I ordered the Ox tail and Jerk Chicken from the window from a gentleman. The food came out fast! The oxtails were $13.99 Wow! What a deal! It came with 2 pieces of oxtails, 2 plantains, cabbage and rice and beans. The oxtails were wonderful! Good flavor. Tender. What it should be! The rice and beans were cooked well. No complaints there. Cabbage was good. The Jerk chicken $12.95 (dinner) was pretty dry but still edible. Visit was Tuesday 07/21/2020 - we were a bit surprised when we approached this place and now we understand why they do not have done in available lol We pre ordered our food by phone and it was almost ready when we came to pick it up. They have a lil drive thru. It appears to be like a one man show, but we were highly excited about the food when we started eating it at home. The oxtails were very tender and fell off the bones easily. The rice and cabbage was cooked on point and the beans were very tasty. In addition to the food we also ordered Jamaican soda which was imported from Jamaica, only the grape flavored one originated out of Canada. It was a big portion so we have plenty of leftovers for tomorrow. This type of food is easy to be reheated and taste also very good the next day. Yesterday was my first time visiting here and when I tell you this food was so good, it was amazing! The oxtails were perfectly seasoned and tender the meat easily fell off the bone, rice and cabbage also flavorful as well and I usually don't eat plantain but these were also very tasty as well. The nice man that took my order was very patient and provided me with more information about the menu and what they have to offer and the food came out so quick as well! Having in laws from the West Indies and being a former Floridian I miss this food like crazy! My daughter and husband's oxtail was cooked and seasoned perfect as was my curry goat. The beef patties were delicious and had just a faint hint of heat. We will be back weekly lol. read more

I don't know why they have a good rating for their food. Last week I tried their curry goat and was not impressed. My curry goat is so much better. They do not put gravy on their goat and small portions. Yeah the box was full of rice. So tonight I tried the oxtails and they were dry overcooked and no gravy and the container was full of rice. We have tried many Caribbean places and hands down this is the best Caribbean place in Houston. This was absolutely wonderful!!! We had the braised oxtails which are the bomb and grilled jerk chick falls right off the bone and OMG the veggies was soooo tasty. In addition it was refreshing to receive something other than cabbage, which in Kingston they give calaloo instead of cabbage (that's a tourist/US thing). The food is seasoned & cooked to perfection. We really enjoy the food as well as the conversation with the owner by the way this is family owned restaurant and It's a great drive thru spot in a good location on the NW side (which we needed it). We will be supporting this establishment and welcome anyone seeking authentic Caribbean food to visit this place, you won't be disappointed. They do have Lunch specials around $6-7 bucks!!!! This was my first time to Island Sizzle and I was skeptical. As I pulled up to the window Kevin greeted me with a menu and proceeded to tell me about the new restaurant. He was very informative and friendly. I was offered to sample the oxtails before I ordered and they were delicious. The portion size was large and they were very flavorful. In the past I had to drive across town to Cool Runnings for my Jamaican food fix, but now I can just drive around the corner. Also, the meat patty was very flavorful and of good size. This is a hidden little gem. It will be easy to miss the place as it is not very big. I have never picked up food here myself. Instead because of the shelter in place order I have been ordering here using Door Dash. I decided to try it because I like Jamaican food. First, I tried the jerk chicken. It is good, but it did not stand out compared to other Jamaican places I have been to. The dish that stuck out for me is the goat. Now, I have tried goat before from an Indian restaurant, but never a Jamaican restaurant. And I loved it. It had the perfect blend of taste and spices. I continue to order the goat. This is my 3rd and final time eating from this place. The first time I tried them earlier this year the food was ok. The second time, there was barely chicken on my plate. I ordered today for lunch to give them another shot because they are close to my job and I love Jamaican food. My plantains was burnt black as tar, the rice and peas had no taste at all, and there was no "jerk" in the chicken. Every thing taste very bland, no seasoning at all. My cabbage was the only good thing on the plate until I realized they just placed a little scoop over some distasteful rice and peas. I just left Jamaica 2 weeks ago and the natives would be very disappointed in the misrepresentation of their food from this place!
