The gold part fell off in less than a year and when I called, they said they couldn't do anything about it. I took super good care of it, it just fell off one day while I was at dinner. I cannot say enough amazing things about this place!! I came across Iris Piercing by accident the one day and was amazed at the beautiful space and gorgeous collection of quality jewelry. Jesse was so nice and helpful and didn't even mind answering the millions of questions I bugged him with. I ended up getting a new hoop earring for my cartilage and vowing to come back with my sister... which I did. I returned with my sister and we both ended up getting new piercings and fabulous new jewelry. Once again, Jesse was amazingly kind and generous with his time... as was the woman who worked there, whose name I unfortunately forgot. (Sorry!) They both answered all our questions and helped me pick out the right jewelry for my new piercing, which was no easy task, as I am very indecisive. Got so lucky that I happened upon this place! I had an earring that needed to be removed for a head CT. Unfortunately, I was so sedated at the time that I essentially forgot about the removal and lost the earring. Never had it replaced and didn't really prioritize it, but I walked by here while going to Sweatshop a few doors down. I was immediately greeted by Jesse, who politely asked me to hang out and browse while he took care of some other customers. While I was waiting, Sarah asked me if there was anything that interested me and was so nice in showing me different options. Jesse then proceeded to put a small wire through my piercing to see whether or not it had closed up (thankfully, it hadn't). I really appreciated that he did this even before I had actually committed to buying anything, although I did have an earring in mind. After I had decided, he put in the earring for me and made sure that the backing fit perfectly - he actually changed it from the original one he had tried to ensure that it was the best one. Really appreciate how nice, friendly, and helpful both Jesse and Sarah were. Will definitely go back if I have any additional piercing needs. read more

I have now given my experience here a few weeks to sit because I am not a frequent yelper and as someone who has worked in the service industry I try to be understanding. In this case, time has exacerbated how I feel. So yelp, here it is: I was utterly disappointed by the service I received and was embarrassed for the owner to learn that he was in fact the one who provided such underwhelming service. I have had my facial piercing for several years and take pride in keeping it clean and well-maintained. I went to Iris after looking at the reviews and figured that with multiple locations they would be able to assist me in choosing new face jewelry and replacing it. The first person that helped me was pleasant and helped me pick something out and instructed me to wait a few minutes while the piercer was wrapping up with another customer. I waited and after the piercer helped someone else who came in after me, I was annoyed but still understanding and patient. When it was finally my turn, I sat in the chair and Jesse removed my facial jewelry and replaced it with the pieces that I had picked out. I was initially taken aback by the price of the rings but value quality and figured that I had come to the right place for the utmost service. Nope. Jesse placed my nose rings and when I expressed that they were not fitting to my liking he suggested a potentially dangerous, uncomfortable, and unprofessional way of adjusting the size. He showed me the next size down and told me that he didn't think it would fit. I indicated that I would be able to adjust them myself because I have worked with metal before and he seemed very interested and willing to take my money and have me leave completely unsatisfied. Facial piercings are not all created equal, it is not an exact science and if you don't have the means to adjust jewelry in an appropriate way you should make that known before the point of no return. I have $150 worth of metal that I don't want and doubt that this place will ever actually correct the situation. Thanks for nothing. read more

I've been here twice in the last month - the first time to get my nose pierced and the second time to remove irritated cartilage and conch piercings I had gotten a couple years ago. Both experiences were amazing! Carly greeted me both times and was very helpful and welcoming. Found this place through yelp since I was looking for high end jewelry for my nose piercing. It's expensive here, but you get what you pay for and I have not had any allergic reactions or problems with the jewelry I purchased. Store employees are super helpful and are willing to take out the jewelry so that you can see it up close what it would look like on. It was super busy when I was here on a Saturday afternoon. I got curious and wanted to see if my tragus could be pierced since it's pretty tiny. Casey said she could do it and two months later, it's doing great! Went to Iris after visiting THREE other places in NYC (I know I'm crazy but c'mon, it's a hole in my face). Hands down, the best selection and customer service. No sass, employees were all down to earth. They have prices to suit every budget, which you wouldn't think walking in because dayum, this place is snazzy. Sarah helped me choose my nose stud and was unbelievably patient while I tried several options because if you haven't picked up on it yet I'm a wee bit indecisive. Casey pierced my nose - it was quick, easy and on a pain scale 1-10, a 2/3. It's been an hour and my nose doesn't hurt AT ALL. In total, I paid about $200 for piercing, jewelry, aftercare + tip, but you can go much much cheaper (again, you guys, it's my FACE). I chose Iris piercing because of the rave reviews I read online. I ended up getting multiple (4 piercings at once) 2 cartilage in one ear and one lobe piercing in each ear in January 2022. The process was quite easy and Sophie was very helpful. She explained the entire process to me and helped me pick out jewelry. I wish I took more time to decide on jewelry instead of being rushed into my decision because the studs selected ended being overly expensive and now a waste. If you can find reasonable real gold/platinum/sterling silver earrings at a reputable place/online, then bring those with you (the ones I bought). My ears were pierced without complication - some bleeding, but that was expected. When I asked about aftercare and whether I should be applying saline or a cleaning spray, I was told that saline was unnecessary and as long as I cleaned them twice a day, dried them well and didn't sleep on them I'd be good to go. The first 2 weeks I didn't sleep on them, rinsed them well in the shower etc, but I noticed a bump growing around the piercings. I returned to the studio concerned and they told me that it was trauma from sleeping on them (which I didn't) and it would go away with hot compresses - no saline was advised. Hot compresses didn't work and the bumps persisted, even bled when washed/cleansed. I work in healthcare and I had a colleague look at them and she was concerned for infection vs keloids and advised to return to the piercer or/and see a dermatologist (unfortunately the earliest I could get an appt with my derm was in 3 months time). I returned again a few weeks later (now 8+ weeks after initial piercing) because it the bumps had not gone away with cleansing, hot compresses, wound cleanser. I was told that the bumps were not keloids and my ears were not rejecting the piercings, I needed to stop sleeping on my ears (which I wasn't), continue hot compresses and they'd heal. 2 months later, within 1 week I woke up to the earrings missing to both lobe piercings. I believe the earrings were pushed out of the hole. I was able to recover the post of one the earrings, but the other post and both of the earrings are lost somewhere in my room. I replaced them with diamond studs with rubber backs. I finally saw my dermatologist, because at this point, I was very frustrated with Iris and I wanted advice from a specialist. I was told by Dr. Summe that I should've been applying saline soaks to the piercings from the beginning to prevent the granulomas from forming. It's now 9 months from the initial piercing and the lobe piercings have healed but the cartilage has not; just last night, the earring in the top cartilage piercing was pushed out due to the granuloma and the hole has now closed over. I'm worried for the bottom hole and I'm waiting to hear back from my derm on whether I need to now apply topical steroids. Moral of this long story: when in doubt apply the saline, or if you feel like your piercer isn't taking you concerns seriously and if anything looks odd, seek a dermatologist sooner rather than later - I probably could've saved my cartilage piercing and my wallet (lost expensive earrings - only 1 of the OG 4 I bought is still in my ear). read more

The staff in this studio are so professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. I had my septum pierced here a while back, which healed perfectly. I also came in for an old tragus piercing that would fluctuate between healed and irritated years (lol), which I couldn't even remove. Vanessa was able to remove it and downsize it to a snug post so that it wouldn't snag back and forth. Immediately, it's already looking better. I'll only be coming here for piercings. If I could give more than 5 stars I would...I'm super paranoid about Covid but wanted to purchase new jewelry. I called the shop -Carlie was so accommodating- she sent pictures and videos and was so patient with me -even after I was super arbitrary and unsure of what I wanted. After I picked out what I wanted via text, I paid over the phone and swung by to pick up the jewelry. Carlie even brought it outside to me (because she knew I didn't want to go inside the shop) and was conscious about how close she was getting to me during the hand off. I didn't have any questions since she explained everything so well, and they were quick and efficient without feeling rushed. They were also very helpful but not pushy; I didn't want to spend a ton of extra money on expensive jewelry in addition to the piercing itself, and they let me take my time looking at options and didn't try to pressure me into anything, which was great! This review isn't like the others. I had 2 cartilage piercings done back in Aug 2019. They have given me nothing but problems for over a year. This isn't related to Iris in any way but they couldn't have been more helpful or more supportive especially in a pandemic. I went back for a new alternative care program but after that was unsuccessful they provided me a full refund and recommended a piercing studio out of state where I could have them taken out. This separates them from all other studios. I highly recommend based on their customer service alone. read more

I absolutely LOVE this place!!! My 6yo daughter had an earring stud backing completely stuck in her earlobe. When we walked in we were greeted immediately. My daughter was super nervous and they explained the process to her and made her feel at ease. They were also very helpful in sharing their experiences with piercings. Super kind with kids and great at being patient. We also purchased earrings for her and they helped my daughter choose her earrings which made her SUPER excited. They are so great with children that my 8yo was motivated to pursue getting earrings again. It's been a struggle to get earrings because we thought the hole was closed. During the stud removal, before every step, they explained what was going to happen, they took their time. Unfortunately, the ear stud backing was not removed because my daughter couldn't handle the pain, otherwise, it would have been out. They suggested we go to the doctor just to get the earlobe numb and she wouldn't feel pain. They never made her feel bad about stopping the process. We will all be back to put in the new earring and also for my older daughter. I'm even thinking of getting a second earlobe piercing myself!!! After having headaches everyday, seeing three neurologists and being prescribed medication over the course of about 6 years, I decided to get the Daith Piercing. I got the piercing on August 10, 2017 and my headaches stopped as of August 12, 2017. This is unbelievable. Both my sister and I had the Daith Piercing done and she too has not had any headaches. I went to Iris Piercing to have a piercing done in the same area I've got pierced at another establishment - it had closed previously due to irritation. They made me feel very comfortable as they had followed all sorts of safety precautions like ensuring that the instruments being used were sterilized and had me fill out forms that asked abt allergies etc. It was almost as though I was at a doctors office only I was surrounded by beautiful jewelry and a comfortable atmosphere. During the piercing process they talked me through what they were doing and what I might feel. They also advised me on the after care. Although I HATE needles I felt very comfortable and safe at Iris. I will be back for more piercings with them. Looking forward to going again read more

Okay, first of all the staff was absolutely incredible !!! My gallery assistant, Carly, was so informative, welcoming and kept all social distance guildelines and the gallery super clean and beautiful with a stunning array of jewelry. And my piercer, Janeese, was sooooo kind and patient. I had my second ever body piercing done (first when I was 16, I'm now 25 ) so I was a bit nervous. But I felt at ease with their knowledge and willingness to answer all my questions. The room was sterilized, the piercing process efficient and through, and was given after care instructions with a direct contact to my piercer for any questions or concerns. They also followed up after my piercing via studio text line to see how I was healing which I appreciated very much !! I cannot recommend enough for any piercing needs - jewelry or piercing.
