    Seasoned fries

I ordered 2 seasoned fries. The cost for each order of fries is $9 for that ridiculous amount of food or lack there of. I was surprised how there wasn't a lot of food and plus the seasoning... what seasoning.

    Fish tacos

Went here with a friend specifically for fish tacos. Found a nice table outside, inside, was kind of noisy. Got the two fish tacos for $16. The fish, mahi-mahi, was nicely crisp and a decent size. Sadly it came in flour tortillas which is NOT traditional baja style but the server did say if requested you can get soft corn. Also, no beans or rice just a small portion of colored chips. Wasn't enough food for dinner I had to eat some leftovers I had when I got home. Not bad but nothing great that's for certain. Oh service was good.

I went there for an event on Saturday night. It was a cool sports bar type place. Drinks were okay. As for the food, I only had wings and they were decent. The service was pretty good as well. I don't mind coming back here again.

lobster roll on daily specials menu
    Angel H.

They have an upstairs and downstairs location now. It took the place of Bdubs and Pink Snapper at Discovery Bay. The upstairs location is more like a restaurant and the downstairs a bar. Someone picked me up a lobster roll the other day. It was on their daily specials menu for $24. It was good. I love the sauce that they put on it instead of just plain butter. It also had a piece of lettuce on the bottom of the toasted roll, so that the bread didn't get soggy. Smart move! There were some fillers in there though. It wasn't all lobster. I tasted some imitation crab mixed in with the chunks of lobster. The few chunks of lobster in there was fresh and firm. It was also bigger than most lobster rolls and took up the whole length of the take out box. It came with three pieces of potato wedges. I thought the container had standard ketchup, but it was actually ketchup mixed with barbecue sauce. Yummers! I've eaten at this place many times before and the food has always been excellent. I'd get the lobster roll again if I saw it.

This place used to be a downstairs bar/ food establishment that we loved! We arrived today to find out it's now at Tequila bar downstairs with limited food, and that the same owner opened up a new place upstairs still called Tropics. I recommend going upstairs more food choices and also looks like a sports bar. The girl that served us was wonderful too.

I came here and enjoyed it. I got here on the first day of my visit, Sunday evening and saw that they had a gluten free pizza. It had a cauliflower pizza and it was great. I had three pizzas. The first was the truffle and bacon - yum! The next time I went I had a pepperoni pizza at happy hour - great! The last evening, we had the meatza pizza and it was OK. Not because of them, but I'm not a fan of ground beef on pizza for some reason. Also this place didn't seem the cleanest if you were eating outside. Lots of tiny birds were flitting around and my husband didn't mind, but that was weird to me because birds here don't come near people. But there, they kinda like to hang out. The dud? The nachos with carnitas. The tortillas were weird and they became super soggy. Soggy, because the carnitas tasted like they had a lot of liquid. The cheese sauce was gross. I thought it was inedible, but my husband ate the carnitas, sans cheese sauce and tortillas. Yech! So a star lost. But they gained it by having two things. First, they had a cider. Which was awesome! Second, the people who work there are totally nice and I enjoyed communicating with them. We had a different hostess every time we went and they were nice and accommodating. I appreciated them. So, yes, the five stars for a great experience.

    Lilikoi Chicken Wings

We came here to meet with my other half's God mother on a Thursday night. They are a part of a Filipino cultural performance group. It was a large party, 35 people so we definitely called ahead. Our server was pleasant, but I did feel like she was overwhelmed working such a large party on her own. They didn't get a shipment or their delivery hadn't been received because they were out of several beers and quite a few menu items. We had the lilikoi bbq chicken wings and kalua pig nachos. Both were tasty and reasonably priced.

This review for the one upstairs. Tropics downstairs no longer serve pizzas, so now I frequent upstairs more. Nick is bartending this slow evening while I'm checking out late basketball games on TVs. Nick remembers how I ordered pizza last time, extra crispy with cauliflower dough. Zee is kind and attentive. I love my roni pizza with jalapeños on crispy cauliflower dough... am I high maintenance?? I know what I like... All is good here for a late evening snack and chilling.

    Beers

I found this little gem thanks to Yelp. It was outside of our village resort but we wanted to try something outside. We were hoping to find something less family oriented and possibly cheaper than the resort. Tropics looked really close outside the resort on the map but walking in the heat made it feel like forever. Once we found it, I went inside to request a table for 2 outside. I think there was only one person working the whole restaurant. She was bartender, hosting, and serving from what I observed. Luckily it was not so busy and it was early in the afternoon. The restaurant inside looked very spacious from what I saw and there were several tables outside with umbrellas to provide lovely shade. We were given menus and asked what we would like to drink. We ordered some beers that looked unique. Our drinks came out quickly and decided to order some food. We ordered some burgers and Furikake fries. Although we had a plane to catch to Kona, we had a couple of hours to spare so we were not in a rush. Our food came out rather quickly anyway-isn't that the way of how the universe works anyway??? This was the first time we had Furikake and it was sooooo good! The burgers were great too. Of course I could not finish so I took the fries to go in case we were hungry in our travels. Everything was great here-the food, the service, the set up, even the prices were decent. We were that impressed that we managed to find a Tropics in Waikoloa Village and went there a couple times!

    Moco Loco
    Nick C.

Really cool spot right by the hotel I was staying at. Walked up and was seated right away and greeted by the sweet serenade of live music! Playing some island classics as well as some mainland throwbacks. I had the moco loco as well as the wings and was happy with both dishes. The moco loco was a news experience for me and I'm certainly a big fan. Big flavors for a big dish. The wings were delicious and had a great spice. I love a place that rocks with the 3-piece wings. Washed it all down with the Maui Brewing pineapple wheat. Perfect complement.

    Happy Hour Volcano Nachos
    Amber M.

Great Happy Hour! The place was kinda hard to find via the map app. But once we got there we liked the below sidewalk level patio seating. The drinks are a little week but they are cheap. We ordered appetizers; nachos, sliders and edamame. The nachos were cold but okay. The beef sliders were delicious and so was the garlic edamame. Being on vacation at a pricey resort this is just the place I needed to find! Good service , decent food at a great price.

    One piece of mahi mahi
    Bella S.

We came into our hotel late that night, and my boyfriend wanted a sports bar and luckily for us. This place is right across the street from our hotel, this is not to be confused with Tropics Grill and bar at the Hilton. They have lots of pool tables and lots of TVs and live music, it's definitely a nice way to start vacation. The bartender, I forgot his name was super friendly and very attentive, he even made me a lava flow, even though it's not on the menu, I deducted a star because the food was not very good, mediocre at best, I was excited to try the mahi-mahi, and paid a good amount of money for one piece of fish that was super greasy and not very crispy, my boyfriend had a chicken sandwich, which was OK, the french fries were seasoned very good though and we were starving time we got there. It is a cool bar, and if we go back there, I would definitely get drinks there, but no food.
