We just wanted something low key, and searching for a bar, the Black Shamrock came up. It's in the old space that housed O'Tooles. I had never been, because it looked too seedy...LOL! The Shamrock is a welcomed change to a really cool space. What a great place to come to! They have really opened the space up and it's much brighter and inviting. The bartenders are friendly and make some really good drinks! We also spoke to the owners and it was fun to hear the story behind the purchase and renovations of the bar. I made reservations for 5:45 PM however when I checked in at Pint and Jigger, I was notified that the reservations were for P&J and not the speakeasy which opens at 6 PM. You walk through a whiskey wall and walk upstairs to the speakeasy. They used a lot of the decor from the former location known as Harry's Emporium. We were the only ones for about an hour so we were able to maximize the bartender's time. Max is an excellent bartender and informed us that they are only open on the weekends for now. He's the only bartender and they are still working out staffing issues. No food at the moment. The theme is New Orleans/French. The drinks and music all have that vibe. The room is dim but not too dark. We left around 7:30 PM when two other couples showed up. We will definitely be returning.

A once pretty cool spot, but suggest any/all airline or US military crews steer clear of this place as the warm "aloha" (for visiting aircrews) is nonexistent. Sad that their corrupt politics has got the staff all afraid of their own shadows. Go find somewhere/anywhere else. I was already in Waikiki for work when I got a text asking if I wanted to go out for Karaoke - she had a friend visiting from LA and even tho it was a Thursday- I was down. This tiny little bar was PACKED on a Thursday night. And literally everyone was so friendly and the vibes were just right. It really felt like a safe space. I loved the decor from astro boy, the rainbow neon signs, and the old school airplane beverage carts! I only ordered a singular tequila shot with a pineapple back - so I can't speak on their speciality cocktails or anything like that. I will say, that I couldn't do my shot in one go and had to half it. I had a great night, made some new friends and reconnected with an old childhood friend. 5 stars for the amazing memories at Wang Chung's. If you're wondering, as a group we sang Santeria by Sublime and got home by midnight for the perfect karaoke night out.
