Came in not expecting much and ended up staying way longer than planned. Sushi on Fire gets the balance right: solid quality fish without the whole overpriced, overhyped vibe you get at a lot of places around here. The rolls are actually well put together (not falling apart halfway through), and the fish tastes fresh, not masked by a bunch of sauces. Tried a mix of specialty rolls and some basics, and nothing felt like a miss. Service was quick but not rushed, which I appreciate. It does get busy, but that's kind of the point--you can tell people actually come back here. Not trying to be something it's not, just consistently good sushi at a fair price. I'll probably be back. Oh and solid ass location too. Right smack in DT HB

We were driving down PCH and spending a day viewing the beach. We were craving sushi and decided to try this place on Huntington Beach because they were open later and we were struggling finding good open later in the beach areas. ( we are from Vegas and used to places staying open later.) I do recall the names of any of the rolls we ordered but ALL the sushi we ordered was amazing and we for sure would come back again.

01/17/26 Saturday Came around 5 PM with a party of 7 and were seated immediately. We just wanted a light meal since it was early. Around 30 minutes after we arrived, all the seats filled up. Not surprised since this is situated in a lively street with lots of foot traffic. Pros: -seafood was fresh -accommodated warm water request -clean -servers are on top of things What could be improved on: -Food took a while to come out. -rice in the chirashi bowl was a little too sour. -Parking at the nearby structure is free if you stay under 90 minutes.

Hibachi Filet Mignon was excellent. High quality. Cooked perfectly. Very flavorful. It comes with wonderful grilled vegetables, and a nice smokey teriyaki sauce on the side.

Dined in with a group of 7 people on 1/17/26 around 5 PM. Service: It was quick when they seated us. The servers were always quick to refill our drinks or help us. Our only drawback was the food took a long time to arrive. Not sure if it was too busy, but they had a good amount of sushi chefs in the back. Parking: you can park at a garage for 90 minutes free nearby Food: 3/5, I ordered the Chirashi bowl. The fish was fresh, but the rice had a sour taste to it. Not the best sushi rice. Overall, it was an average sushi experience. Nothing spectacular.

Sushi was NOT on fire, 1 star....just kidding! Came on a Saturday night and the wait for walk-ins was only like 15 minutes. Service was friendly and attentive. Quality of the sushi was top notch. Ingredients were fresh and the rolls were assembled well. Tons of variety on the menu so there really is something for everybody. The vibe inside was nothing to write home about, rather plain but that's not why we're here so won't knock them for it. All in all, great place to satisfy that sushi fix if you have a hankering. Definitely check them out if you're in the area!

We stopped in here after being at the beach. We had a party of 5 and were seated immediately. The staff was friendly and nice. The food did take a while to come out, however, it was worth the wait. Everything was so fresh and flavorful. The restaurant was nice and clean. We had no issues. The kids enjoyed their meals and had a great time. Definitely coming again!

Was running the What So Not popup at Sandbar on Main so needed a quick spot for dinner. Staff was super chill and accommodated me. Girl on the Beach: fyyeeeeee Snow White: pretty damn good but not better than my other roll Service: 10/10 Honestly enjoyed sitting by myself at the bar. Very zen and much needed for the calm before the storm (What So Not show). They had some Asian sushi artisans there. Always a good sign. Would return? Yes

Good sushi spot! They had a ton of variety of different rolls and non sushi options as well. The service was good as well! My hand roll came out very fast :)

Out on Main Street, you have an option of sitting outside to watch as people pass by or inside (garage style door). Quick service despite being on a busy part of downtown. I was able to ask for gluten free options (stripping the sauces and asking for tamari on the side). Food came out fresh and fast! Would totally recommend Salmons kiss!

We stopped by Sushi On Fire in Huntington Beach for lunch and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. The sushi was incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and some of the best rolls we've had in a long time. We ordered several different items including a Jalapeño Roll, a Seared Albacore Roll, Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, and a tuna sashimi style plate, and everything was fantastic. The flavors were incredible and you can tell they really know what they're doing with their sauces and preparation. Every roll had its own unique taste and was perfectly balanced. The wait staff was outstanding friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. One of the coolest parts is that their patio is dog-friendly, so we were able to bring our Pomeranian with us to lunch, which made the day even more enjoyable. Great sushi, great service, great atmosphere. If you're in Huntington Beach and looking for excellent sushi, Sushi On Fire is definitely worth a visit. We'll absolutely be coming back.

Appetizer: * Seasoned Calamari - it was good, and my first time trying it with honey. Definitely an interesting touch. Rolls: * Refreshing Roll - made with three different kinds of fish. The mixture was great, and the sauces blended together nicely. * Animal Roll - spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, and avocado topped with seared albacore, fresh garlic, creamy sauce, slices of jalapeño, and fried onion. This one's my favorite so far - packed with flavor and texture. The vibe is chill, and it's only a short walk from the beach. Service was quick, though it might have helped that we came at the perfect time (Monday afternoon).

Came thru for a crab roll and the place was busy but ran efficiently. Food tasted great and came out in a timely manner. Server was nice and took care of us.

They do this near the end of the month on Mondays. Unfortunately, this is their 3rd to last event as they're going to be doing some restructuring. The staff was very nice and accommodating. Drinks were flowing and the sashimi was non-stop. Nigiri and handrolls were also delicious and I ate until I was close to puking. It was super cool to be able to cut into the fresh fish from Mexico. It's definitely tougher than it looks. I always thought it would be easy to cut like butter, but definitely takes a lot of strength and skill. There were other tasty tuna dishes like the miso soup, salad and crispy tuna steak. I recommend sitting at the bar so you can see Chef Yamasaki cut the fish in the front row seats. It was cool to taste the varying levels of fatness of the fish. The super chutoro was practically butter. They also offered tuna to go at $50/lb. Definitely worth it. The venue is their regular restaurant but with more tables in the middle. A little loud but definitely a fun time. There were 3 birthdays too! We had ice cream mochi for dessert and there were strawberry cakes for the birthday girls. We averaged about $170 after tip and it was worth every penny.

The entire meal lasted 2.5 hours, and that was only because we ended it early and asked for the check. We ordered the Omakase Yamasaki for $69, and everything we received was amazing. The salad to start was great, and the fish was prepared perfectly. However, the pacing really took away from the experience. I'm not sure if they were understaffed, but the service was so slow that by the end we were exhausted and didn't even want to finish the meal. We also mentioned that my friend has a shellfish allergy, but a crab hand roll was still brought out. While it was very delicious, my friend couldn't eat it, and we chose to leave without a replacement because it would have taken another 20 minutes. The food was memorable, but the service and timing need improvement for the experience to match the quality of the food.

I have never met a server, a bartender, a cook that didnt go the extra mile for us! The owner herself is no different! They all are so fabulous! This past week we had Paul and his team of coworkers, Gabriel at the bar and I cant praise them enough! A really long, stressful month thus far resulted in needing a night out. A family member was finally back in town and we decided to meet at Matsu. While Amy was off, we were treated just as fabulously by Paul and team. Gabriel at the bar made excellent cocktails! Everything from our fresh nigiri to our teppan combo was delicious and fresh and nicely sized portions. I can go on and on, but if you want a darker, cool chill vibe, do the bar area. If you want teppan theatrics and fun, reserve the teppan. If you want a larger party restaurant atmosphere. They have that too! Its clean, its nice, its delicious!!! My favorite is the Lychee martini, my friends love the apple martinis, but I'll say, you can even just drink an iced water and you're still gonna love this place! Give it a try, you won't regret it!
