Tom is a lifesaver! Received a recommendation from my coworker. I texted Tom that I needed someone to snake my sewer clean out. He responded right away, and was able to make it to my house just a few hours later. I had to go to work, so he had me send him a photo of the location of the valve and took care of everything without me even having to be there. So convenient, reasonably priced, and my kitchen sink is draining beautifully. He even diagnosed the issue for me, letting me know that I needed to raise the drain pipe under my house, and advising that I hire a handyman or do it myself since he could do it for me, but I probably didn't want to pay a plumber's hourly rate for something so simple. DO NOT HIRE. Very expensive and didn't delivery what he promised. And he made the situation worse. He was rude, unprofessional, rushing, very mentally unstable, cursed and yelled, shitty attitude, did not listen to me at all! He belittled me and demanded me to do all these tasks for him basically treating his customers like his assistant. He broke his mechanical snake cable while he was doing the job, he was very angry and started to yell the F word many times. Then he had the audacity to blame us for it and say we have to pay for it. $250 for 20 mins of his presence plus he wants to charge $100 for the snake cable he destroyed. Basically we are paying him $350 for making the situation worse. We need to hire another company to come out and fix the problem, and it is a more expensive fix now. What a waste of time and money. There are plenty good plumbers out there who charge less and actually solve problems without all these BS. Dont spoil these bad guys read more

I got referred to Iron Horse from my friend who does remodeling. Got a call back pretty quick from Tom and I was able to text pictures of the issues I had with my gate valve. Repairs were done in about 45 minutes and all the neighbors were happy the water didn't have to be off for the 2 hours maintenance told them it would be. He told me how to prepare and what to expect. We found that the valve had actually been dripping behind the wall and had just melted the drywall, he offered to refer me to a drywall guy he's worked with to redo the wall and also explained how I could cover it on my own if I didn't want to pay someone to do it. Tom helped me screw in a plug box for a new disposal when my drill died then mounted. Total cost was explained and fell in line with what we had discussed because other than the drywall no surprises, fell just above the average for other quotes, good price for quality work that I don't have to worry about. Super nice, friendly, cleaned the work area after and explains what was done, and things to look for in a condo as old as mine. read more

The manufacturer of our water heater Stiebel Eltron recommended him to us. Prior to Tom we had calls out to three plumbers with no response. I called Tom on Thursday he answered promptly and we set an appointment for Saturday at 6:30 am. He arrived promptly and he installed the parts necessary. We did have to call an electrician to put in a new circuit breaker to get power to the water heater. Tom called the next day inquiring about the heater which worked fine! I was pleasantly surprised that anyone would follow up when their work was completed. He was honestly concerned. The next day the heater overheated and I texted Tom. He immediately called me back and told me what to do until he could get there the following morning! Again he arrived on time and figured out the new problem and fixed that too. I haven't had customer service like that in years! He was getting some calls for service by other people and still stayed as long as needed to solve our problem. If you have a simple job that is obvious and requires no detecting of leaks or figuring out the existing plumbing, maybe he is good. We have been using him to find leaks in two stacks. He only found a drip that was out in the open coming from a toilet line. He entirely missed a shower with old rusted out underside. The owner hired their own plumber who found the problem. Tom looked, ran water and listened but could find no leak, even though we took him to the shower, pointed out the original 50 year old shower, told him every other one had a rusted out bottom long before 50 years. We showed him the blisters in the wall and floor. He found nothing. If you are a building manager, avoid him like the plague. He immediately started belittling the job I do, saying that I sit in the office and watch TV all day ( I clean all day, as anyone who lives here will verify), points at a wind blown leaf and says "Why is that there?" He asked me in a belittling tone, "Have you ever worked anyplace for more than a year?" Typical Narcissist's behavior. He sends in reports to the Property Manager and hints to me that he is saying bad things about me in them. He acts as if I am his assistant and that I have nothing better to do than to follow him around all day helping with every little detail of his job. He was supposed to fix a sump. I told him the pump was trying to pump, but nothing was coming out, I thought the line as clogged. After wasting 4 hours and buying pipes we did not need he finally snaked the pipe and solved the problem. He never found the leaks in either stack, and had to have the Property Manager pushing him to even look in the correct spot. The last time he was here he ordered me to have the residents run their washing machines one at a time while I sit in the bottom watching for water. His job. I was doing so, as well as tracking down the leak in the other stack he never found when he called me up and said " You have not done anything have you?" as if I were his bad employee, instead of him being an almost useless plumber. He might be cheap, but if you are a manager he will to make you be his assistant and then stab you in the back with whoever he thinks you work for. The owner Tom is a no frills plumber. He can be a little gruff when stressed but he's a one man show and answers his own phone and does his own scheduling. One thing I've noticed is that if he says he'll do something, his word is gold. He'll work to get the job done, even if it means late into the evening. I had him repair my sink and a leaky toilet. He does a thorough job and cleans up after he's done. The best part is, his prices are reasonable. I highly recommend Iron Horse Plumbing. A few months later... I really thought I found a plumber who was reasonably priced and conscientious. Sorry to report that the owner Tom lacks professional courtesy. I called and inquired about a sprinkler leakage problem and he said he could come the next day. The day he was supposed to show up, he texts to cancel saying he can't make it and call him the next day. I dutifully call, and text him. No response. Finally I call in the afternoon and he gives me a lame excuse about not being able to come because he got delayed at the bank and it was too late in the day. Too late? He's been over at my house at 5:30pm before! Why don't these people just tell me if they aren't qualified to do the job, then I wouldn't wait around all day thinking they will come over?! Beware of Iron Horse Plumbing I will not use Iron Horse Plumbing again. Thomas, of Iron Horse Plumbing, was hired to install replacement appliances in my 92-year-old father's condominium. Shortly after Thomas connected the dishwasher, it developed a leak that was not detected until damage appeared in the condominium unit below. Damage to both units was extensive and expensive. Thomas originally agreed to take responsibility for the damage and pay for the repairs. Later, he denied responsibility, refused to pay for the repairs, and threatened court action if he was not paid immediately. I have no trust in a plumber who denies responsibility for leaks in pipe connections that developed soon after he works on them and is so ready to threaten court action. read more
