it seems everyone has a 0 or a 5 star experience here. Fortunately for me, mine was SIX stars! My local Hyundai service centers SUCK, and so I drove 40 miles to visit this much better-rated one. Customer service reps Shari and Joe took good care of me, despite not communicating very well with each other. For some reason Joe, who you meet behind the counter when you get there, didn't know why I had an appointment with them, and so I had to explain my business there that day. Having to do that gave me an unpleasant, deja vu feeling. Despite the annoying initial confusion, it all worked out well. Joe found a valuable benefit on my warranty I didn't even know I had (because I don't?), saving me several $ thousands! Joe kindly organized a free Lyft to get me back and forth from their shop, and the crew even washed my car when they were done! The car rides like new now! In 20+ years I haven't been to a better Hyundai service center--which tells you everything you need to know about Hyundai. Sadly, I doubt there is a better one in the NY Metro area. read more

Very much enjoyed meeting and working with Richie this week. Had re- leased new Hyundai thru Island Hyundai and very happy. A successful outcome. As difficult as this process can be, it was my good fortune to meet Richie upon entering showroom. He explained lease program, spending much time to review all tech functions of new car and despite the heavy rains spent time reviewing online information and securing new plates. Took my Sonata in for a recall, (anti-theft ignition cylinder protector) after wasting my time going there at 8:30am I was talked out of having the recall done, service person said "your insurance company is not requiring this yet and if you do it it will be a much higher labor cost if I ever need to have work done on the ignition". It would have been nice to have been told this when the appointment was made. I also had to call the parts department myself to see if they had the part in stock. read more

One stat because it can't be zero. I made an appointment to replace my tire. I have Hyundai tire protection. I get there 20 minutes early. They send me home as it could take a few hours. They call me to trll me that my vehicle need work that it does not need. Like a throttle body cleaning. This does not need to be done for at least 60,000 miles. My car has appx 18,000. A wheel alignment for no reason At all as my car drives perfectly straight. The took 6 hours to replace the tire and. Unacceptable work by the mechanics and by the representative. Rafael is the person I spoke with and was trying to tell me that the throttle body was dusty and it was my responsibility even though it is getting dirty 40,000 prior to the usual interval. I said if it's dirty this soon it's a direct of the vehicle so you need to take care of it. He got angry and told me I could decline all the suggested work and I did. And he hung up on me. Horrible costumer service. I hope he gets fired along side the crooked mechanics. I will not lease Hyundai or go back to this shop ever again. Disgraceful how they take advantage of people. If I could give this dealership 0 stars I would. I spoke with a sales rep Mike regarding a pre owned car. Was told there was no visible damage and the car was like new - I took an out of state drive to go test drive and purchase. Upon arriving, the front bumper has visible holes through it and scratched around the driver side wheel. When going to return the keys, Mike wouldn't make eye contact or approach us. The manager stepped in and offered to replace the bumper and have the car ready for pickup early the next week Wednesday. Wednesday came and went and no one would return my call. Finally a call from the manager... the car was again damaged during repairs and the windshield needed to be replaced. I do not trust their repairs or word and told them to refund my deposit. The manager Larry called me and ensured a refund first thing next day. I had to chase him down to confirm the refund Multiple reasons why I will be reporting this dealership to BBb 1) if there's an honest mistake, you call your customer and communicate 2) classic bait and switch tactics - my wife thinks they photo shopped the original pictures they sent me 3) if your repair shop causes further damage, why trust any repair made on premise 4) very eager to take your money and deposit. Like pulling teeth to confirm they issue a refund I sincerely hope someone reads this review thoroughly and decides to take their business elsewhere. I already wrote a review about this dealership while I was getting an oil changed. I watched as they crashed two cars into each other while one was on a lift. They drove the second car underneath and crashed both cars and never told either owners because the damage was on the undercarriage and the roof of the other car. Today I ended my lease and went to return the vehicle at his dealership just for Steve to get into my face and say he won't accept the vehicle because I didn't lease it from this dealership and I'm taking food out of his coworkers mouths. It took 2 weeks to get an appointment. The appt did not guarantee a reasonable time until I was told what's wrong. $189 charge just to look at the car. While there, they offered to get me an Uber. I gave them the address and they put in the wrong address in the order. I ended up trapped in an Uber with a driver who refused to take me where I needed to go until they changed the address in the app. Driver and I called the shop, explained that they made a mistake. The driver tried to explain the simple way they could fix it. The young man kept telling us it was impossible I would have to be driven back to their store and then another Uber would drive me home. I explained my mom was getting chemo and I didn't have time to go back to them and wait for another ride. Asked them to give me a credit towards what one. They refused. After being rude to the driver they realized he was right. While I was on speaker the man hung up on me on purpose. I had to stand in the cold until the new driver came. Reached out to corporate and expect the company to do right now. No one should be tested the way I was treated and the way the driver was treated. We will see if they honor the warranty or if they try to cheat me out of money. I hope the work is acceptable quality after the heck they put me through . However we just walked in to inquire about a second car for my parents giving them potentially a THIRD lease or buy and we were COMPLETELY IGNORED. When walking into Island Hyundai on July 4th for their sale , I was interested in leasing a 2020 Sonata. Moments after my arrival , my husband and I were greeted by a sales rep who didn't bother to introduce himself. He instructed us to go and check out the vehicle, which he did & we liked a lot. Once we were done , he invited us back inside to crunch numbers. As a woman , I felt attacked by the salesman. He was very rude and aggressive while speaking to me , infront of my husband! He was making faces at me everytime I spoke and kept repeating " Well what did you expect / Did you think you weren't going to pay anything?! / You must be crazy" I couldn't believe the nightmare I had to deal with. Not only did I have to endure this mental breakdown but, THE LEASE THEY OFFERED ME HAD A VISIBLE SCRATCH ON THE SIDE ( And I was being epected to pay over 7k to get a decent monthly payment !) . He made me feel so low and pathetic .. Is this how Island Hyundai treats its customers ? Like trash ? I would never do business here for as long as I live ! UPDATE: Received a call from one of the VPs who was extremely nice and offered his sincerest apologies. Refunded me the $150 diagnostic fee. I'm glad that my emails were taken seriously and that this was resolved. If I could give a rating of 0 stars I would. This was by far the worst customer service experience I've ever had in my life. On February 17th, 2020, I brought my 2010 Hyundai Elantra to Island Hyundai to be serviced for an EPS (electronic power steering) system warning light on the dashboard.  I also brought paperwork that shows that the EPS warning light is listed under a Technical Service Bulletin.  Within an hour of dropping the car off, one of the service representatives called me back to tell me that the entire steering column would have to be replaced and that the Technical Service Bulletin does not cover the repair.  I was given the option to have the repair done (which was going to cost over $2,500), or take the car and pay the $150 diagnostic fee. The following day, I brought the car to Hyundai Freehold in New Jersey, which ended up being a completely different customer service experience.  Nick Meccia, one of the service representatives there, informed me that the repair may actually be covered under the warranty. Nick submitted a claim to Hyundai, and a few days later, he called me to inform me that Hyundai approved the claim and Hyundai would cover the entire repair. Nick provided EXCELLENT customer service, was very understanding and was willing to do whatever it took to resolve the issue.  The repair was completed about a week later. On February 28th, I go back to Island Hyundai of Staten Island and asked to speak to the service manager.  His name is Dante Lopez.  I explained to him the whole situation with the car.  I showed him the invoice from Hyundai Freehold that listed the repairs that were done free of charge and asked why Island Hyundai didn't bother checking to see if the car was still under warranty.  He looked up the warranty information on the car and insisted that the necessary repairs were not covered under the warranty, which is impossible because I had just gotten the car repaired a day later at Hyundai Freehold.  I simply asked why they were so quick to give me a $2,500 estimate and why they didn't bother submitting a claim to Hyundai to see if the repairs would be covered.  His reply was: "I'm not going to go out of my way for non-loyal customers." I was absolutely appalled by the response.  I couldn't believe that anyone in customer service, let alone a service manager, would say that to a customer.  "They must do business differently there", he added. I replied "Yes they do business the right way" He responds by saying that he's running a business and is not going to just give anything away for free unless it's for a customer that regularly gets their car serviced there (meanwhile I've brought my car to Island Hyundai before for an unrelated issue, and have NEVER brought my car to be serviced at Freehold Hyundai)  So the assumption here is had I not taken my car to Hyundai Freehold and done the repair at Island Hyundai instead, I would have paid over $2,500 dollars for something that I could have gotten for free because the car was still under warranty?  Does this sound like good customer service to you?  He also states that Hyundai Freehold is different from Island Hyundai because Island Hyundai is privately owned and operates differently.  They both operate under Hyundai! Absolutely disgusted at this point, I asked for a refund of the diagnostic fee.  Dante said that he wasn't going to give me a refund and that there was nothing he could do about it. I then tell him that since he was not willing to refund me the diagnostic fee, through word of mouth, he was going to lose a lot of business, and that I would never set foot into Island Hyundai ever again, whether it's to purchase a new car or to replace my windshield wipers.  I then tell him that I will be calling the Better Business Bureau to file a formal complaint against him and Island Hyundai, and will be writing very negative reviews on Island Hyundai's website, and on any other website explaining in detail this absolutely atrocious customer service experience.  I added that I am NEVER, EVER going to recommend that any family members, friends, co-workers, and acquaintances go to Island Hyundai for any reason. Pay the extra gas and toll to go to Hyundai Freehold of New Jersey instead; where THEY understand the values and meaning of customer service. In a very condescending tone, with a grin on his face, he replied: "You do what you need to do, it won't bother me, and I won't lose sleep over it".   I was absolutely stunned. How can someone who is a MANAGER in customer service be so callous, dismissive and act so unprofessionally to a customer? I had an airbag light that is staying on in my 2007 Hyundai Sonata. I had.a recall on the seat belt assembly and brought it to Island Hyundai. They plugged in an OBD scanner which reads the code in a minute and charged me $180. We could have purchased this ourselves for $100 and had.it for any car. I was informed that Hyundai Motor America would reimburse me for this. Then I was informed that it was a defective OCS sensor under passenger car mat. This would cost over $2,100 on an old car that is not even worth.that but has under 68,000 miles on it! Hyundai Motor America received a copy of my paid bill and my letter about this. I informed them about how dangerous it was.to drive their product around. Not only did we get no satisfaction from them other than a sorry. At least stand by your product and reimburse this.$180 or send us an OCS sensor. Any mechanic can install this. We are left with a dangerous car, and a horrible dealership and a bunch of Sorrys from Hyundai Corporate offices. I am posting this to inform everyone that buying any Hyundai or Kia product is putting your life in your own hands. They just had another recall with their cars catching on fire today!!! Really shoddy product and really poor treatment. P S. Jeremy, the service manager wanted it out there about their professionalism and sorry about my treatment. A $13.99 can of CRC IVD intake cleaner is all it would have taken to fix my mother's 2017 Elantra's so called carbon build on the intake throttle body that caused a check engine light. 1. This car is MPI, not GDI, carbon builds up in the cylinder where there is combustion. Why would carbon build up on somewhere fuel doesn't even touch, much less combust. 2. $189.00. I could have solved this within 10 minutes for under $15. I should have know better. Stealership is a term that fits Island Hyundai to capital T 3. Don't dismiss my car knowledge. The so-called assistant manager has been doing this for 20 years (yeah, good for you, pulling the wool over people's eyes for 20 years) because "the car doesn't drive on the highway enough". recently got off military duty and stopped by their dealership to look into a TrueCar voucher on a 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited XL Ultimate with Black Exterior and Black interior. The sales person Michael Jenkins went to pick the car up at their storage lot. I waited for 4+ hours then he called back the Sales Manger stating that the car had a scratch and wouldn't be able to sell that car. I never saw the SUV. I said. If it's only a scratch then fix it up and give me a discount on the price. The Sales Manager said he can't do that. Then he started pushing me to buy a Silver model of the same model for a little less price. I insisted on wanting the Black on Black model. He took a down payment for $1,000.00 as a locate deposit and said there was a model at a Connecticut Hyundai dealership. Two days later: I returned to Island Hyundai, Staten Island NY and asked the Sales Manager for an update. He said the sales person Mike Jenkins is not here today but we got the SUV and it will be here on Monday. He said Mike Jenkins his Sales Associate will be taking the ride to pick up the SUV in Connecticut on your behalf. In addition. I had already secured insurance cards for the previous promised TruCar deal (See linked email below) which was never satisfied. 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe XL Limited Ultimate AWD VIN: KM8SRDHF9KU302182 I returned again on Monday to check the status: The Sales agent Mike Jenkins and Sales Manager said the folks from Connecticut dealership changed their minds about swapping the SUV. He then offered to sell me a used 2019 black on black same model with 4500 miles for $1,000 less. This SUV according to to Mike Jenkins was driven by the General Manger's 70 year old father. This is insane.... I was so frustrated at this point. I stormed out of the dealership in anger. They still have my $1,000.00 dollars deposit with still no resolution with a hit on my credit report. This not a good look for Hyundai. I am recommending to military commands and families throughout the east coast to place Hyundai dealerships on blast through all our social media platforms. Hyundai is Doing Bad Business with Military Customers Hyundai has great products but this was a total service disappointment. Hyundai needs to deal better with military customers. Yesterday was my first time coming here, I came here on a whim. Nissan up the block was terrible so while leaving there I saw Island Hyundai and decided to just see. I pulled up and two salesman were near the street, I inquired about customer parking and Mike made a joke, took the car and showed us where to go. His energy, was everything! It's stressful enough to have to talk numbers, deals, etc so at least have people with great energy! This dealership was filled with just that. Made my buying experience super. I literally spent 5 hrs straight here but it was worth it. I felt heard, attended to, well informed and ultimately I got what I wanted in the end. Mike was the best!!! I brought my Santa Fe Sport 2018 for service on 8/01/2022 at 11:38am. I was waiting at home until about 4pm. I gave them a call ( the service), they asked me for the name, last name and model of the car, they promised to call back as soon as they find out something about my car. Nobody called back. At 5:30 the same day I came to the dealer personally, but there was no one there. What kind of attitude to customers. They didn't call, they didn't call back after I called them , they didn't notify that the car had to be left for the night at the dealer, they didn't provide a replacement car. Lisa, who normally works in the upstairs offices was incredible! She is the one that got me to come in to see cara and stayed with me throughout the entire process. She is amazing! Richie my official sales agent and Frank the GM were so sweet and worked with me every step of the way. Ran numbers up the wazoo to ensure I was getting the best deal possible. Richie also maintained communication with me for at least a week after my purchase to ensure everything was ok. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is because of the service department. My brand new car gas tank wouldn't open - Richie and frank told me to bring it in after the weekend and they would fix it immediately. I brought the car in and the service department told me it would take 3-4 hours! It wasn't until Frank went back there they immediately fixed it (was a spring issue) and I was able to take my car back home. I was disappointed that it took the GM having to walk back there to tell them to fix it on the spot since it was a brand new car even though I had already told them the same thing. Overall, need to improve customer service in the service department but great experience at the sales department! read more

I went to Island Hyundai to get a quote on my car and look at the Tucson and Santa Fe on Black Friday to get an idea on what they looked like inside. I worked with a salesman Moe who was actually very nice and personable throughout the process. I am not very good at the car buying process and I let Moe talk me into a Kona as my girlfriend loved the car. Even when asking him to compare the Tucson or look at some Tucson's Moe did everything he can to get me to lose focus on it and keep me focused on the Black Kona he wanted to sell. Well it worked and that is what I went with. I don't blame anybody but myself for not sticking to what I wanted however that is not even my complaint here. My first complaint is being in the dealership for over 6 hours after deciding the car I wanted in the first hour. But I am a pretty patient person so no worries. My real complaint is the fiancé guy. I am not sure his name but boy was this guy a snake. I left off with Moe trading in my 2012 Veloster for $6500 putting it all down for the Kona SEL sticker price $24,765 at $199 a month 3-year lease and I pay nothing walk out with a new car. Easy right? As soon as I get to the finance office the finance guy tries to sell my all the typical bs and I say no to everything but then he tells me I have to pay an Acquisition Fee and a Disposition Fee with him costing around $1500 and that I can add to the lease payments coming to around $240 a month. I told him I already spoke with Moe and was going to walk out at anything over $200 and Moe told me I would pay $199 a month and not have to pay a dime to walk out with the new car. The finance guy started getting agitated arguing with me that the sales guys "don't know about these fees" and regardless of what they agreed with me I would have to pay this in full now or throughout the lease. I told him no deal and I would just leave and look up a new car. He told me they already removed my license plates and registration of my Veloster so I can't just leave now. I told him well they can just put them back on. And if I wasn't waiting for them to get me in his office for 6 hours, he wouldn't have needed to take off the plates in the first place. It was past 8:00pm at night and they were closing, so he was trying to get it ready. The finance guy got really rude to me saying "What is this your first rodeo" "Everybody knows what happens when you come back here" "You are always going to pay more fees" He knocked off the Acquisition Fee and then kept trying to have me pay the Disposition Fee saying "It's only another $20 a month" "You are going to walk out on $20 a month?" We argued for a good half hour over this. At this point I called my gf and let her know what's happening and she told me don't pay a dime more and left to come pick me up since I couldn't take my car back yet. I got up to walk out on the deal and he finally removed all the fees talking under his breath "Your gonna pay it one way or another" This is the hands down most unprofessional person I have ever done business with. I don't know how this man is employed. Moe tried to calm me down after the situation happened and played dumb like this has never happened before. He was really nice with me, so my gripe is not with him. To top it off Moe called me the next day to follow up asking if I liked the car and I told him I was unhappy with it. I told him I looked up and saw Hyundai offered a 3 day return policy (Three-Day Money Back Guarantee: Any customer who is not satisfied with their purchase is given a three business day period to return the car for a full refund, contingent upon a dealer inspection and the vehicle having fewer than 300 miles since the purchase/lease date). I asked him if I can come back and trade it in for a Tucson and he told me "Sorry we don't do that here". The Hyundai website says they do it and the store location also say they do it. I called the store the following day and the girl at the store said she will check with Moe and her manager and get back to me. Of course, she never did get back to me. Finally, after looking back I don't know where the finance guy added an additional $2000 but the sticker price on my Kona that they left in the car says Total Price: $24,765.00 and the Agreed Upon Value of the Vehicle is $26,822.15. $28,234.64 after tax. How did My total price go up $2000 above sticker price? This dealership is a complete scam. I really love Hyundai cars and what they have done in the past few years but this store's complete unprofessionalism destroys the good name the company has made for themselves and they should just be ashamed of themselves. read more

I should've followed my mind... And avoided Staten Island dealerships at all costs. Especially when I brought my vehicle in for recall and heard the service dept talk circles around this older gentleman and intimidating him to get services he didn't need. Made the mistake of also trading in my recalled Sante Fe for an Elantra and the sales Dept is no better. Their supposed "best salesman" is a con artist, and don't let me get started on the Finance Manager I had to deal with. I refuse to do any further business with this dealership or bring my vehicle here for service. I will go to a Hyundai in NJ for servicing. read more

First of all, our salesperson was Igli. He was wonderful from beginning to end. My first time ever getting a car from a dealership and he was helpful from the moment he kindly came up to us in the lot to ask if we needed help. We did our research because it was the first time getting a new car and we are confident that we got the best deal possible (cheaper than our friends who got the same car) AND his no pressure super informative approach really helped make everything easy. Obviously don't take the first price he offers (sorry for blowing up your spot Igli) but we understood that's how the game is played. But even through our negotiations everything was an enjoyable experience and he knew what he was talking about. He even gave me his personal cell phone number so I could text him questions about the car after we left, before we made our purchase, and he answered them quickly, honestly, and gently explained why he was really giving us the best. I can safely say that I will tell my parents to come here and ask for Igli when they get their new car next year! read more

Should have listened to the other reviews. Definitely a bunch of crooks and thieves and liars. Save yourself the hassle and GO ELSEWHERE!! Put $100 refundable deposit on a Santa Fe. Went back within a few days to have the deposit refunded. They kept telling me the manager was busy. I went back a second time. Then they told me the manager was out. I filed a dispute with the credit card company. Now I'm waiting for the paperwork to appear. My husband and I saw the paperwork and trusted the salesperson who seemed nice enough when he said he'll give me the copy the next time we went it. ROTTEN LYING CROOKED THIEVES.
