Got a too good to go surprise bag $6.48, the food came hot and fresh so I was excited. However, I definitely expected more food for the value given that it's the "special" bag and compared to other too good to go value bags. The food itself is pretty average / good compared to all the Jamaican food I've had. Heard some people on google reviews had stomach issues with it so we'll find out! Service - fast and nice staff Ambiance - it was empty inside apart from people getting takeouts and a man drunk/out at the bar

This is a cute restaurant off if 610 and close to downtown. It has a nice bar and space to host a party. We went on a Sunday and tbe service and food were an A+. We ordered 2 lg oxtail plates and I love their seasoning and sauce. They have happy hour all day on Sunday and the rum punch was too good. This is my maybe third time going and i will def be back.

It's not even located on Bourbon Street, or even within 5 hours of it. False advertising? Bourbon Sizzler aka Island Sizzler aka Indian Sizzler is definitely a very popular Jamaican restaurant and it takes over a spot that has had so many other Sizzlers (such as Island Sizzler which was very similar and Indian Sizzler which was quite different). No matter what the Sizzler, it's always been a good place to eat and now is not an exception. Yes there are some dishes that aren't as good as others and yes they're not the cheapest considering the neighbourhood, but it's still a great place to come and get food.

Eat at your own risk lol. The food and service is inconsistent. I assume since they have changed the name the restaurant is under new management and so the experience is definitely different. The inside was very dim... no island music playing just some guy at the front taking your order while on his personal phone. The customer service wasn't bad but it also wasn't great. The restaurant was pretty dead when I arrived. I was able to place my order and get my food pretty fast. Upon opening my small curry plate, it was definitely the smallest portion of curry chicken I have ever received from this restaurant. I guess they are cutting back. My portion size should have been on the appetizer side. The favor was there, I could taste the authentic Jamaican food but it was just OK. I guess I want more from this place since it's one of the only places in the area that serves Jamaican food. I am not sure I will be back but then again I tell myself that all the time and 3 months later I am back... always slightly disappointed lol

I'm usually a Cool runnings Jamaican grill and bar fan and that's where I'll stick to ordering from now on. When my food was delivered I had one scoop of cabbage that was smashed into the plate, 2 small plantain, some goat curry and rice and peas. Half of the food was inedible. One of my plantain was extremely dry, the goat was rubbery and fatty with a lot of salt and mostly bones, the rice and peas was not good and I didn't even touch the cabbage. This "large plate" was $27. I get twice the amount for $20 at cool runnings and the food is always immaculate. Thank god door dash gave me my money back.

placed an order using the TGTG app; the food was delicious!! amazing portions for the price paid. the service was really really great and the ambiance was nice. i will be back in to try their lunch specials as well as their DAILY happy hour and it definitely looks like the bartender knows how to pour a good drink.

Not good. If you are looking for oxtails they seem to have good reviews. Never have chicken patties in 3 weeks i have requested. Orded small chicken curry. No spice. Barely any flavor. Asking for steam rice which is on menu. Not available again. Only cabbage n rice n peas. I don't like either. I had rum punch n d pending who is making it might be decent. Drink only

Overall, the Bourbon Sizzler's jerk chicken with rice and peas was satisfying, but I'd prefer more sauce on the side. Opted for takeout. In and out is my preferred choice for a quick meal, given the outside activity levels.

Jerk Chicken Plate: Jerk Chicken, Rice and Peas, Cabbage, 2 Fried Plantains

If I could give a 3.8 star rating I would and here's why: * The jerk chicken was great seasoned well and not under or overcooked but I didn't understand them not having jerk wings available since it is a Caribbean restaurant but the chicken was good so a win is a win on that. * Rice and peas were fine and not over/uncooked either but thankfully I ordered oxtail gravy which literally made it amazing! * Plantains were top tier! Love a good sweet savory plantain and that made the meal not overall not so great because for the next one. * Cabbage gave very much high blood pressure immediately. No exaggeration, it tasted as if they made the cabbage in saltwater literally. 0/10 for the cabbage without a doubt. * Price point was great for the amount of food received. * Delivery packaging could be much better (sticker, seal or even double knotting the bags for safety purposes).

    Beef Patty

So disappointed! I haven't ate here in a couple of months but I never would have expected the food to be so off. The oxtail were not seasoned the same, not tender & had a sweet taste to them. Not to mention the beef patty was soooooo greasy it needed a couple of napkins to allow it to drain more. I think the place has switched owners there is no way the same people are cooking.

So we made the drive here on a Saturday in the Texas heat to check it out. Pulling up here, it's got the island themes with the Jamaican flags, island memorabilia, and afro-beats music blaring from the inside; felt like we were visiting one of the Caribbean restaurants on the islands. We placed an order for the jerk chicken eggrolls, the jamaican beef pattie, a jerk chicken platter w/ rice & peas & curry veggies, and a brown-stewed chicken with steamed cabbage and mac & cheese. About 9-10 minutes later, they called us for our food and we dug in. Everything was absolutely bursting with flavors and island spices. The jerk chicken eggrolls, both entrees, and the cabbage & curried veggies sides are definite must-orders. The chicken in all of those dishes are super tender and melt in your mouth with the spices and sauce. The Jamaican pattie is pretty good although it's the same that I've had at other spots. The rice & peas is a pretty big portion and you can taste the thyme and other spices in it. I didn't care for the mac & cheese but my fiance loved it; wasn't blown away by it. All the seating is outdoors with minimal indoor high seats so it may be best to get it to go. The beverages are island drinks such as the ocean wata (blueberry lemonade) and the Ting (grapefruit soda) which are popular island staples at the convenience stores. They pair great with whatever eats you're ordering. Other food items here that I need to try is the red snapper, the oxtail cheesesteak, and the curry goat. We'll definitely be back to try those! They also do catering as well so that may be another option we'll consider!

I was very excited for the jerk fries because I used to get them from their food truck, but they have not had them on the menu in a while. The jerk chicken was delicious, but the fries were overcooked and dry. I usually like the food here, so I think today was an off day. It was disappointing since my primary reason for visiting today was the jerk fries. The portion sizes exceeded expectations, but unfortunately the food wasn't the best today. The service is always pleasant, however, the pricing for restaurant week was not as advertised. I made them aware of the issue and was advised they would look into it, however, no correction was made to my order. It wasn't the best experience today, but I will try them again.

The chicken was so tender, juicy, savory, bitter, spicy and a little sweet all in one. The flesh was juicy and the skin had some chew to it. It was coated in spices and some glaze. Very consistent and thankfully all dark meat pieces. The collard greens were refreshing, earthy and had a unique, buttery aroma to them. They weren't bitter like some recipes in other places. I love collard greens both exactly like this one and more on the bitter side too. The plantains were thick, creamy in feel and nicely sweet like a little dessert. Love plantains in all forms like I do greens. The service was very welcoming, friendly, helpful and efficient. I plan to also try the curry chicken and oxtails on future visits. I asked for a chicken roti, they were out, and out of any roti for that matter. My husband wanted curry goat, they were out of goat. I ended up getting a beef patty and jerk wings which were too tough, I could hardly chew them. I also ordered some Collard greens which were just okay. I overheard a phone order that they were processing where the person asked for red snapper fish, they were out of that. The only fish they had available was salmon. But if you take a look at their extensive menu you would see they offer many different types of fish. And lastly, we arrived at the rice and peas (which my husband calls them being stingy on the serving size). The amount of rice given is the smallest serving size of rice and peas I've ever seen served in a Caribbean restaurant. It's not nearly enough to go alongside the rest of the food. Be prepared if you order to go, you'll probably need to order a side of rice in addition to what they give you. The service is good, it's always good, they are friendly and helpful, but it doesn't make up for what they lack in food.

Of course I was happy to indulge her request as it gave me an opportunity to try some handheld eats. First the beef pattie, pretty big and so savory with the meat melting in your mouth and the dough having a nice texture and crust. And then the saheena; OMG! It was my first time having this lovely pastry which is made of chickpeas, spinach, and caribbean spices. You'll be hooked on this after one bite. Texture was similar to a savory piece of cornbread. Of course I was very happy with this item. The girlfriend ordered a currant roll which had some sweetness to it with a flaky crust. I enjoyed it but not as much as I was scarfing down my beef pattie and saheena. They also serve traditional caribbean eats including jerk chicken, oxtails, bake & saltfish, and roti wraps. We noticed a lot of people place to go orders here and call ahead for pick up. There were several bags of eats waiting as we witnessed people roll in and pick them up while having small talk with the owners. All those items looked delicious and we plan to come back and try those out. We also talked to the owners for a bit, they're a husband/wife team who've owned/operated this place for a while. Super polite and gracious, they helped me navigate the menu and explained what the items would be like when I ordered. A 3.5 would have been more accurate quite honestly but alas, yelp has its system. I ordered the bake and fried fish and the doubles. I asked for spicy on the doubles but they didn't taste too spicy - instead I used the sauce included on my bake n fish (possibly had some scotch bonnet peppers) and it was excellent.
