We ordered delivery last night. Food arrived incredibly fast (thanks to EatStreet) Sushi was nothing amazing but good enough to be satisfied. We got 6 different rolls. The kids loved all of them, us grown ups liked most of them. Crab Rangoon were very good. Overall Island Sushi was ok, we would order delivery again, but there's many other better options for sushi in town, unfortunately not many of them deliver to our area. I'm giving them 3 stars for the food and 1 extra star for the fast delivery service. read more

This had been an all you can eat sushi restaurant. The sushi would come around in boats but a few years ago, the equipment broke. You could order a special roll and they would take turns with the customers making the different roles. Sushi was OK. But they have now closed up. read more

Don't order the all you can eat. Overall, there are much better sushi restaurants in the area. I got the all you can eat sushi with a buddy of mine and the waiter said you could only order two rolls per person per round. Fair enough, but it took 15 or 20 minutes for the first round to come out, and they forgot 2 of the 4 rolls we ordered. Took another ten minutes for the other half of the order to come out. Then, the next round of orders still took a while to come out. It took so long I left hungry and it would have been cheaper to just order the 4 rolls I ate ala carte. There were maybe five or six people there, so it felt like a tactic to get you to eat less. Other negative reviews seem to have had the same experience. read more

Went early on a Saturday, haven't been here since the drama with management. This used to be my favorite sushi place. This was probably my favorite restaurant in reality. Anyways, we waited 40-50 minutes after ordering food, asked what the hold up was, the waiter said it would be about 7 more minutes. Waited 10 more minutes then walked out. We were there for the holiday all you can eat special and spent about 2 hours there. It took about 30 mins for each of our order to come in and we only ordered 3 times. The wait is way too long and not worth it. After the first round they make you wait so long that you're practically full from waiting. We 4 sushi rolls that Looked identical but with different meat. Took awhile to get sat, ordered cocktails, took quite awhile for those. When we finally got them they were really gross, ordered our food shortly after. Got some miso soup which was terrible, no tofu, no onion, no seaweed, just a terrible small cup of salt and water. After 1 HOUR and 15 minutes our food finally came out. The server kept saying it's cause they were busy but I'm not kidding at all there was only 3 other parties of 2 inside. The men's bathroom toilet was broken. And did not have any paper towel. Okayyyyy this place is so cool. This is our meeting spot for my friends and I. We love coming here when we're craving some good sushi. EXTREMELY reasonable prices and good sushi. Sushi is always fresh tasting (beware, a lot of rolls come with cream cheese). They have some unique creations. We have tried the crab Rangoons (small but delicious) , deep fried green beans (very yummy but awesome dipping sauce), and the dessert rangoons (super decadent but again small, perfect size dessert). Now for the sushi.... we have tried so many rolls but the best ones are crabby patty, Galapagos, spicy tuna, and the crab Rangoon roll. Rolls are smaller in size but the price reflects that, so we get quite a few and share. Read what's in them because 75% have cream cheese Haven't tried the all you can eat yet... definitely will someday. We go on weekdays always and it can get very very busy. Almost every time we go we are seated right away, but it takes a little while for us to order, get drinks, get food, etc. I only think it is due to lack of staff. My favorite sushi place in the valley! Not to diss on sushi lover (I worked at sushi lover so I'm not bias) but island does it the best!! Their rolls are unique and creative. The boats/island is the coolest thing about this place. I recently went in and discovered that you can no longer walk in for the boats on weekends. It's reservation only. Which sounds terrible but they actually have time slots/shifts where one big group gets seated together at your chosen time and you get roughly 1 hour to sit at the island. (More info on their website) I think that actually shortened the wait times. So kudos to whoever came up with that idea. My only request: add poke to your menu!! We finally decided to make the trek up to Appleton to try out Island Sushi, which had been recommended by a number of our friends. It's a cozy place, and the sushi boats are a cute touch, much more fun than a conveyor belt! You can take anything from the boats floating past, and you can also ask the sushi chefs for anything off the menu - they will give you half the roll (4 pieces) and put the rest of it on boats for other people to try. So there is a nice variety. It's a fairly small sushi track, so even though we were behind the chefs, we could still easily watch them prepare the sushi. We felt the quality was pretty good (comparable to Takara in Madison, WI, but with a cozier vibe). The did not have a large variety of raw fish to choose from, however...they explained that they focus on just tuna and salmon so they can ensure the quality of their supply. So if you want a wide variety of fish, bear that in mind! And if you like spicy - REAL spicy, not just midwest spicy - try the Volcano roll! Fantastic sushi place in a good location. The set up is what I would call a sushi bar. All the patrons sit around the bar and the chefs are in the middle making sushi. The majority of the sushi will rotate on boats in front of you and you grab what you want. The chefs will come by and ask you what custom roll you want and give you half and put the other half on boats so if you get lucky you can try more custom rolls. Its all you can eat minus desserts, drinks and sashimi all for around $20 at the time of this review. Food- Food is fantastic. They have some amazing custom rolls. And the rotating sushi is great as well. Volcano Roll is super spicy if you like spicy. It is also super delicious. Spider roll is great. They have a Wisconsin roll made with a brat and mustard that I wanted to try but never got around to it. Spicy Jalapeno Roll is a great one. The chefs also like making their "favorite" if you ask them to make their favorite roll. Drinks- Didnt have anything but tea but the selection was wide since they are connected to a bar Service- Service was absolutely fantastic. The wait to get into the sushi can be long if you go in the evening. Lunch service was a little quicker. The custom rolls come out pretty quickly but it does take a while for you to order your next roll as they go on rotation to the other patrons there so in my 45 minutes there I ordered about 3 or 4 custom rolls. That would be the only thing that I would improve but not really sure how that would be possible. The wait time here is absolutely incredible. But the food was quite delicious and inexpensive - AKA worth the wait. You can order a couple rolls each & not break the bank. And do try the Mermaid drink! We came up from MKE, and from what started as a less than pleasant experience, turned into a great double date night. Next adventure will be to enjoy the boats!! Although I did enjoy the sushi I had for lunch today I was sad to see you raised your prices and did not update online. If you post these prices yourself (not a customers post) you should honor them. Going from 11.99 to 19.99 was a very unexpected surprise. Please update your pricing or maybe bring back a lunch special and maybe you won't have as you said and I quote "sorry we are not very busy" Also when on lunch from work (m-f) you have a limited amount of time. 2 rolls (4 pieces each) in 40 mins is not what I would expect paying 20$ for. The pace was rather slow and bc there was only 2 other couples there it shouldn't have take. 15 mins or more btwn rolls I must say though the flavor of the sushi rolls were fun and the chefs were very personable! Overview Island Sushi is the only sushi buffet in the area. The food use to be a lot better and it has gone down hill in recent months. Pros The menu rolls are generally very good, however most of the stuff that makes its way for not the boats isn't really the greatest. If you order off the menu, you'll get some pretty amazing rolls for what your paying. Cons The restaurant use to be really good and there was a lot of care taken in preparation of food. It was one of my more frequent spots--I live by myself so grocery shopping is actually more expensive than eating out. However, their staff turnover seems pretty high and they have lost a lot of the quality I use to visit them for, especially at the prices, which have also changed. Did you can get an attentive person making rolls and asking for specialty rolls, it still worthwhile to visit, but I wouldn't do so if it's busy because that's just not going to happen. The basic rolls in the boats are generally low quality and lack in the taste department. I'm assuming that because of high turnover, this is where problems are arising as nobody is quite proficient in making a proper roll. Because of this, prices are just too high for what you're getting. Final It's a crapshoot. Sometime when it's slower the food is good, but if it's busy, I'd pass and find somewhere else. read more

This place is amazing! The all you can eat is a perfect opportunity to try a little bit of a lot of different kinds of sushi. The only way they could improve this experience would be if there was a way to let you know the name of the sushi you were trying. It doesn't sway my review, though, everything I've ever tried is delicious! The individual rolls are great as well, and reasonably priced. A great pick up to go option for busy weeknights. The flavor of the sushi is pretty good for the price, and the atmosphere is wonderful. The waitstaff is always very friendly and prompt, so no complaints there. That being said, the sushi chefs are slow, many of them act pompous and stuck up. But by far the worst is one particular bartender. I always want to leave when I see the blond female bartender working. Her drinks are consistently subpar, and my rum and coke was so weak I questioned if she put any rum in it! (SHE HADN'T) Ugh. If she's alone behind the bar, stick to a beer and don't let her pour it unless you love foam. read more

Soooo, I am not a big sushi person. My girlfriend is though. Ive been to this sushi place a bunch of times now. Tonight we got there at 6:35 pm. Going in they told us it was a 2 hour wait time!! So naturally we left to get Chinese food at emperors buffet. 2 hours on a Wednesday at 6:30...while the main access is cut off due to road construction....all for sushi that to me, (a dont really care about sushi cus it all tastes the same kinda guy)...it tells me that 1. It's full of hipsters. 2. They need to set up a reservations system, or get a bigger location. And 3. They must have some damn good sushi for ppl who are into it. I usually get whiskey gingers from the bar, or sake at the boats when I go and I honestly can say that I'm happy with the quality of the drinks there. I give it 3 stars for that reason....if they weren't so busy all the time or if we could make reservations when we go...and if I was a sushi guy, my rating would probably be higher. read more

I was definitely not expecting the same high standards as I would find in big cities and Japan, but the food and service was subpar. Now the good, the bad and the ugly... Decor: When you walk into the restaurant, it's cute; there are little boats on water that circle around the island table and the chefs stand in the middle. It's ayce and you grab sushi and appetizers off of the boats. Food: almost all the sushi rolls tasted the same with cream cheese, fish or veggies. Service: there's supposed to be one chef that comes around taking orders for their specialty rolls off the menu. We were asked once and sat around for an hour before the chef came back to us for seconds. No, it was not busy (max 12 people in the restaurant). He only came back to us because we observed the group next to us who arrived later than us get served 3 times by another chef and we complained that we weren't getting serviced. Love this place! It is a very relaxed and comfortable setting. Staff is really friendly, and everyone sparks up conversation with you. Both times I have been, I have done the unlimited sushi boats. So much fun, and I like that they will go around and ask for requests. There is a wait to do the unlimited, but it is worth it. You can sit at the bar, have an appetizer, and make the wait go quickly. On my first visit, they gave me a free appetizer for next time. I had an amazing experience at Island Sushi! My husband and I went for the first time on Valentine's Day around 4:30. We decided to sit at a table rather than the all you can eat experience. We ordered an appetizer and within 20 minutes our 3 rolls came out. The crab Rangoon was awesome for an appetizer and loved the King Kong and Galapagos rolls! My daughter found. Love for sushi, however she wants it all the time. I used to love coming here however you can now only get the sushi for all you can eat. They used to put other items on the boats such as Rangoons, egg rolls, dessert Rangoons, edamame etc.... Well tonight she ordered take out and ordered 3 rolls. Wait time ??? 100 min. Seriously???? We live on the other side of town but it surely doesn't take us 100 minutes to get there. I totally understand staff shortage but I feel if you were open more days and longer, you wouldn't have a swarm of people. My husband dislikes coming here to dine due to the wait time. I wish we could call and put our name on a list so the drive time counted for the wait time. I myself prefer sushi lovers over Island because I do not have to get all sushi. I can get peppered tuna etc..I also think the wait time could be sped up if you had more options on the boats to fill people up faster.
