEWARE, he will over charge you by putting drops in your eyes to dilate them and not tell you he charges $32.00 for it. I have had 20+ exams in my life and no doctor has ever dilated them for a simple eye exam for glasses. My insurance has a $10 copay, he billed us $42.00 and stated the eye drops were not included. Even with an appointment, I had to wait. That place is so small that all the other patients could hear the receptionist asking me all different questions so they did hear my answers too. They're sure don't follow HIPPAA. It took them over 2 weeks to get my contacts but then, they ordered a trial which I have no idea why because they were the same strength as last year according to their test. So when I got them, they gave me a prescription to take "anywhere" to have it filled. Again, the receptionist hollered at me from the back being busy with other patient when I went in, me not knowing she was talking to me. Not very professional at all. I'm going back to First Eye Care next year. Dr. Herman said that my vision was fine, no cataract. Well, last year, the other place said that I was starting cataract. Because of change of insurance, I came to this place. Not again. And by the way, people next door at Vision Works, are not better either. read more

WORST DR EVER!!! I moved to weatherford recently, and explained i needed a dr that was good due to my injury in my eye from years ago i have basically a scarred section that's extremely delicate. I go in with my mom and my daughter- both of us had appointments. Receptionist was extremely rude to my two year old and the dr stuck all of us in one room like we were one appointment. He confused my 63 year old mothers chart for mine I'm 29, and used chemicals to dilate my eyes even after i tried to explain again (just like on my chart) i shouldn't have it done. He chemically burned my eye.. causing permanent damage then handed me a prescription. Two weeks later my eye finally started to heal and i tried out my new contacts he argued i needed for astigmatism. A month later i still couldn't see. I went in and this man YELLED AT ME infront of my kids saying "he never makes mistakes." He refuses to admit he not only ruined my vision on one side but he also pushed us through like cattle causing the mixup in charts. NEVER EVER GET NEAR THIS MAN. Ever. I have picked up an attorney and i am going for his license. I no longer can wear contacts, and I'm almost blind in my right eye. SHOULD HAVE CHECKED REVIEWS!! Don't do it! My prescription is now correct and he wasn't only just way off; I'm nowhere near astigmatism and I'll never see correctly in my right eye again. read more

I would rate Dr.Herman and his assistant a 5. With that being said, I would give the front desk woman a -5 based on attitude, lack of customer service skills, and downright rude behavior. I took my daughter for exam and my total was 70.00 I ran my card and it cleared (I know this because I immediately get a notification when my account balance changes) she told me it didn't go through and that I would have to reswipe my debit card. I pointed out that it worked first time and she still insisted I swipe again, I did so thinking she would happily reverse the first charge. Nope. I paid 140:00 and she then was extremely rude to my daughter telling her I'd have to wait 7-10 for refund. I then sent my husband to pick up daughters glasses next door yesterday and being that it had been 7 full days and no refund I asked him to stop in and inquire. She again was extremely rude and told him that she already told us that it would take 7-10 days. My husband was going to get his eyes checked while he was there, but after the rude way he was treated, decided to go elsewhere. I hope that Dr. Herman is made aware of the unprofessional behavior being displayed at his front desk, because until the situation is addressed and handled I won't b going back read more

Beware there's a reason he doesn't take appt ' walk ins only. Diagnosed me with cataracts after over billing my insurance then dilated my eyes and I had to drive home that way. Got a second opinion and it was eye strain. Do your research and go to a reputable eye dr. read more

We have gone to this place several times. This was the 2 major problem with them today. The first time, they gave my daughter both glasses and contacts exam, even though we only asked for the one. Charged us an extra $69 for that. Today, my other daughter went in to the office and I told her, make sure that you have them only do the contact exam, so that the co pay would be all she has to pay. She got there, confirmed that it was a $10 copay and then got the exam. What do you know, they slapped a $69 contact fitting charge on her. The lady said that our insurance didn't cover that, and that they have signs posted everywhere about this. I asked where the signs were, and she said everywhere. I had my daughter take pictures of all of the signs, and send them to me. They was not one sign about a lens fitting charge. I would highly recommend, find somewhere else to go. I have always found Dr. Herman congenial and informative. He found my glaucoma on a visit and referred me to the appropriate doctor for followup. As a retired nurse and the wife of an MD, I appreciate more than some folks the need for accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. I don't care if someone has the personality of a rock, as long as I get good care. Dr. Herman provides the best...and, he cares. read more
