11/22/23 update. We came here as a group of 6 on the night prior to Thanksgiving. We made a reservation. Once everyone in our party showed up, we were immediately seated. Service was perfect. Pretty unique as a buffet experience. Great if you want to talk and chill as it will take time to cook your food so that REALLY takes away from the buffet vibe as I just wanna eat food on a massive scale. And table can only be hold for 5 minutes and all party members have to be here. The waiter we have on our table was great, very quick and clean up the dishes and asking what we want to order. This was my first time going to Korean BBQ but I will absolutely be back! So fun to be able to cook your own meats, and makes for faster service! I loved being able to try a ton of different meats. Going with a large group makes it easier to be able to sample more. You can have 3 meats at a time and 1 side, but it's all you can eat! I tried all of the Bulgogi meats, garlic pork steak, beef brisket, pork belly, soy chicken, and seasoned steak. My favorite was the Hawaiian Bulgogi. The soy chicken was so juicy and tender. Anyone who invites me out to Korean BBQ, or KBBQ, would be pleased to know that I would drop whatever it is I'm doing at the moment and join them for what I believe is one of the most epic dining experiences ever. The last time I was here in Chicago before my current trip, COVID-19 had just become a pandemic and local and state governments were shutting down everything left and right. Sadly, the 'rona dashed my plans to have KBBQ with my relatives here in the Windy City before I hurried back to Texas. Fast forward a little more than three years later, and we made up for lost time. Every good thing they said about Iron Age is true because I, too, am over the moon with the establishment. The four of us got our fill on numerous, delicious helpings of beef and pork. There was plenty of rice and barchan to go around as well. We saw our server every few minutes, which is a good thing to me because that shows how eager they are to give us an amazing time at the restaurant. I also noticed that Iron Age isn't too far from where we celebrated my niece's high school graduation a few days before. Great place. Would legit always give them 5 stars and tip well. However something happened that upset me on my last visit. The server wouldn't give us 2 pairs of tongs. There were 2 of us, and we wanted to cook our food separately. When we asked for another pair of tongs, the server said they only allow one pair of tongs per table. This is a great place to go if you really enjoy Korean BBQ. Usually we go to Mr Kimchi in Randhurst but this place is just as good. Make sure that you come hungry though. This place is somewhat a hidden gem, located near the back area of a strip mall with more prominent venues like Bonchon and Tour de Jours. I really didn't know what to expect, and thought this was a steak house, but it was a K-BBQ, which for AYCE $29 (as of 2023 writing of this review) was an awesome surprise! Inside, there are multiple rows long tables, with multiple Korean BBQ grills, or you can opt for the smaller booths, with one, space permitting. It is somewhat loud, with all the walls consisting of giant projection screens, showing K-POP. Overall vibe, is like a club, except the only dancing involved, is the delicious food in your mouth. The selection of food was great! We had all the steaks on the menu, with Seasoned Steak being my favorite. It was a tenderized top blade steak seasoned with Montreal steak seasoning. So good. Pop it 3-4minutes on each side, and you got yourself a nice charred medium-cooked steak. Dipping sauces were on-point, and the service was top-notched. They helped with some of the cooking times and they switched-out the grill. One of them even offered to cut the pork belly for us, as we were struggling at one point. Had an Amazing experience at Iron Age. I've only had Korean bbq one other time, but iron age blew me away. I had three rounds of the beef bulgogi. The meat marinate was so tasty! The service was amazing. Our server John Ryan was very attentive and made sure we were always taken care of. The ambiance was awesome. The hosts were extremely rude and when we kept asking for a bigger table with at least 2 stoves they got irritated by me asking. Finally tried Iron Age in Glenview due to distance for some friends. Got to say, love this location more than wicker park! The inside is quite big. We went during lunch on Sunday with a group of 8 and pretty much got a table right away. They won't seat you until everyone is there so make sure your party is present which is normal for all you can eat places like this. Weekend price is always dinner price but that's where you get the good meat. We started off with the unmarinated meat like beef brisket, steak, and pork belly. They will change the grill after 2-3 times since it does get black pretty fast. So honestly, doesn't matter if you get marinated or not first. But beef brisket and the steak we got were both good! Pork belly was not my favorite. It got really dry and had a weird after taste for me. But I rather eat beef than other meat at Korean bbq. Got the marinated beef bulgogi and squid. They were also ok. Has a little spicy kick to it but not too spicy in my opinion. The orders are pretty big so make sure you order 1 by 1. At the end we tried to order a 1/2 order of brisket and the nice waiter let us. So you can also ask for less if you know you won't finish the full. At the table it came with pickled radish dishes, sauces but you can order other sides like japchae, kimchi, eggs and a few more. Not a lot of side dishes like your typical Korean restaurant but hey you're there for the meat right? You can order 1 rice per person and definitely get their salad! The sauce is very good! At the wicker park location if you wanted lettuce leaf to wrap meat you would have to pay extra but here it was free this time. For those who likes raw garlic and that Korean paste sauce (not sure what it's called) you can ask for it because they have it! When I'm doubt ask to see. Definitely one of the best ayce Korean restaurant and location. Will definitely be back for more. Forget wicker park if you're able to go to glenview. Service from the receptionist to waiters were all exceptional! Everyone looked happy like they wanted to be there. Service was extremely fast.
