They r nice! Food is good. But prices high and portions way too small. Prices have gone up and pay has gone up But elderly and disabled. I'm not elderly but disabled single grandma and I can not go out to eat. I tbink places should have elderly disabled menu like a menu for kids which they don't hav I don't think. Our checks disability and social security didn't go up enough to survive. Can't enjoy a good meal which isn't this places fault. Like I said they r all nice portions just small and high price. The best fried fish in Covington. The fish is always hot and delicious. I always get the fried catfish. The hushpuppy and the side dish are good as well. Anytime I go, whether drive-thru or walk to the window, they are always pleasant and have a smile on their faces. One of my number-one spots in Covington. I tell everyone about Walden's. This place is to big to be called a hole in the wall. But it has all the qualities. Great food, great people and not in the middle of all the daily hustle and bustle. We arrived late on a Saturday afternoon. They have a drive through and places to eat there.We ordered at the outside window. It was undercover and there was overhead heaters for cool days. There is plenty of outside seating. They also have a large unattached dining room that is quiet clean and neat. We ordered 2 catfish filet dinners. With potato salad, cheese grits, fried okra, and tea. Everything was hot and cooked perfect. Portions were filling. Cast was $34. read more

I've previously visited Walden's for their buttery though somewhat tepid Hot Wings. And I noticed after ordering they also offer Barbecue. It was hidden at the bottom of the menu among the more mundane hot dogs and hamburgers. Anyway, I've since returned for their Pulled Pork Sandwich and though a little on the sweet side it's darn good as was their Brunswick Stew. We waited in the drive thru for nearly thirty minutes. The girl at the window informed me that if I had to pay extra for each sauce--so I did, but though I had asked for extra ketchup, I got none--do you have to pay for that too? Great food at reasonable prices. I love their catfish and their potato salad is the bomb (just wish it was a larger serving)!!! They are doing a great job for a small business. First trip to Walden's tonight. First off, if you are a fan of cheese grits as a side, order two! They're awesome. I also had a side of Okra which was as good as momma made. The catfish was cooked properly but under seasoned. A bit on the small side as well. Two filets were about the size of one compared to other restaurants. Similar review for the chicken fingers. The staff was friendly and courteous. Service is a bit slow considering the limited menu. Loved sitting outside at the family style picnic tables. Parking is an issue. Additional areas to park are available but need a sign indicating such at the main entrance. Observed several cars turn around and leave after not seeing a parking space. I love this place! I used to eat at Henderson's because it was the only place to get catfish, that was good. This place has wonderful food that is always hot and not greasy! It is always crowed, but don't let that stop you from visiting. It is worth the wait. My favorite is the 4 piece catfish fillet with fries, coleslaw and a drink. When they first opened I tried them because I love catfish, and it is hard to get whole catfish in the area. I was disappointed the first time and said I was not going back. However, everyone deserves a second chance, and I'm glad I gave them one. The customer services was good and they informed me of the wait time on the whole catfish. My catfish was fried perfectly and the potato salad was good; a long with the fried okra. I do wish their sides were a little bigger. I also think they could work on their tartar sauce. Wait can be very long from time to time; We've waited 30-45 minutes before. I also wish they had a few healthier side options as carb upon carb can be a bit much. My first visit to Walden's was a delightful experience. I had the pleasure of popping in my mouth the most delicious hugh puppy I have ever eaten: delicately crunchy on the outside, with a tender and slightly sweet center. It was perfectly fried yet not at all greasy. The catfish filet had the same delicate crust. It was fresh and light. I can't wait to return for dinner when whole fried catfish is available. The cheese grits were creamy, perfectly seasoned, and a perfect side offering with catfish filet. The brunswick stew was a magical balance of tomato-y acidity and sweet, smoky pork, with plump crunchy yellow corn lending just the right bit of texture. I must not fail to mention the dessert: chocolate delight! The graham and pecan crust was fresh and crisp, and the pudding and cream toppings were silky and sweet. When I return--and it will be soon!--I am eager to try the fries, chicken wings, and whole catfish. The cherry on top?
