Island coffee shop was subpar nothing really to brag about. The location is cute in Staten Island. I like the open kitchen where you can see them making your food. The owner decided not to have a sign that says CASH ONLY however he conveniently has an ATM located in the diner. It charges over $3 on top of whatever your bank is charging. Then you're obligated to tip your waitress. So get ready to bring cash or end up paying atm fees on top of tipping. For a diner I would say any diner would do that takes card for payment. read more

The island Coffee shop is amazing!! The service is incredible, the vibes are so cute and the food is delicious. The prices are also incredibly reasonable. I got the French toast with a side of potatoes and it's exactly what I wanted, they gave me so many potatoes and the French toast was delicious. The coffee here is also great. My friend and I have been eating at this establishment for several months because we're locals and we enjoy eating out. This evening my friend noticed the cook sneeze into his gloved hands, then the cook blew his nose but never changed his gloves. The cook then proceeded to stick his finger in his ear multiple times and still didn't change his gloves. When my friend called the waitress over to send back his food and told her what was going on, there was no 'I'm sorry, would you like to speak with the owner' who was standing right there; nothing, just dead silence. We paid our bill and then decided to call and let the owner know what we witnessed, the same waitress, whose voice we recognized, answered the phone and stated that the owner doesn't take calls. Now I know why. Although this place looks nice and clean, I'd stay far away from it, unless you want to get sick. Never going back again. read more

The coffee is hot and strong and the food is consistently ok. It was, in the past, bargain eats but, like anything else, an omelette breakfast with home fries, bacon and toast will set you back $15.00. I stopped in early last Sunday morning on my way home from Staten Island. It's open seating and you can pick a table or the counter. The wait staff is friendly but, the owner is not! Never has been, lol!!! Anyway, like I said, the food is consistently ok. Eggs, potatoes and toast. You really can't jazz it up or screw it up. This is more than just a coffee shop. It's a diner that serves awesome food, and breakfast all day! Once you walk in you are greeted by the hostess and the owner, George. Very pleasant and friendly staff to go along with this establishment. Greek Gyro (or cheeseburger) is my usual go-to meal when I hit up any diner. It's sort of a tradition for me, and this place did not mess up the Gyro I had. It was a nice sized meal, but what made it even more tantalizing was the side of homemade tzaziki sauce. I could not get enough, and they were not cheap with the amount they gave either. All the ingredients looked fresh and colorful. I was very surprised and pleased with my experience here. It looks smaller than it is from the outside, but there is enough seating. One thing is that there is no parking lot, street parking only. Small place with outdated style seating we choose a booth in the back. My husband ordered a coffee with creamer the Waitress in a rush came back with coffee and milk. We ordered our food he ordered a an omelette with spinach cheese and mushrooms, I ordered a chicken gyro wrap. The food comes the waitress brings the picture I posted . I asked this is a wrap? She said no I like this better than. A wrap cause you can use a fork. I stated this is not what O ordered she said again this is what she likes better. I got the lamb gyro which was a huge plate of pita, lamb gyro, and some salad on top with tzatiski and a side of fries. The breakfast special is also really good because you get a lot for the price point-- eggs anyway you want, any bread, sausage and potatoes. I would definitely come back to try that. This is probably my first review of a restaurant. The place was freezing. I ordered just an orange juice and got kicked out for having too small of an order. The place markets itself as a coffee shop, but they don't even have cappuccino. Additionally, the single tables have massive flower pots that block your view of the window, with plant leaves hovering over you. Essentially, it's a diner with rude staff. My family has eaten here many times. The food and service was good, prices are fair, but today my father found a shard of metal in my meal. He bit down on the hard piece of metal, spit it out and found out it was a sharp shard of metal as long as a grain of rice. When we showed it to the waitress, she took away the meal to discuss it with the owner. Upon finishing the rest of the meal we received the bill and discovered that we were still charged full price for the dish with the metal inside it! We brought it up with the waitress telling her it must be a mistake. After discussing it further with the owner of the establishment, she came back with the bill, charging us STILL half price for the meal "because half of it was already eaten". This is a rediculous way to treat a customer who could have been seriously injured and we will not be coming back. read more

Tried ordering avocado toast.. waitress had no idea what it was.. thought I wanted toast made out of avocado and couldn't figure out what to do... My family has been a regular patron of this restaurant and bring friends there regularly. We know them and come all the time. Today, we had a terrible service experience with the hostess today. When we came here for lunch for a group of 5, the restaurant was completely empty and my sister was running late and asked for us to order for her. They refused to seat us until she came and we watched party after party pass us and fill up the establishment. This policy makes no sense, especially because the restaurant was completely empty when we got there.
