I haven't stopped thinking about the Southerly since our vacation in CB ended. Sis and I suddenly had a taste for Key Lime pie. We're close enough to Florida, surely SOMEBODY had to serve a decent KLP?! Quick Google search led me to the Southerly, which incidentally was very close to the park we were currently at. I called to see if they made them and the guy said they DO but were sold out for the day. I wasn't surprised, as I called right before they closed. I asked if I could reserve one for the next day- easy as pie, right? He was so friendly and accommodating, I probably would have gone in even if he said no pies tomorrow. Just a super warm, kind person. The Southerly is known for their biscuits, so when we went in the next day we got biscuits, sandwiches, and the pie. The biscuits are out of this world. I've never had a biscuit this good before. Tender, flaky, with a few crispy parts. The flavor was heavenly. The sandwiches were very good, I wish I had been able to try more. I even took a plain biscuits home to eat later and they're fantastic even without butter or jam. Absolute perfection. The Key lime pie was good. We didn't eat it until later that night. The crust was a little dry and crumbly. The filling was decadent, perfect, key limey in every way. I couldn't recommend this place more. Everyone was so nice, it's a great local spot. I was so happy with all the food that we ordered for our breakfast! The plan was to eat at beach during the kite festival and the food was even better later, especially since we got the breakfast tots with all the fixings on it. My wife and I stopped for breakfast at Southerly Biscuits on 20SEP2025 on the way home from the beach. My wife had a bacon biscuit, which she said had too much biscuit, but said the bacon was very good. My mother-in-law makes very thin Southern biscuits, which my wife prefers and I also enjoy. I had the biscuit with pimento cheese and it was wonderful with all the melted pimento cheese, which kept me full until we had a late lunch at home. If I am in town again, I will get a biscuit for me only and enjoy it. Service was fast,. people were very nice, and the biscuits are hearty! Yum! read more

The biscuit was ginormous, fluffy, moist (sorry), and buttery. The chicken was well seasoned, tender, and topped with that hot honey sauce was chef's kiss. Been coming down to Carolina Beach for years & somehow only discovered this place last year. I just got back from another trip & enjoyed a couple of stops at the Southerly. The door to this place never stops opening. Just wave after wave of customers. The staff is so friendly. Their biscuits are gigantic & the real deal. Amazing value for your $ here. Truly sandwich size biscuits. Do not plan on eating for a while after one of them. A $6 sandwich will have you stuffed for the rest of the day. I usually get the sausage egg & cheddar but the country ham, bacon & fried chicken are also good. I love how they scorch the top of the biscuits for a nice crunchy top. I took home a few $2 plain biscuits to freeze which held up well & made for good homemade sandwiches. Don't forget to snag a Crack Pie if they have them. Reminds me a lot of the Shoofly Pies I get up in Amish Country. read more

The biscuits are also very good - 9 out of 10 (with my great grandma's biscuits being the perfect ones in my eyes - these are close!). My husband had a sausage, egg, and cheese. I had egg and cheese. We also took home two mini pies. The mixed berry had a very cobbler like consistency. The apple crumble had more of a traditional apple pie texture. The tater tots were nothing special but not a bad add-on for $2. I was very full after this meal. This shop is very small and they have no seating inside. I pulled it out and the most amazing aroma wafted out of it. I didn't even take a photo, I just dug into it immediately. It was the size of a hamburger. Golden peaks and valleys of biscuit glistened with butter. With every bite, hot melty cheese dripped everywhere. It was AMAZING. If you are going to eat something as wildly unhealthy as a biscuit, this is the one you should eat. I promise you, the 15mn wait is well worth it. Five and a half stars! P.
