We had a wonderful morning trail ride on our most recent Maui trip. The ranch is really convenient to the Lahaina & Kaanapali area but the minute you get up to the gates, you feel that you're in another world. It's lush and really peaceful at the ranch and on the trails. Our guide Liloa was really fun and interesting - he's a real character and had a lot of fun info about the islands and the ranch. He was especially kind and helpful when my daughter got a bit nauseous toward the end of our ride. There were beautiful views of Lanai and Molokai from the trails and we made great memories here.

Beautiful ranch and the love they put in there horses shows. We had such a beautiful ride through the hills in Napili. Cooper and her husband made us feel so comfortable at the ranch and the horses. Looking forward to going back someday. This place is a gem!

I would give this place a 5 star review because everyone was super nice and helpful. When we were riding the guy in the front would stop when ever someone needed something or needed to stop. Also the lady in the back was also very helpful and friendly, whenever it seemed like someone needed help she would give all of the answers. I love the place -Leila, 9 years old

Why hike in the mountains of Maui when you could horseback ride? Ironwood Ranch is a lovely place with sweet horses, well maintained trails and dedicated staff. Our guide, Liloa was a wealth of knowledge about the land and history of Hawaii. He took us to a wonderful view of the ocean too. It was a great experience!

Had a great time on our ride with Tara and Gigi. They were both wonderful people and guides. It was a little windy that day, and to ensure we had a pleasant ride with the horses under control, they walked the entire ride with us rather than ride on their own horses. They also picked us a pineapple and guava that we saw on our ride. Shared with us a lot of information about the land and the horses. You can tell both ladies care a lot about their horses and the horses are well cared for. Tara also does private riding lessons and would try that next time. Great communication from Tara on the day before our ride. Gave us detailed directions on how to get to the ranch. Route is well marked with signs leading to their ranch. Overall, a pleasant ride and experience with 2 great guides!

We loved our guide Tara! She took pictures of us during the entire ride and text them to us after. The view is beautiful and the horses we gentle. I would ride here again! The ranch has fruit trees. We were able to take a few oranges, lemons and avocados.

We went on the sunset ride for our honeymoon on Saturday evening... I'm really torn with how to rate and write this review... So! Me - I'm not a huge rider, I took riding lessons in college for a few months, but have forgotten nearly everything. My husband is an expert rider and was in the British Household Cavalry for 7 years. As you can see - two totally different levels of riding. Upon arrival, you have to read and sign a contract that will scare the living daylights out of you. Yes, contracts are meant to provide you with all the necessary warnings and to 'scare' you, but this one made me want to hop back in the Jeep and drive away. After that, you receive a little booklet to read about some riding tips and do's and don'ts. We were told that our ride was only going to be 90 minutes instead of the 2 hours due to the rain the day before, but that we would be refunded the extra part of the ride. That was nice. So - for the preparation of the ride - yeah - nothing much to say. Gina called off a few horse names (named after celebrities) and paired the riders up. I rode Mike Meyers and my husband had Brad Pitt. There were 8 of us on the ride, so the group was split - four individuals with Alexis and four individuals with Caitlin. We were with Caitlin's group. The ride starts on the early side - we were on top of the horse at about 4:30. With only an hour and a half ride, that meant that we were already back at the ranch before the sun had set. :-/ Not quite what I thought it was going to be. I thought we were going to see the sunset whilst on horseback. The ride itself was OK - we were the third and fourth people on the ride, so our guide spent 90% of the trip chatting with the first girl who was right behind her. A bit annoying on our part but hey- what can you do. The guide was helpful in that she pointed out things and provided history along the ride. Learned a lot of neat stuff about certain plants, flowers, etc. She also stopped to take our pictures at the pretty part of the ride, so we've got some cute photos of us atop horse. I'm honestly thankful the ride was cut down to 90 minutes. We got a bit bored... :-/ It was pretty much the same thing, over and over. My husband would have preferred to ride faster, obviously, but that wasn't possible, as everyone else was a beginner (myself included, remember!) Yes, you do ride along a small cliff, but I didn't feel frightened or anything... All in all, it was OK. As one other person mentioned - as a complete horse lover - my husband was also appalled at the horses' living conditions. There weren't any mats and things looked a bit barren. Considering the money that we paid ($250/2 people, including taxes), we expected to see them a bit better taken care of.

Really great location. Drive up is dirt but it is groomed well, so not a bad drive for average rental car. Ranch is nice. Very green and lush. You are pretty high up so it's a whole new climate. Very great day! Bring sunnies and sun block. You can not have backpacks or purses on the ride so just bring what's on their list. Horses are really great. They all look well taken care of there. The guides really care for these animals and it shows. Guides were very nice and made sure we were doing good the whole time. We were told positive when we were doing good. If they say something quick and stern it's for your own good. We really had a great time and appreciated everything. Thank you ladies! ***On our way back to the main roads on our drive back. My wife and I spotted a golden retriever that looked hot and out of place. We stopped and gave it water and noticed no collar. We called the ranch and they came down and took the dog with them to take care out it. Real animal loving people! We called several days later to find out they found the owners a few ranches over or something.

We had an absolute amazing time at Ironwood Ranch. They treated us like we were family. I have never ridden a horse before (outside of pony rides as a kid), so I was a bit nervous. The guide put me on Bruno Mars, a very calm and sweet natured horse. He went at a slow steady pace and virtually followed the horses in front of him. The guide checked in with us often to make sure we were doing well and also shared lots of cool facts with us. The views were absolutely stunning! After the ride, we were offered beverages and were able to take some fruit from their trees. I will definitely be coming back here again! Such an amazing time!

He was knowledgeable about the entire pineapple-growing process. Not to mention made us laugh We learned so much about how pineapples are planted, grown, and harvested. It was fascinating to hear about the life cycle of a pineapple, the care that goes into growing them, and what makes Maui Gold pineapples so unique and sweet. Of course, the star of the show was the pineapple itself. It was hands down the sweetest, juiciest, and most delicious pineapple I've ever tasted. After trying one, it's hard to go back to grocery store pineapple! The gift shop was also wonderful, with lots of cute souvenirs, gifts, and pineapple-themed items to browse. If you're visiting Maui, I highly recommend adding the Maui Gold Pineapple Tour to your itinerary.

I recommend this tour. We booked it at the beginning of our trip in case it needed to be canceled…read moredue to weather, which would have given us time to reschedule. Thankfully, the weather cooperated! Be sure to wear closed-toe shoes. There's quite a bit of walking through the fields, and the ground can be uneven and dusty. My socks were covered in dirt afterward, so I definitely wouldn't recommend flip-flops. Small carton boxes of water (like school lunch sized milk cartons) were provided on the tour bus, which was appreciated, but I'd still recommend bringing your own water as well, especially if it's a warm day. Our guide was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of interesting information about pineapple farming. It's so labor intensive!! However, he spoke extremely fast, which made it difficult to follow at times. I wish he had slowed down a bit. During the tour, we sampled pineapples at different stages of ripeness, and at the end each group receives a boxed pineapple package to take home. Since there were two of us, we were given a pre-packaged box for two people. We assumed we'd be getting two pineapples similar to the ones we tasted during the tour, but when we opened the box back at our hotel, we found three very small pineapples instead. The box itself made it look like the fruit would be larger. We learned on the tour that pineapples do not continue ripening after they're harvested, so what you get is what you get in terms of sweetness. We kept 2 for ourselves and gifted the 3rd away. Unfortunately, the 2 we cut open were bland, barely sweet which was disappointing. A grocery store pineapple would've been sweeter I think. Idk if the one we gifted away was sweet or not. I hope it was b/c that'd be embarrassing considering it had the "Maui Gold" tag on the crown. One area that could use improvement is the guide's professionalism. At times, he shared stories about previous guests in a way that felt like he was making fun of questions they had asked. Hubby agreed. It left me wondering whether future tour groups would hear stories about us as well. He also shared a story about jokingly telling a guest or a group that he was gay, and then he was like, just kidding! While it may have been intended as humor, it didn't sit well with me. It felt unnecessary and in poor taste, especially considering there could have been LGBTQ+ guests on our tour. Overall, the tour was informative and enjoyable, and I appreciated the opportunity to learn more about pineapple farming. A slower-paced presentation and a more professional approach from the guide would have made the experience even better.

Kellen's vehicle was a very clean and comfortable newer Jeep Wagoneer. My wife, Kari, broke her foot 2 days ago so we modified our excursions and eliminated hiking to attractions. Kellen's knowledge of the area, the plants, the trees, and the sights were full of insight and knowledge that only a local would have! We throughly enjoyed it. His driving was superb, professional, and cautious (complete with short horn honks on the countless 1 lane blind turns). We enjoyed the small independent farms, stands, and choices for lunch too. As a side note, Kellen's personal relationship with those owners opened the door to Kari being able to use a non-public restroom. We truly appreciated your assistance helping Kari to the lookouts, negotiating the roadsides, and especially to the swim under a waterfall (Kellen knew the easiest to access and really made getting to it possible for Kari). We stopped by Boss Frog's in Napili and ended up working with Victoria, who completely made our Maui experience better. Super friendly from the first minute, but what really stood out was how knowledgeable she was about the island--not just the usual "tourist stuff," but real local insight. She helped us get everything set up for a snorkeling day with our 5-year-old (which is not always easy). Took the time to properly fit all the gear, made sure our kid was comfortable and confident, and explained everything in a way that actually made us feel relaxed about it. No rushing, no pressure--just genuinely trying to make sure we had a great time. What impressed me most was how much she went above and beyond. She helped us organize pretty much the whole day--snorkeling, a submarine trip, even gave us great lunch and shopping recommendations. And this wasn't in a "salesy" way at all. In fact, some of the best tips she gave had nothing to do with buying anything from them. She also did exactly what she said she would--followed up, communicated clearly, and everything was on time and as promised. That kind of reliability is underrated, especially when you're on vacation with a kid. You can tell she genuinely loves what she does and wants people to have a great experience. It never felt pushy or transactional, which is honestly rare these days. If you're in Maui, go to the Napili location and hope you get lucky enough to work with Victoria.
