I only spoke to them on the phone and I spoke to a lady who's name sounds like "GOLDEN " it would be her last week there ( unfortunately for them cuz she is the type of employee that is a keeper ) She was extremely knowledgeable and helpful she eased my mind about taking care of my conversion Van . I didn't take it there because I found ( by accident ) a place extremely close to my home , whereas Iron Horse was over 20 miles from my home . Other wise i would have taken my van there ! read more

Took my bus in for some basic repairs on 1st visit. * "Fix the aqua hot" I go back to pick up my fixed unit but the electric element was never replaced. And you better believe they charged me labor for fixing what should have been fixed the first time. Epitome of "half way." * "fix the awnings" Arrive a few hours away and the corner pieces where never secured, so cloth coming out again. Half way repair. They charged me labor to finish the job upon second visit. * fix the air level system They diagnosed the issue and did repair. Could not complete until my return visit, which was why I went back to begin with. * service the engine and generator They did service the engine, but neglected the generator. "When you bring it back, we will do that too, sorry." * "can u install these batteries for me?" Sure thing.....except the lady agreed to something the store has a policy against. Thankfully they honored her word on that particular issue and resolved. SECOND VISIT: My coach was with them for I think a month or better as they finished up the several issues....I head back to pick up and as I'm leaving, I put the bus in park in order to hook up my tow car. But the bus is still moving while in park! I honk my horn and eventually the guys staring at me come to the window. I explain the brakes are not working (even tho I had requested in my initial in person walkthrough that the tires/brakes be checked before our long trip.) sadly, I didn't put that one in my several emails and they deny I ever said or requested it. #convenient (I then insisted all further communication be via email for their accountability moving forward.) Anyway - I yell out the window that the brakes don't work and the mechanic says "well it ain't supposed to do that." Insert blank stare. So not only did they not check - apparently no one noticed the brake issue while driving the rv back and forth from the shop to the parking lot several times. That blows my mind.... But maybe we let that slide. Everything else has been half way so this shouldn't surprise me. THREE MONTHS LATER: It took a while for the parts to arrive to their credit. But I left the shop and drove to tyler, tx. When I parked I noticed oil leaking from my tire. I immediately head to a new shop and as you can see, iron horse out new calipers, brakes, drums, etc but REUSED THE OLD SEALS! My coach could have caught fire. My wife and daughter who live here full time could have been injured - all because of half way work. Now my brakes and calipers must be replaced due to oil and heat marks from insufficient work. If you need basic stuff that is easy to inspect / iron horse is your shop. If you need important stuff done all the way - run. Either they're incompetent or dishonest. I hope it's just some bad mechanics...the owner seemed like a man of integrity. read more

Staring down a campfire with friends and new acquaintances is always a great part of RV life. It's a magical time where traveling experiences, some good and some bad, are shared. Darla Kane Bartoli and I were having one of those "My God! What a horrible experience we had with Camping World and our awnings." experiences with our newfound campfire com-padres at a Thousand Trails not long ago. At the end of that "Two Cocktail" nightmare story, the person across the fire said, "Iron Horse RV Specialists in San Antonio are the folks you need to see." We made the trek to the FamCamp at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, and I went to investigate Iron Horse RV Specialists. I was greeted by the smiling faces of Gina and Golden as I entered the Iron Horse RV Specialist's business office. Gina patiently listened to me explain what I needed in awning replacements and additions. Gina asked specific questions and she made some notes. A few days later Gina called to explain what my options were. I placed the order and awaited her call letting me know that all the parts were received, and we set up the service date. It is readily apparent on arriving at Iron Horse RV Specialist that they are a premiere RV Service Center. We were greeted by Chad. Chad confirmed what service we expected. Chad showed us where we would park our home for the 3 days stay while all our work was completed. Iron Horse RV Specialist realized that we were Full Time RV people and that we needed to live in our coach during the installation of a new Patio Awning and three window awnings. We were given all we asked for, electricity, and a place to park overnight. Chad and James completed the installation of all our new window awnings, and they replaced our damaged Patio Awning. Our coach looks wonderful. The professionalism of everyone we met during our visit was incredible. Every employee we encountered was a smiling, friendly, and professional person who acted as if they personally owned the company. Pride of being a part of Iron Horse RV Specialist is readily evident. Raymund Lund has built a fine family of dedicated employees. As we continue down the road exploring America, we take a marvelous feeling from our visit with Iron Horse RV Specialist. It's only a matter of time before we stare down at a campfire with friends and new acquaintances. I can imagine our conversation. Nothing but GREAT service. Took my TH for a well needed wash. We just got back from NM and it was dirty (salt, dirt and 1 year of everything) It was better than new. Thank you so much. Very very friendly. I called to make appointment and they said Monday, I have the trailer hooked and asked if i can drop it Friday, they said no problem. When i got there they told me to park it in the wash bay..!! 4 hours later they called me. Trailer was ready. It is a ONE STOP. They have RV Dump, Inspection, Propane. read more

Someone wrote a review and stated stay as far away from them as possible. I could not agree more. Iron Horse will rip you off. They look at the cosmetic stuff to address and charge you an extreme amount of money. Some of the things they did to my 2010 Class C with 10,500 miles and keeping it for well over a month - caulk all the screws and around seams on the roof, change the windshield wipers and fluid, check the refrigerator, heater, a/c. , supposedly replaced a power converter which I have no ideal where or why. The Generator had 45 hours, but they said it would not stay running which it was running when we took it in. They even managed to break the latches on the door but did not claim responsibility, and said they could order a new door or latches (I would have to pay for it). Replaced some rubber seal on the slide-outs and 2 awning shocks. This is where it get's really bad, after I drove it home and parked it, the next day I noticed a strip of reflective tape above the tail light, when I went to look at it I could see where they covered up a small hole about the size of a quarter, but they did not stop there, they felt the need to place a matching reflective strip on the opposite side to match. I did call the owner (Raymond), which took several calls over several days for him to call me back. When I asked him about the hole he said that they did not do it. I asked if he check with his employees and he said no that his guy's would not do that but he would ask anyhow. I brought up another concern I had when he unloaded on me and told me to F--K off and hung up. As a former business owner, I would never treat a customer in that fashion nor react as he did. I have found out in life when people react as he did they are usually guilty as charged. So huge warning he charges 165.00 per hour regardless if it is replacing windshield wipers or checking to see if the refrigerator is cooling. $5,500.00 later which did include replacing the tires my Class C was in worse shape than when I took it to them. I would not let them touch it if it broke down in front of their location. read more

We just had several repair and maintenance services performed on our Class A Fleetwood Bounder 33C RV during the month of June 2024. We chose Iron Horse RV because we have used them before and had great experiences. This time our experience was definitely five star again. Iron Horse can fix everything on the RV. We had a slide-out repaired, house batteries and tires replaced, a water problem resolved and they even diagnosed a surge problem I was having with the engine. The service personnel were top notched. Gina and Goldi are awesome! Russell was my service technician and he went above and beyond explaining the repairs to our coach. Raymond, the owner, took time to explain an engine issue and recommended a repair place for the fix. We appreciated this so much. As for cost, every service repair was detailed and provided to us. Overall, we feel we were treated great! Now....we just need to travel and enjoy our RV. read more

I was planning my upcoming summer travels to Alaska. I called at least 2 1/2 - 3 months ahead of time and scheduled an appointment for March 11th for the following: Heating element or thermostat needed replaced on my Splendide dryer; Squirrel cage, front AC replaced (While running the heat pump, my front AC did the same my rear had done the previous year - sounded like it was seizing, small plastic shards coming down through vents). I have a double door residential fridge and one door has become off centered - asked if they could realign the door; Kitchen sink draining slowly (I do not have an obvious P-trap); Flush hot water tank and replace anode (I had what I needed but ran out of time and figured since I was there....) Routine 100 hour maintenance on generator; Lastly, as I was leaving to go to San Antonio, my jacks would not store - jiggling some wires got them operating but I asked that all the wire connections be checked. I arrived on Sunday March 10th as they do give you a gate code and allow dry camping until they can give you 1of 4 water/electric parking sites. I checked in first thing Monday morning - mind you, I had made an appointment at least 2 1/2 months earlier - and was told that they "probably would not get to me today" but that they would get be down below to a hook-up site later that day - which they did. I was not at all concerned about waiting a day. Tuesday, I woke, put things away, puts some stuff in the car in preparation of them getting the RV in. I waited.... and waited and by 3 p.m., no one called or stopped by. Still I figured, no big deal, its an RV shop and lots of unexpected things can go wrong. Wednesday I wanted until about a.m., still no call, no one stopped by so I went to the office and was told that they were backed up and most likely they would not get to me today "If no one is there by 1p.m., they defiantly won't get to you." Okay, no big deal but can you at least keep me informed a little better. I was told that they would "definitely come to get the rig at 8:00 a.m. Thursday. I rose early, put things away and sure enough 8:10 a.m., a tech knocked on the door to say they'd be down to get the rig shortly Packed some stuff and my dog in the car and went to breakfast. After eating, I decided I'd just park in the parking lot and read - the entire time, my rig was visible. 9a.m., 10a.m., 11:00a.m., 12 noon - 1:00 p.m. I went into the office and was told that the last job got "hung up." And they would be down shortly. Now its been 4 days wasted for an appointment made 2 1/2 months previous. Finally about 2:15 they moved the rig into the shop. ONLY 1 1/2 hours later they informed me they were done for the day as they would need to order a thermostat for the dryer which would be here Monday. I was also told that the issue with my front AC WAS NOT the squirrel cage but that it was "the actuator which is a closed system" and in order to repair, the entire unit needed to be replaced - $1,825. I was told that I could still run the AC, just not the heat pump. NOTHING ELSE on my list WAS DONE but I was told they would be down first thing tomorrow (Friday, March 15th) to get all of the other small items done. Nope, so I figured they were just going to wait until the dryer part arrived and do everything at once. I went to the office and for the first time voiced my frustration at the lack of planning and communication. I also explained that I had to be back in Del Rio Texas since I was scheduled to leave with other RV friends the following Friday. Monday, nothing; Tuesday nothing but apparently the part for they dryer arrived. Wednesday they pulled the rig into the shop at about 9:00 a.m. and by NOON they had finished up with everything - not quite - $37.50 wiring on jack system "seems good. Tightened Connections. $25.00 - Refrigerator - No adjustment available $25.00 - "Tested kitchen sink - operation is good" - (Ive lived full-time in this RV for almost 3 years - yes, it is draining slow.) $125 - 1 hour diagnostic I am assuming. Since I "could still run the AC", I chose not to have the AC replaced for $2,400 - plus, its now Wednesday, March 20th and I've been here 8 business days already and I have to get back to Del Rio to leave Friday and I pay my bill for $1,408.71 and leave. When I got back to Del Rio, guess what - I had to spend 15-20 minutes jiggling wires to get my jacks to deploy. It got very hot, turned the AC on, nope, sounds like its going to explode. I paid over $200 to either be told "nothing is wrong, no repair needed" and that my entire front AC would need to be replaced for another $1,825. Additionally, once I got back and extended by bedroom slide, Ive got grease stains in the carpet where they were working. Today it is April 11th and I've finally had a chance to go up and look at the AC - how naive do they think people are when its so OBVIOUS that the squirrel cage has broken fins and shredded pieces! read more

Had service done here and it was the worst place I've been to for my 5th. Shoot, they wanted to change my rear lights at hundreds of dollars and all it took was pushing the 7point in farther. Also, asked if anyone might have turned in my Dewalt cordless 20v air compressor to the lost and found, seems like it grew legs and jumped out of my 5th and ran off. They use the ole line, not responsible for items in the unit, but how do we empty our home!?!? Trust is a must and they don't have mine, not now or ever. Stay clear like the plague. I got dicked for $5k on a tranny from them. Took 2 weeks to finally get the right tranny as they ordered wrong one. On flat gasket from tailshaft of tranny to driveshaft, they reused old gasket and just permasealed around the gasket. Needless to say, it failed. I'm now in Illinois. They're basically telling me sux to be you. They def don't warrant or backup any of their work. After going down the road, I find my rod to hold up hood missing. Again, they denied touching it. THEY HAD TO to add tranny fluid when replacing tranny. STAY AWAY FROM THESE RIPOFF ARTISTS read more

I'd give zero stars, were it possible. We made an appointment for Tuesday and parked in their lot the Monday night before so we were certain to have our coach ready for their team on Tuesday. Went in and talked to Robert at the front desk and gave them our list of issues and told them we had a hotel for a couple nights and we are full-timers, so we need to be living in it as soon as possible. We handed over our keys and headed to the hotel. The next day, Wednesday, my husband called because he had remembered one more item to be looked at. He inquired if anything had been done yet. At this point, we were told they had someone quit and no one would even look at it until the next day. Why was this not mentioned when we dropped it off when they knew we live it in?! Ok, fine, they are starting it Thursday. We gave them a day to get some work done and then, called today, Friday, for an update. Robert told my husband they had done the minor items on the list and sealed up the roof and slide outs. He told my husband this knowing full well we were coming in that night to sleep in the RV in their lot. We came by early because we were in the area and, low and behold, it was in the exact same place we parked it, jacks down, still plugged in. They had done NOTHING. They absolutely lied to my husband like he was too stupid to notice nothing was done. What a HUGE disappointment after having an appointment with them for weeks to be treated this way. I had a very good experience with iron horse, on my way back from New Orleans going back to california when things went wrong, my beaver diesel pusher began to run hot and engine went in to limp mode we called for tow And I have to say this AAA. Towed us to a tire shop 23 miles away then next call they tried to send us to a body shop, Then they drop us of on the side the road in New Braunfels texas at a consignment yard that could not fix our problem. After taking matters in my on hands I found Ironhorse rv repair San Antonio texas within hours of my coach arrival I got a call that a mechanic was working on it they found the problem and in a couple of days the issue was resolved. Flew back to texas and drove my coach home with out any problem. Would have give them 5 stars but the premium price was quite shocking but all in all they preformed their job quite well. read more

I would like to share my experience, I went their to secure my rv furniture sofa, dinette, and 2 captain chairs I remove everything but chair and that was 4 bolts each all mat and cushions were remove all need was screws to secure on wood floor. A job for one tech and 3 hrs was more than enough they charge me 7 hrs which was ridiculous and said 2 techs labor 3 and half hrs each. Never been so taken when I got bill. the tech looks like nice guys but owner is a snake. BAD Business practice Please ask for estimate before job or they will nail you. I would normally give this place a higher rating. However after the last experience with this business has changed my opinion to the point of not going back again. I don't know what changed in the service department, but being a customer for over 5 years. The day I went with my RV they had no time for me. They would not even attempt to temporary fix my RV even after I informed them I had a wedding in Colorado the following week. I took my RV to Texas RV repair on Austin highway. Mark took my RV. Looked over and fixed what needed for a safe trip. Upon return fixed the rest of the issues. Iron Horse RV used to be a place of customer service like Texas RV, once upon a time. read more

Due to hurricane Irma we had issues with our windshield on our motorhome both of them are cracked I had company in Fort Lauderdale the insurance company contacted Ironhorse RV they were to order the glass we were to drive to San Antonio and the glass will be there for us the day before I called to make sure the appointment and I was told bad news nobody ever ordered the glass so evidently they have a miscommunication in their company not happy camper. In nearly seven years of full-time RVing, Iron Horse is the only repair facility we have found that truly understands how to repair motorhomes and has the capabilities and staff to accomplish those repairs. That's not to say that there aren't other shops that have performed competent repairs on our coach, but having a "tool" such as a 60,000 pound lift makes it possible to turn a potentially "fearsome" repair job into a manageable one. Furthermore, Iron Horse's technicians don't just do the job they are assigned; they are always alert for other issues they become aware of. During this recent visit a technician noticed a potentially lethal brake issue and brought it to our attention. That attention to detail could well have saved our lives. I don't mind that we spent 8 days getting everything resolved; skilled work isn't "fast food"! read more

I recently got a quote to install a suspension upgrade on my class A RV. They wanted to charge 12 hours of labor for something that the manufacturer of the parts said it should only take 4 hours by a reputable dealer. Plus, they wanted to charge me $400 more for which I could order them direct. I understand that it takes time to order parts so you mark them up a bit but over 30% is outrageous. To make the experience even worse, back in August I got a quote and the labor hours where 9.5. So what happened in 4 months? So I can only think one of two things. One, the really don't want the job so they price it high thinking I will just walk away. Or two, they really are not a reputable dealer. In either case, they will not be getting my business and I will let my fellow RV'ers know about my experience. read more

Well, what can I say about the staff and technicians except THEY ARE THE BEST! We are on an 8 week RV trip in our 2000 CC Magna 40Ft. Diesel pusher. We had a warning light come on as we were hoping to leave Van Horn Texas last Thursday a.m. Not only did the warning light come on, but the engine repeatedly shut itself down to prevent damage. Needless to say, we needed to be towed. The tow ended up being a two day ordeal as we could not get here to Iron Horse RV, before closing time, so we were safely delivered at about 9:30 a.m. on Friday, July 20th. Iron Horse RV, were gracious enough to diagnose the issue and order the part. In addition, since we were already here, we requested aome additional work, including new AGM house batteries and windshield wiper blades. As luck would have it, over the weekend while hooked up to shore power, our bedroom a/c unit stopped working, so it fell to Iron Horse to find the solution. Not only did they find it, they fixed it all the while, putting us at the head of the line. Trevor, Wade, James, and Bill, as well as Irene are all very professional, telling us what options were available, and what the proper course of action should be given our time costraints. It started with a phone call made by my daughter and Irene took the call. She was very kind, patient and thoughtful in her conversation with my daughter. When we showed up, Jared was very professional in his manners and was able to give us an honest quote and time to finish the repair on our RV. They had to keep the RV overnight and offered for my family to stay in it for the night to save us some money for a hotel stay!! James (the mechanic) was always very accommodating and kept us up to date on the repair. We are from California and these people truly made our stay in San Antonio very welcoming and warm. I must verbalize my extreme satisfaction with Ironhorse RV for getting to the bottom of a problem that I have been working on for so long. I have a 2015 Thor Palazzo 36.2 that since day one the electrical charging system has not worked correctly. The RV had been looked at, and worked on by 3 different repair stations including the dealer, all to no avail. I dropped the RV off at Ironhorse in San Antonio as my last hope. Ironhorse worked on it working with Thor Motor Coach, they found all the know problems, and a few more. On Friday I returned to Ironhorse, tested all parts know to have problems and all work seems to be done and the charging system is apparently now working correctly. They aim to do a good job and as with any significant project, surprises happen. Reviewers who do not understand that the work ahead of them got delayed by those surprises so starting on their job was also delayed or who complain about a low estimate are not being rational about what it takes to do quality work. Unfortunately after writing the 5 star review I went back in for service and not happy, hit and miss here...

Took my motorhome by to get a replacement windshield motorized shade as mine had the motor go out. Wanted an MCD and saw that Iron Horse was listed on their website as an authorized agent of theirs. I had already done my homework and knew what it entailed. Iron Horse took out my old unit and tried to fix it but said motor was bad. I knew that already, said they needed to special order the new shade and would take a while. I knew that too! I told them I wanted the same style and color as I already had in the coach. Paid a deposit and took my coach home. About a month later I called them to see where the shade was and they checked and told me it was in. Great, made an appointment to bring it in. On appointment day I got up at dawn and drove the 50 miles in and was told I had to wait about 4 hours before they could get to it! So much for keeping appointments. After it was finally installed I settled up and the cost was a lot more than MCD quoted me if I had taken it to them in Dallas, but I paid. Went out and noticed they had installed two new switches to control the two shades. MCD said that wouldn't be necessary but Iron Horse said it wouldn't work without them! Well okay, what about setting the upper and lower limits I asked? Oh, there is no such thing on this model they replied! What, MCD says the windshield model comes standard with that. Okay, well, why isn't there a tail flap on the windshield blackout screen then? Oh, well we didn't order that! What! I wanted what I had before. No luck, it's done. Not friendly, not willing to backup their work, I'm out $1800 and didn't get what I ordered. Never again, not another dime with these people! read more

Do not under any circumstances take your rig here for repair! Due to their negligence and incompetence they have ruined two vacations for us! We dropped our new pusher off for over a month for some minor warranty items. Everything cosmetic was great, but the really important items like mechanical a big fat F! On the list of things they where to check was all fluid levels. Low and behold, we lower the leveling jacks and later can not retract them. In addition two of the three slides are not functioning. Oops, they forget to check the hydraulic fluid as they where supposed to and the motor burned out. They initially claimed responsibility and had a mechanic come out so we could manually raise the jacks, but then backpedaled. So another place replaces the motor. It's now an month later and we have our rig back and where on our way today to Mustang Island and warning lights start coming on 30 miles down the road .Sure enough the engine temp is beyond red and we pull over and radiator fluid is gushing! One of the items on the list was loose attachment of the radiator hose. My husband does further inspection and low and behold it has become completely unattached. They never tightened it! Try explaining to a 3 yr old that the motorhome is "broken" and we can no longer go to the beach! The look on their face is enough to break your heart. I realize things happen, but both of these could have been prevented had they done what they where paid to do! You have been warned! read more

THIEVES, LIARS, AND BAD WORKMANSHIP...POMPOUS AND ARROGANT TO BOOT! We had a water leak which resulted in the decking under the linoleum in the back of our 33 foot trailer to be water logged and moldy. We had insurance and the quote to remove the effected decking along with the built in storage, seating, and shelving and to replace that area along with linoleum throughout the trailer was around $3,000.00. They were also supposed to find the source of the leak and repair it. They were paid up front and when they said that the trailer was ready, I pulled out my own cordless drill to open up the areas that they had closed back up (so that we could not see it) under the seats to discover that none of the mold infested wood had been replaced..it was still black and fuzzy as the day that we delivered the trailer to them months before. In response to my complaint, they said they would just paint over it will Kilz, then they demanded additional payment to complete the work (which they did twice). All in all, I had to return to them four more times to have them "finish" the work on each occasion which they originally quoted as $3,000.00...my insurance company ended up paying out nearly $10,000.00 to have them complete the job. When it was "ready," the seats wobbled, they failed to remove the linoleum from original source of the mold, and we still had a leak (this was evident as it was raining on the day that I went to pick it up - this was after they had "tested" their repairs by spraying the top and sides of the trailer with a water hose for 45 minutes (or so they said)). After more than three months in their care and $10,000.00 paid to them, the owner/manager finally "fixed" the leak by climbing on a 6 foot ladder and placing caulk along the side of the rain gutter with his index finger...the square area being less than an inch. It was laughable. We gave up, went home, and my wife and I "fixed" the leak by adding a slide topper over that slide where the leak was suspected to be. The contact person whom I had dealt with was so embarrassed by the owner/manager's actions, he could not look at me when I came on that last occasion to remove the trailer from their lot. I was floored by their lack of competence and professionalism. I was treated as an imbecile and by the time they finished with our trailer, I found out that they were correct...we paid $10,000.00 to them to fix a leak which was repaired in 30 seconds with a dab of caulking. I read about Iron Horse on one of my favorite RV blogs and thought I would give them a try. I had purchased an older motor home and asked Iron Horse to give it a full inspection which cost $600 and a full wash and wax well over $500. They also replaced a slide topper and some other minor things. They first called to tell me my motorhome was ready and when I went to pick it up it had not even been washed and waxed. After that was corrected Iron Horse did a poor job of reviewing the inspection results. We accepted it any way just to find out that the water heater had a severe leak. Took it back to them and they installed a new water heater. Works fine but we found out later they charged us double. The water heater unit was over $900 not counting the labor. Also we discovered our leveling system storage function was not operational, the toliet leaks and the generator is not working right. I have to ask myself why in the blank blank blank I paid $600 for an inspection. read more

don't ever take your RV to the iron horse for an oil and filter change !! my son came in to town and I recommended the iron horse because it was close to the house !! I have done hundreds of oil changes in my life time and I know what the parts and labor consist of !! they charged him 200.00 dollars !! never ever again !! read more
