This is kind of normal, so if you're in a hurry, you may be a bit frustrated. They definitely take their time. My friend asked for peppers to top her food with. What I assumed would be a quick 1-2 minute task seemed like almost ten minutes! After about 20 minutes, our orders were ready. This is NOT a dine in restaurant. It's a fairly small place. Although there's a small table with two chairs in the corner, this isn't a really place to sit and enjoy your food. You'd be more comfortable eating in your car. We grabbed our food and left, opting to eat at a nearby park. It was a beautiful spring day- a perfect setting to eat our lunch. Both of our dishes were absolutely delicious! This was my first time trying Jamaican food in Maryland. I started with the Chicken soup: Very flavorful and hearty. Entree: Oxtails with cabbage and rice and pea, plantain's. The oxtail were very tender and spicy I must say I can tell scotch bonnet was heavy. I love spicy food so I didn't mind. Jerk Chicken, rice and pea, cabbage and plantains: the chicken was grilled which was a plus and the sauce was very good not spicy at all. This place is THE SHIT. Real authentic and delicious food. Got the curry chicken and the jerk chicken. Both fell off the bone which is what I considered to be PERFECT. I accidentally asked for the rum pound cake when I meant to ask for strawberry shortcake but actually the rum cake was OUT OF THIS WORLD. I ordered oxtails with butter beans and it came with a side of rice and beans , cabbage and two sweet plantains. The oxtails were tender and seasoned to perfection. I feel like the gravy had a hint of spice to it. I'm not a fan of spicy food at all but it was so good I pushed through. The rice and veggies were flavorful as well. I didn't care too much for the plantains sadly. They were super dry. They forgot to put utensils and napkins in the bag which was a bit disappointing. I was in the middle of moving so getting to my utensils was a bit challenging at the time. The food sat for a good 30 mins before I could get to it. I will say the food was still hot despite the delay and the flavor made up for the missing utensils. Overall a good choice and I would order again. My husband and I came here came here on July 6, 2024. We both ordered the Kingfish (Brown) it came with Rice and Peas, Cabbage and Plantain. The fish is a thick Kingfish Steak in an a brown sauce, not a whole fish like we're use too. It has peppers and carrots on it too. The cabbage, rice and peas are both scarcely seasoned so that you can mix it with the sauce and the flavor won't clash. The only problem was the it was a lot of Rice and Peas. The fish was cooked perfect and wasn't dry. We also ordered Chicken Patties and Macaroni and Cheese. The patties weren't overly spicy and the flavors were on point. While the Mac and Cheese was some of the best I've had and was super cheesy. Everyone was friendly and made sure we ordered exactly what we wanted. It took about 25-30 minutes for our meal because it was done Chefs Way. Overall it was Jamaican food. There was not too much that made it stand out. We probably won't get the Kingfish again but, intend to come back for the Sakon and trying the other menu items. Oh! The portions are big enough you can save some for later. We were very full and didn't even finish everything. The atmosphere was welcoming, it wasn't too dark or too bright. It was extra clean and the smell of good food filled the air. I like Island Quizine, but something about their dishes are a little inconsistent. I typically get the oxtails or jerk chicken. When they are hitting, they are hitting. When they aren't. They aren't. Sometimes the oxtails are FALL OF THE BONE! Other times, they are a little tougher and not as great. I guess you have to be at the right place at the right now. The one thing is is always consistent is the Pineapple Ginger juice. So good. The island punch (or whatever it is with the 3 mixed - was too sweet for me). The location is Towson is just a carry out location, they used to have a few tables and chairs but that is longer case. Little tight. Im glad I came here. Ive been craving Caribbean food and this place is always my go to and never disappoints. This time I was craving pineapple ginger juice and Island Quizine was LOADED with this amazing concoction. I got a small.... shouldve bought and XL. Thats how delicious it was. I also bought two chicken patties. My dinner is complete. The music was nice as I waited in line for my small order but I enjoyed it! She ignored polite "excuse me's" from customers asking about the wait. I asked twice if there were something wrong or if my order was coming soon. The food isn't always consistently good. Some days the jerk chicken is good, other days the meat isn't fully cooked but it's pink and clearly needed some more oven or grill time. Sometimes the fried dumplings are authentic, other times they use roti flour mixture so the dumplings have a crumbly consistency falling all over the place..not good. Good customer service is optional. You would find a long line of people waiting around for their food, even when you order ahead. While people wait you'll hear bursts of chatter and laughter and playful banter from the staff in the kitchen . They also have more price hikes than any restaurants around. Patties run $2 elsewhere....here it went up to $4.50. A small side of rice and peas is almost $7. This place needs new management who actually care about their reputation and customers, so no I wouldn't recommend. I give 2 stars. read more

The rice was dry, they did NOT put gravy all over, there was very little cabbage at all, in fact I think they must've been running low on cabbage or someone decided to get creative. My cabbage had green beans,corn and green peppers in it... The chicken was sliced thick and it was hard not the way jamaican chicken is usually prepared or served. Curry chicken is generally cooked and simmered in the gravy so the taste is all throughout the chicken. This meal was very disappointing.
