    Oxtail lunch
    Theresa F.

Excellent lunch options and pricing. Good portions, big flavors, and fast, friendly service. A fantastic deal and the best pricing I've found for oxtails anywhere.

OMG ... this food was soooooo delicious... Authentic Jamaican food seasoned to perfection... my favorite was the curried goat... however the oxtails were number 2 on my list... I wanted to order the curried goat to take home for later but time did not permit... the service was fast friendly and efficient. The ambiance was cozy and felt like Mom's kitchen... Relaxing island music was also playing which felt very inviting... I felt very welcomed in their establishment. I was there on vacation with my partner and he enjoyed the food also... we visited many restaurants while on vacation in Pompano Beach and this one was one of the best.

Jerk Chicken Pasta with texas toast & a fresh salad

I just wanted to give thanks to the previous reviewers if you didn't review I wouldn't have went to try. I drove 28 minutes to order, I walked in after a gentleman and it was 2 people ordering in front of me. They both sat to eat in and I ordered to go. I got the jerk chicken pasta lunch order which came up to 12-13 dollars ! Y'all when I tell you she was bring the food out beautiful looking fresh and well prepared I wanted to eat in. I used the bathroom it was clean and had everything you needed. When I went back I waited about 10-15 minutes and she brought me a hot box I didn't even need to check it. I drove home it was still hot when I opened it. It had a fresh salad a piece of texas toast and the best jerk chicken pasta well cooked it just fell apart along with fresh peppers & soft noodles I will be back & to eat in ! Thank you Big O's y'all definitely do it fresh every time

OMG !!!!! What a great find !!!! This is a really good Jamaican restaurant in Pompano, not far from the intersection of Atlantic and Federal. They have a few outdoor tables as well as a nice indoor air conditioned dining area. The guy behind the counter was as friendly and happy as he could be. A delight dealing with him. We got a few dishes for lunch and all of them were FABULOUS !!! The jerk chicken had some spice without being too spicy and the brown stew chicken was a really tender, very moist....it was a "fall off the bone" dish. The rice and peas were done perfectly and the cabbage was also delicious. The maduros were a bit firmer than other places but still really well done. Their lunch specials run until 3pm the days they are open. It's just a great little place for a nice ethnic meal. There's free street parking right in front of the restaurant or in a private lot facing Atlantic. Check it out...you will love it.....

Oh man! (Ya mon?) This was one of the best Jamaican meals we've ever experienced in Florida. And we've eaten a lot!The lady sitting next to us was really enjoying her oxtail. She was oohing and ahhing. She said that it was so good, she wanted to see (the size of) the chef's shoes!! It took me a short while to understand what she was saying -- when it dawned on me. You're in love? Yes, I'm in love! (Ladies think about it, you'll get it eventually..) They have a fuller regular menu, but we zeroed in on their lunch specials -- each only $7.99. You can add soup for an addition fee, but frankly you probably won't need to. Portions are of ample size.you get your choice of rice (white or with "peas") and a choice of salad or cabbage. He chose their curry chicken with cabbage. I chose their brown stew chicken with salad. We both had peas & rice (fyi, these are not green peas but beans/pigeon peas). The chicken in each dish was so tender. Fall off the bone. There was sauce on the chicken, but luckily it came with additional oh so flavorful sauce for dipping or to pour over the rice. Just delicious. His cabbage was tender. The salad was fine, but I should have added dressing (it's on a table by the counter). And I'd probably get the cabbage (veggies) next time. Also on the plate was a small perfectly cooked piece of sweet plantain. The television screen shows pictures of some of the dishes -- if you're not familiar with island food. The restaurant is small inside. And it is colorfully decorated. If you like reggae music, you will definitely enjoy the tunes. They do a lot of takeout -- but there are enough tables to dine in and a full bar. There is street parking nearby. Can't wait to come back to try one of their patties and their oxtail. Hopefully soon! Try it... you'll love it.

Beef stew lunch special, jerk chicken lunch special and 2 beef pattys

Lunch special was great. Loved the flavor of the meat, cabbage, and rice. Not so kuch a fan of the meat va the bones in the neat you got. I'd pay a little more for deboned meat. Spicy beef patty was a mild spice but still great and the pocket it came in was light and airy which was good. And not to greasy like some other places. I'll have to come back for dinner and try something else so I can give them 5 stars or possibly keep it the same.

The location is a free standing building. Well kept and clean. Private parking lot. The service to second to none. Family owned business. The FOOD ... crazy flavors and good size portion. Small will fill you up but get a large life's short! Affordable. 10/10 Highly Recommend you to visit them.

The customer service is always good, that's why this rating got a 2 instead of a 1. I ordered the oxtail lunch special. Rice and peas were delicious but the oxtail itself was definitely overcooked and tough. It tasted like it was just "beef". Definitely not falling off the bone. Last time I was here was definitely better.

Inside the restaurant was cute and a little funky. However, it seemed off that evening. I noticed that many of the tables hadn't been cleaned off. Chairs were not neatly tucked in. The dining room looked in disarray. Yet, there was no one else there. If I hadn't read the good reviews on here, I would've just left. We found a clean table, and we had to ask the server for menus. The salads we ordered were good, but they needed more dressing. The ingredients were fresh, and I genuinely did enjoy the food. However, the state of the dining room and inattentive service set a not-so-great vibe. Perhaps it's different earlier in the day. Perhaps it was an off night.

The owner personally made our food, while the head barista took our order and crafted our coffee drinks. We ordered the Mexi Bowl and the Mediterranean Bowl, along with the tzatziki and pita to start. If you're comparing it to somewhere like Cava, it does take a bit longer, but it's clearly made with care. Everything tastes homemade, fresh, and noticeably better. The barista even made us a customized s'mores latte, topped with a toasted marshmallow, which was both fun and genuinely delicious. For dessert, we tried a homemade chocolate chip cookie with candied walnuts, and it was a total surprise homerun. This is the kind of place you come to when you want quality, not speed, and it's absolutely worth it.

However, the food was honestly subpar. We ordered the pecan crusted trout, which had absolutely no flavour at all. There was an almost unrecognizable light crunch, but it did not taste like nuts, much less pecans. The fish itself had no flavour, even though we tried to season it with salt, pepper, salsa picante and lemons (which we asked for in hopes of enhancing some semblance of personality). We'd also ordered the short ribs. Again, there was absolutely no seasoning or flavour, and the meat was almost dry, not stewy and tender. The potatoes were mediocre, lacking seasoning. The plates lacked any attempt at an inviting presentation. I was also a little disappointed in the wine list. They don't offer much variety, and they seem to favour predominantly California wines. The saving grace was our dessert. We loved their cheesecake topped with berries. It was fresh and creamy and full of flavour. Their espresso is nice as well. Again, shout out to Leo. We admire your stoic professionalism, as you must know the food is lacking.

A few small tables set against the wall and a few larger tables on the outside sidewalk. Doesn't look like much thought was placed on the design here. Service: Didn't wait at all for one of those small inside tables. My server was efficient and served my tea latte exactly as requested. Little things can often make the difference between a successful dining experience and not and here were a few of the small things that were provided that make a difference. I ordered the pancakes and my server suggested a side of scrambled eggs. The food: I received two pancakes which were well done, light and fluffy and the perfect size. I also received plenty of butter (so many places don't give you enough butter) an ample amount of steamed milk for my tea (another area that always seems to be pretty hard to get right). One thing that always drives me crazy was the fact that my scrambled eggs were served in the same dish as my pancakes. I hate this as the syrup inevitably gets to the eggs. Fortunately, I had a second small dish under my tea (which is also a great thing to get, to place my tea bag). I used this dish for my eggs. Another nice convenience was the mug for my tea which had a handle that I could actually put my fingers through (another area that restaurants fail to provide). In addition, I also ordered a side of sausage which came in patties form and was pretty tasty. The Bottom Line: As always my "customer so what" would I come back? The answer, probably. Although the ambiance was substandard, the food was good the service was as well so, it more than likely would be worth another visit on my next stop in town.
