I purchased a new Acura RDX from Island Acura I took it in for service 8 months later I was told my vehicle will be done in 2 hours I was at the service department at 7:30 am ! I called at 11:00 they told me it was being worked on . I called at 3:00 same response it's being worked on I finally got suspicious so I took a ride to the Service department my car was actually in the parking lot. It was never been worked on when I got there. A gentleman came out and told me to take a walk with him to the parking lot and they would bring my car in to be serviced. It was now 430. Service review only. Needed to take my car in for ( a second time) service for some known issues Acura was having with my model. Called to inquire about a loaner since I do not live nearby and the wait was about a month. Instead I made an appointment and dropped off the car. I pulled in and was quickly helped by Chad. I explained what the issues were (squeaky brakes, etc.) and Chad was aware of them. There were technical service bulletins from the manufacturer regarding my issues. About 3:30pm, I text for a status of my car. Chad then calls me and explains they need to keep the car overnight because it's a big job. They likely catered to paying customers, not issues covered under warranty, like mine. Chad stated that the car would be ready in the afternoon the next day.. After I explained, I need the car earlier for work, he said I could talk to a manager. That would be useless. About 5pm the same day, Chad called me again and told me my vehicle would be ready earlier than expected (in the morning rather than the afternoon) and it was. Picking up the car was a breeze. Service was fine so long as you don't need a loaner and you are able to possibly be without a car for some time. read more

I don't know where to begin. First I think the service advisors should have some mechanical background, experience or schooling. Took the car in for the fuel pump recall and noise coming from the high pressure fuel pump. They did the recall and said everything was good, noise is gone... I go and and start the car the high pressure fuel pump is making the same noise. I leave the car for them to diagnose the problem after I pinpointed the problem from the time I dropped the car off but I don't work for Acura so i don't know what I'm talking about. I then get a call saying I have an exhaust leak my rear resonator is leaking. Which is a lie I have no exhaust leak no hole in my resonator. So I took my car and made an appointment at Bayshore Acura. Got the high pressure fuel pump taken care of. They even checked for a mystery exhaust Leak Danny at island Acura stated I had. Misdiagnosed and i asked Danny if I pay to change the $1800 mid pipe and that doesn't fix the noise what happens next? I got an answer of "I don't know" what kind of service is that? Definitely not 5 star! Everytime I took my car to Island Acura I always had to bring it back. This last visit made it official I will NEVER go to Island Acura ever again. BEWARE...Came in for an oil change and to check a tire...was told at the desk that I was due for an alignment...agreed...After an hour was approached to sign off on work amounting to over $700.00 Thought high and to my mistake should have looked closely at the items because at their discretion decided that I needed REAR DIFFERENTIAL SERVICE ...$200+ item! When I got home and got to look over bill closer, it states that CUSTOMER REQUESTED...I never requested. ...don't even know what REAR DIFFERENTIAL SERVICE is...The final analysis is I never requested it but I did sign off on it so basically the burden is on me ...Service manager suggested a credit ...and conceded to a refund...since a credit would be nothing....never plan to go back...and for them includes never another purchase in the future. read more

I have a MDX which is under warranty , I brought the car to the dealership, they told this is not under warranty and not is not covered, finally they the repairs after 3 days. A week later same issue the service advisor, tells me they did what they had too. They would diagnose the problem but might have to pay vehicle only has powertrain warranty as it's not in there computer, also mentioned that I have Acura Care. But insisted that nothing shows in there system. I called Acura customer service, they told talk to the service manager, spoke the advisor told me he is busy call me in 15 mins. 4 hours no call. I have two Acura (TL and MDX) where they are always serviced there. I had a great experience purchasing the vehicles after some on the "extras" like mud flaps, roof rack (MDX) because the extras are not included. However, their service dept really makes this place special and separate from other dealerships like Mercedes, Lexis, Audi and BMW where I have had these cars in the past to include Jeep ( I still own). In particular Joseph who always takes care of me and tells me what is needed and what I don't. He loves his job and it shows. I even get a free car wash or voucher when I leave. I highly recommend their vehicles as I these cars last significantly longer in miles and this service dept. keeps these 2 vehicles running without a problem. This review is about the service department. My 2018 MDX has two service lights suddenly go on. Instead of going to my dealer where it was leased I decided to drop the car here at Island Acura so I can take the train from Wantagh right to work. The car was dropped off Monday morning. No problem checking it in. I was told I would be called later in the day to update me on the status. Robert call me at 4:00 pm to say that he was sorry but they didn't have the opportunity to look at the car. They were very busy and down 2 "A" technicians. He asked if it would be ok to leave the car for another day. I said no problem. Tuesday I called at 12:00 left a message for Robert. He never called me back so I called at 2:00 and spoke with Robert. He said that he was waiting for Acura to call his technician back but that the car wouldn't be ready. I asked if someone even looked at the car. His response? Uhh, yeah, we started to, but got really busy. To me that translates to NO. I told him I needed the car and will have to pick it up and bring it back on Thursday. When I picked the car up Tuesday evening, I asked him if someone really looked at it. His response again was "we started to". Hmmmm, I smell bullshit. I got the key and asked him where the car was. He said "I asked they to bring it around, it's right in the side" Well, no one brought the car around and IT WAS STILL IN THE SAME SPOT I PARKED IT with the steering wheel in the same position.! No protective covers on the floor or seats. In other words I was right ...Robert was bull shitting. I left with the car and didn't even bother confronting Robert about his BS. The car was brought to my regular dealer in Bay Shore on Thursday night. They called by 11:30 am Friday morning to say the car was done. It was a just a clogged hose and that it passed all the tests! Robert - a CLOGGED FRIGGIN HOSE. No need for Acura to call back. Your BS was busted. Nice try Robert. Don't try and BS people. You always get caught! BUYER BEWARE. I was looking for a Certified Acura and found one at this dealership. I was given a 'great price' and bought the vehicle. When I got home, I checked the dealerships online price,. My 'great price' was only $8 less than the advised price. I cancelled the purchase, but realized I really wanted that car and called them to say I have changed my mind. When I went to pick the vehicle a few days later, I saw that the new Purchase Agreement increased the cost of the vehicle by $404. When I asked to see a copy of the original Purchase Agreement. Joe, the financial mgr, said they do not keep Purchase Agreements if a sale was cancelled. I am furious. After visiting the dealership several times, they had refunded me $260, and then $60, which left a balance of $77. It's not a lot of money, but why did I have to spend more than my original purchase price. I am a 74 year old widow and went to the dealership alone, and, as you can see, I was taken advantage of. My first leasing experience and it was wonderful. Everyone in the dealership is very nice and informative about their different products. My sales man was Bobby and I love him ! I've financed two cars in the past at different dealerships but was never treated with respect until I came here. Bobby didn't make me feel like I was just another sale and did his best to get me in a car although my credit wasn't the best at the moment. I can't wait to go back in three years to get my next Acura here. I would differently recommend everyone to come here. As well the finance coordinator Jim he wasn't as bad as the reviews, he did offer a lot of add ons but that's part of his job. I am so disappointed by the response of the team at island Acura once i purchased my Acura. Customer service was amazing while in the buying process (of course it was) but afterwards, i cannot even get anyone on the phone. I feel like i was "tricked" into buying this portfolio package that allows you to get any dings and scratches fixed on you car once every 6 months for an additional monthly fee. The finance guy, Joe made it seem like it was so easy and all i had to do was make an appointment and bring it into service. Well, second week of having the car i got a huge ding. Called the service department and was told its an outside vendor and i have to call them and make an appointment for them to come to my house. 1. That was not what i was told when the product was explained to me. I call the portfolio company and it took them multiple searches to even find my account. Once they did, they told me that they don't examine the car for scratches and dings and only fix that one spot. I was then asked for the approximate length, thickness and dept of the scratches.. I have clue, nor am i an expert on scratches. I told them i didnt know and they told me once i did to call them back. 6 months into having the car i call service again, same answer. I physically go into the dealership to speak with the finance manager who sold me the car and he tells me that the service department is wrong and that i should call him the next time i need an oil change and he will set up everything for me. Of course, made an excuse why he couldn't set something up for me then and there. Feb 2020 rolls around and i need an oil change. I call his direct line, leave a VM and no answer. I really needed once so just went in myself and got the oil change. Then COVID happened, which i completely understand. It is now September 2020 almost a year and half from the time i purchased the car. I emailed Joe, Left and VM for Joe. Called the dealership amd tried to speak to manager where i was immediately given to his VM. Left ANOTHER message. Its been a week and not one peep back. I have been paying for something i cannot use. I cannot get in touch with anyone and am again, being forced to go back to the dealership so that someone will at least speak with me. Came into Island Acura to look at a 2018 Lexus IS 300 that someone traded in they had for sale on their website, the only Lexus on the lot and not even an Acura product. Got an unbelievable price on it for the year and mileage! The sales Rep Rocky and customer service rep Drew were excellent! They even brought me to drop off my rental around the corner to save me another 10 hour roundtrip drive back down to Long Island and Joe did the financing for me very quickly. BEST DEALER EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD PERSONALLY and I have had quite few. I wasn't pestered for extended warranties and extra garbage I didnt want, car price with tax and tags...THATS IT! They raised the price therefore making me pay regular price even with the coupon. I had several coupons and she advised me which one was the best, what a lie!! At the end of my service when it was time to pay, she whispered "with the coupon you still end up paying the same price ". BAAAD BUSINESS!!!!!! If I could give the service department 0 starts I would. I got my 2018 ilx in the middle of October. In November the gas gauge kept moving up and down so I brought it in to be looked at. The service team are by far the RUDEST people I have ever met. They tried blaming me saying I did something to the car. I tried explaining this car is not even 30 days old and I'm having issues with it this needs to be resolved. They have me sit in the waiting room for 2 hours to tell me they didn't have time to look at my car... even tho you can see the service techs threw the window all standing around and doing nothing. I bring my car back a week later for them to tell me i will have to wait 2/3 hours because the techs are going to lunch... They then told me my car has a bad gas tank and it needs to be replaced. Okay no big deal things happen with cars. They tell me it's on National bad order, because it's happening to a lot of the cars. Red flag shouldn't that be a recall then? They told me they weren't sure when it would come in but they ordered and they will call me as soon as it gets in. They never called me. I've been driving around in a brand new car having to watch how much gas I have on my mileage reader. I call today to check on the order since it's been two months. The lady on the phone them received them a while ago and they didn't have me on the list... Do yourself a favor and go to the Acura in Bay Shore. The people who work in the service department at the Bay Shore location are super sweet and they take care of you. Just on the service department alone, I would suggest everyone to stay as far away as they can from this entire dealership! read more

Awful!! Nobody has any idea what they are doing. Ask 7 different people questions about your car you get 7 different answers. They don't even know when you should have a oil change on your car. I asked them to put a screw in the front to fix a loose piece. They told me if they have a screw. And they didn't even fix it I guess they didn't have a screw. They lie and are clueless. Love these guys! My husband and I have been Acura owners for many years. Love Acura cars but I was really annoyed when I put a delicate neckace on the niche in front of my GPS screen because I needed a friend ( who lives a few minutes away) I was picking up to put it on me. I was shocked to see it missing until I noticed there was a decent size gap between the screen and the plastic and my necklace fell into the crack. Annoying!! I brought in my car late on Friday to the service dept. Bryan at the desk promised they would do the best they could in the service department. After about 15 minutes he bright me the bad news they took the top panel and both side panels off. No luck. No necklace. I asked if I could go back into the service garage to tell them what the necklace looked like. I found a two guys down on the front floor of my car on both sides still really looking. Not giving up yet. A few other guys saying they tried but no luck. They let me look since I knew what to look for. Supplied me with a flashlight. I was sick about the necklace which was a special gift. Finally I saw a glimmer of the delicate chain. Took a while to lodge it out with their help. They were so nice and actually gave a crap about my necklace. Without these specify guys I would not have my necklace. Really!! They were really happy. Me. Acura Island. Forever! These people are practically mobsters! I'm from Fl but living in NY for a little while. I went to this dealership to buy a car and after we agreed on a price I go home to do more research before signing papers the next day. I find out their computers and MSRP price is not even legit and they're making 5-6k on the car and also my trade. I showed them the auction prices on my acura and what they're willing to give me which was about 2k less. This guy Peter, a manager or something yelled at me saying I reneged on the deal and that I can leave if I'm not happy. He was trying to intimated me like a monster and making me feel bad for not "being happy" as he called it. I even asked for a buyers order to compare prices and he wouldn't give me that. Just purchased the car (pre owned) and they assessed it in about 10 minutes, said they will order the part and I can take my car home and will replace it whatever weekday works for me.
