Food is good and cashier is always friendly. However, ive stood there many times for minutes, without anyone acknowledging I'm there. The staff seemed to be on break and would Just look at me standing at the counter and keep talking amongst themselves. Eventually someone comes up to ask what I would like. It appears to be the least motivated staff, as the only one who talks or even smiles is the cashier. Kinda painful to watch as I work in hospitality myself. I came here during the lunch rush and waited a decent amount of time for my food. I ordered the $5 combo with Kalua pork. When I got my order, I noticed they gave me the wrong drink. I was just thinking maybe they have a cool green colored fruit punch. It was Mountain Dew, which I'm not a fan of, but I was in a hurry to get back to work so I didn't worry about a drink. When I got to the break room at work, I saw the receipt and it was the wrong order completely. I was #43 and they gave me order #44 which was Pupu chicken. It was my first time here and I heard a customer saying he always orders the Pupu chicken so I wasn't going to complain. I'm the guy who shows up to the party if you say free food. Despite getting the wrong order, I was very satisfied with my food. The chicken was great, the macaroni salad is better than your family's macaroni salad at every summer BBQ. It was super good. Best place in St George for a quick lunch or dinner. Pupu chicken is the best! Simple Mac salad and good textured rice. Run my a Polynesian family and their children. You can order take out, pick up, or dine in. I believe they also hire children within the Polynesian community in order to keep them doing something productive. Great and authentic place. read more

Went here for the first time a few days ago and boy, I fell in love with the pupu chicken. It was nice and crispy and omg I was in heaven.. It was so good, I talked about it all day to the rest of my siblings also from out of town. So the next day we all go there and I wasn't too fond of my pupu chicken this time, I mean, the flavors were there but the chicken in my plate didn't have crisp to it like the day before and some pieces were hard and the skin soggy.. At least my siblings chicken were all good. I should've ordered before them lol. Anyhow, I won't base my review on this, cuz I loved it the day before. Also, I don't know if there's room in the back where the employees can hang around instead of being all huddled up sitting there facing you ordering. Doesn't look professional at all, just saying. But I must say they seem friendly, as I only spoke to the cashier who was friendly and greeted us as we were about to order. All in all, BEST PUPU CHICKEN I've had.. if i could give a 10 star rating i would. me and my boyfriend absolutely LOVE island grinds. the staff are so sweet, and they make the place such a nice environment to be in. we eat at island grinds at least 2 times a month and the sweet gal that is always takes orders already knows what we order and says "just your guys regular today?" so so sweet. read more

I've been there a couple of times. Teriyaki chicken and kalua pork are really good. Teriyaki beef flavor was really good but cut has been fatty twice. Could use some teriyaki sauce on the side. Macaroni salad is flavorless. read more

Ok, a review has to be written here because we drove quite a ways out of our way, on a regular Saturday to eat here just to find out they were close this particular Saturday for LDS general conference. I get the religious thing, I'm LDS myself, but to close your doors completely on Saturday and leave your customers high and dry, being an inconvenience, is really not a great move. There are other ways to enjoy conference and still work. Food here is ok, but there is certainly no shortage of Polynesian food in St. George. read more

I love Island Grinds! Their meat is always awesome and the rice and macaroni salad perfectly balanced it out. The service is pretty fast, and although the staff don't go out of their way to be friendly, they aren't rude either. The food is delicious.
