We made a quick stop on our way to the beach today. The donuts were honestly my favorite from a local shop. The yeast donut specifically has such good flavor and we're not too sweet! We also got some iced coffees that were very good and self served. They actually had OatMilk which is my wife's favorite, I didn't see stevia but they have raw sugar instead. Definitely coming back earlier in the day next time to have a better selection of donuts. read more

I am an unabashed donut lover. Whenever I travel I try to find unique donut shops - ones that do things the old school way. You can see the old school donuts in the way they are made - shapes are slightly different, cream filled (not unceremoniously plopped on top) , fritters, etc... The trend of new style mechanically/robotically made donuts made elsewhere can go duck themselves. Besides all that, these donuts are downright delicious. Unfortunately I didn't make it here until the end of my trip so only got to try the old fashioned and boston cream. The old fashioned had an exterior that looked perfectly browned which was more soft than I thought they would be (I blame being so close to the ocean - humidity!) the inside was fresh and soft. Boston cream was generously stuffed and so good. Recommendation: Get here before the sunrise (they open early), order some of your favorite donuts, grab a coffee and go up the road to the pier to enjoy an amazingly gorgeous sunrise. Its my favorite time of day - the donuts make it that much better! read more

This is probably a must have when at the beach. The yeast doughnuts are very good, but the filled ones move it up a notch. My raspberry filled doughnut was still warm from the fryer and super soft. Incredible. The cake doughnuts just didn't do it for me, but they might work for you. read more

Thanksgiving morning few options for breakfast. So we walked to island donuts from our hotel. Since I don't do dairy my options were limited. My husband said his bagel with cream cheese were okay. I selected the toast and avocado spread with one easy over egg and bagel seasoning. What a mistake that was! The avocado spread was sour so after carefully eating the egg the rest was tossed. If it wasn't for our plans I would have returned the food and requested a partial refund. Btw the raspberry donut my husband tried had a weird filling that bore no resemblance to a fruit filling at all . I'd suggest only ordering donuts without filling as they cheap out on this part. They are made fresh daily and the combinations are delightful. The Blueberry Lemon Cheesecake and Glazed Maple Bacon are our favorites. Island Donuts also has a variety of fresh bagels, breakfast sandwiches, and coffee drinks. The establishment is very clean with a covered outdoor seating area. We drove up for the weekend to St. Augustine and decided to stop in at this cute island donut shop. From online it looked like they had a large variety of unique flavors and original flavors too. We were heading back home to Orlando and popped in to find sadly a limited number of donuts. The donuts were good, with what we got. But I didn't really appreciate the cashier slight attitude when I mentioned we were out of town and was our first time here. She mentioned that I had to show up basically when it opens to get best picks. Honestly, I didn't like that especially when we came in on a Monday and figured that we would be good. Other then that I think it's a cute place for donuts but come early so you don't leave disappointed. I hate leaving a bad impression on a small business and for others to read, but sadly the attitude really left a bad taste in my mouth. My mother and I drove from Vilano Beach to Anastasia Island to grab donuts here on a Tuesday morning. The shop is quant, but very cute, and the staff is efficient and friendly! You could see them making fresh donuts and restocking them too. It was busy that morning, they open at 6am and are open until sold out. We arrived around 8:30 on a Tuesday morning and it was packed. Seems to be a very popular spot amongst locals as we saw many cops getting donuts that morning! I would recommend going early if you want the best selection. They had a variety of flavors and some unique ones that day! Flavors including KiKat, red velvet, peach filled, berry pop tart, etc. We ended up ordering a dozen along with a pineapple Island Fritter. The fritters are huge! For our dozen we ordered 2 peach filled, 2 key lime filled, 2 Red Velvet Churro, 2 KitKats, 1 glazed red velvet, 2 blueberry lemonade, and 1 glazed old fashioned. They were all cake donuts excluding the filled ones. Never had a red velvet or old fashioned before and was excited to try them. The filled donuts were adequately filled and had good flavor and we were pleased with them. The old fashioned was different from a cake donut, although the glaze was a little too sweet for my liking. The KitKat was actually a red velvet donut with KitKats on top. Was tasty and the KitKats were nice and chocolatey. The red velvet churro didn't have a churro taste at all. It was a red velvet donut with cocoa pebbles on top, don't see where the churro aspect is. It was still good, but nothing about it had a churro flavor.The blueberry lemonade donuts were really good. The blueberry cake was flavorful and the lemon added a nice tang to compliment the sweetness of the cake donut. However the island fritter was by far the best out of all of them. This was a really good fritter with large chunks of pineapple. The island fritter is quite unique and I would definitely order one while stopping by. The cake donuts are really good, different from Duck Donuts, not as heavy, but not as moist. The filled donuts were more filled than those from either Krispy Kreme or Dunkin. If you want to try some unique donuts or an island fritter I would recommend trying Island Donuts. But honestly, Krispy Kreme would be just as satisfying. Glad we tried them while staying in St. Augustine! read more

It was crowded on a Sunday morning when we got there. But the line moved quickly. Husband and I had two small coffees and two donuts which totaled over $12. Pretty pricey in my opinion, but they were very good; light and fluffy glazed donuts. However, I have a problem with all their waste. Does anyone recycle in this city? My new favorite for doughnuts. In Jax, the Donut Shoppe is still top but if Island Donuts had a closer location then I know where I would go. I had a chocolate iced and glazed blueberry. My boyfriend had strawberry w/chocolate, a glazed old-fashioned, and a egg/bacon croissant sandwich. Service was fast and the place is super cute. We stopped here before going on a hike (balance). He loved his and mine were gone pretty fast. I think the picture I took has a bite taken out of one of the doughnuts already. There's a little covered sitting patio off to the side that was amazing with the breeze. These remind me of doughnuts you get up North near all the Amish and Mennonite populations (I know this is oddly specific). It took me so long to make it out there, but i'll be there again soon.
