Come here last night to eat with some friends. They insisted it was really good. Unfortunately I didn't have my phone on me to snap some shots of our food but let me say this...there were not wrong by any means. This place is a very good sushi spot, everything tasted fresh and flavorful. I don't even know what all the rolls were that we got because they weren't on the menu, I will have to come back and get those names and snap some shots because this is well worth a try. Number ONE sushi spot in HB. Everything is fantastic. Fresh qualitY and unique flavors. In terms of nigiri the TUNA SPECIAL with their house sauce and avocado is delicious ( I am also not usually a tuna person but this is an exception). The salmon was also very fresh can't go wrong always a must for me. For rolls the off menu HUNTINGTON BEACH ROLL is a must and the GHOST ROLL was also delicious. I have never had such a great balance of fresh fish light rice and sauce which I usually prefer not to have but at this place it's worth getting everything as it comes no questions asked. Everything is so tasteful intentional and balanced. Also the GREEN TEA is thicker than most and washes down the meal perfectly with unlimited refills. What makes this place truly special are the quality cuts of fish and their unique sauces that I've never had with any other sushi restaurant. My boyfriend and I love this place! Please expect a wait as the area is small and cozy. We waited for an hour to an hour and a half when we got there around 5:10pm. We ordered the spicy edamame, two orders of the mixed sashimi, an order of the tuna special, two orders of the bluefin tuna, a fatboy roll, and a huntington beach roll. We are big sashimi people so this definitely hit the spot. The spicy edamame was a great appetizer - it wasn't too spicy or salty. The Fatboy roll had a citrus hit which my boyfriend liked. I preferred the HB roll. Everything was super fresh and yummy! I'm glad to have a great sushi place nearby. The service was great and attentive as well. Great sushi gem in Huntington Beach! Luckily I went with a friend that knew their best rolls, because I almost got the whole menu!!! I went on a Monday night and heard it can get very packed every day and even more on weekends. So you gotta get there early to get a table. Tuna siding was soft and not chewy. The HB Roll was amazingggg! A little on the spicier side. All these rolls are wrapped in soy paper (but can ask for seaweed instead) and the truly melt in your mouth. The service is what really made this visit. The staff were quick and checked in often, which was especially helpful after one of my guests accidentally ordered a salad with shellfish despite his allergy. After we fixed the order, the staff came back to our table to warn us that another roll we had ordered had shellfish. (We should have told them about the allergy-- this was entirely our fault). Overall, the staff were on top of things and above and beyond helpful. They kept checking in to make sure everything was alright. The sushi is the only reason I'm giving 4 starts instead of 5. I had the spider hand roll, one of my guests had the dragon roll, and the other had the salmon hibachi. All were good, but there is definitely better sushi out there. To begin with the Food is amazing and I would recommend to anyone. The reason I gave it 2 stars was the service. My friend and I order 1 roll and a dinner plate. Very simple. My plate came out quickly, but after 40 minutes we realized people who were seated after us received their food, while my friend still didn't receive their 1 roll. In fact the couple next to us received 6 rolls after several orders. They clearly forgot our 1 roll. It happens. After we inquired about it, they said his roll was next after they cleared our table of the my plate. I was disappointed when they didn't apologize for the delay or offer anything while we waited. I'm a bit torn about this place. I think the portions could be bigger for the price of the rolls. We got the sashimi platter, chirashi, seared tuna, and irassae roll. The irassae roll was ok, not the most inventive, but it was still good. I was disappointed with the chirashi rice, it was pretty mushy for sushi rice. The seared tuna was decent but it was verrry lightly seared. Not what you'd typically see a sear as. Note that a lot of people post about the ghost roll, but that's off menu. I wanted to order it but it wasn't on the menu so we assumed they no longer served it didn't get it, and then found out later they serve it but part of a secret menu. Would I come back again? Will never come back the staff is super rude. Called ahead to ask what time they stop seating and they said 8:30. Made the drive there all the way from Irvine to try this spot for the first time. We just happened to get there at 8:32 and they would not seat us. The young girl who we were talking to seemed kinda clueless going back and forth asking a manager and they couldn't even come talk to us themselves. Oh my gosh, this place is incredible!! A lot of sushi spots have great reviews, but this one is TOP TIER! I just came for lunch and tried a few things. Shrimp & Veggie Tempura - yummy but pretty standard. Salmon & Tuna Special - delish. The rolls, however, were game changing. The Summer Roll & Next Time Roll were some of the best rolls I have EVER tried! They are unique, full of quality fish, and just bursting with flavor. Even the Baked Scallop Roll (which I don't usually go for) was delicious. The interior is small so I imagine it gets pretty packed. We came on a weekday lunch and it stayed full the entire time (they have set hours for lunch and then reopen again for dinner). Service was also really great here - sometimes this can be a hit or miss at sushi restaurants but everyone was friendly and attentive! Truly a great experience.
