One of my new favorite Japanese restaurants when visiting Huntington Beach! Dinner was reasonably priced and very filling! I ordered the Pork Katsu dinner and I was so surprised by how much katsu they served! The rice was perfectly cooked and enhanced with each bite of the pork. The pork was evenly cooked and incredible crispy. The salad was a nice refresher to balance the heartiness of the meal. Our server checked on us often, getting our food out ASAP! Read the poor reviews and not come here because they're all true! Mediocre food and small portions at high prices. You are not getting a good deal here. Small restaurant and it wasn't a busy Tuesday night. Service was very lacking. My sister asked for a straw for herself and her husband and the waitress was hesitant and annoyed at their request. She also didn't fill our waters or checked on us. Bringing us food does not equate to good service. Having worked as a server previously and know how to give good service, I tipped based on service given. After we left, I was determined never to return here with my family and never think about this experience again. When we were already outside the restaurant, the owner chased after us and complained about the tip we left. I told him the service was lacking and we would never return. Rather than an apology, he argued to get more money. We were treated as if we dined and dashed. We've never had this happen to us anywhere. No class. So rude. It's beyond me how a restaurant like this exists. I keep thinking about the great MakiZushi in Tustin that closed. Oh, how I miss that restaurant. read more

A wonderful authentic Japanese restaurant! They have to-go options and also space to sit down and eat as a family. And the staff is so respectful! Make sure you try the stinky roll. If you're a garlic lover, you will not be disappointed, the albacore melts in your mouth, it's perfect. The owner of this place is completely unprofessional. He's made a habit of barging into the yoga studio next door to scream about noise, even when his restaurant isn't open. Most recently, he verbally attacked a female staff member who was alone inside. That's not just unprofessional, it's aggressive and unacceptable. We were excited to try Three Monkey since it's in our neighborhood, but we were really disappointed. On Friday, August 22, 2025, my fried chicken was overcooked, dark, and dry - it looked and tasted reheated. My husband got food poisoning from his salmon. The waitress wasn't helpful when I asked if the chicken was always served that way. We won't be back. I hope the restaurant fixes these problems. read more

He was talking while preparing the sushi and was spitting all over the food he was handling. The place is small, outdated, smells musty and does not follow many of the health regulations. Surfaces and cutting boards had leftover fish juices and then other food was prepared on them!! Trash was picked up off the floor with his bare hands and he never washed them before going back to preparing food! It was one of the worst sanitary situations i've had dining in a long time! My go-to nearby sushi restaurant. They never disappoint, have fair prices, fresh fish, good sake. They also have a sushi bar with 1 tv at the bar and 1 in the dining area. The service is always great and quick with a smile. It's fairly small but I've never had to wait for a table. read more

She took the food away and then ignored me. When I asked to order something else, she responded you should eat somewhere else. After reading some of the bad reviews I was nervous to try this place but I'm soooo glad I did! First of all the sushi seems very fresh. I got spicy tuna roll and salmon roll w/ miso soup. Decent little mom and pop restaurant in a discreet location in Huntington Beach. We've drove by this place several times and never knew it was there. My daughter who loves Japanese food decided to try it and approved of it. I decided to try it when Kappo was too crowded. They have all the basics, nothing crazy or too fancy, but good food. Didn't try the sushi, went with a combo plate to try different items. Tempura was good not great, chicken karaage was good, sashimi was fresh, but portions were small. Rice was alittle on the hard side, but overall everything was good and I'll go back for a no hassle, inexpensive Japanese dinner. Next time I'll try the sushi. read more
