    Cubano Cuban Sandwich
    Davinia S.

Great place...the calamari was the best I ever had hands down!!!! the Cuban sandwich was really good. My husband got the shrimp platter and the shrimp was huge and well cook and my daughter got the American cheeseburger and was thick and juicy. The only problem was the strong oily smell inside the dinner so you may want to sit outside.

Great service! We tried the 3 pc meat pies - they were ok but very small for the money. We ordered blackened grouper tacos and the fried shrimp platter. The fried shrimp was great and the tacos were okay we tried to order the platter with grouper and shrimp but the cook would t do one fried and one grilled. We spent more money so I guess their tactic worked. I don't know if we will go back.

Get here before they open, right at 11 AM there was a mad dash for a table when we got here at 10:45 AM. Food was fresh, service was great, would for sure come back. We shared the grouper and shrimp with sweet potato tots. I would suggest this and either an APP or another meal too if you're hungry. Not a ton of food, but it's really, really good!

Driving back to Foley from Pensacola, we decided to take the scenic route along the beach. We had visited Islander Food Shack previously and this was our second time to completely enjoy not just the ambiance but also the tasty food. We both ordered the "catch of the day" grouper in our tacos. Much to our surprise, the restaurant was not charging more for this fresh fish. When the tacos arrived, they were topped with a pineapple salsa. Fresh, light and very tasty- the meal did not disappoint. Fries were our side and they too seemed to be freshly cut. Topped off with a half and half sweet tea we left both satisfied and ready to return in the future. The server was friendly and accommodating. Our only disappointment was the salt and pepper shakers were very dirty. We even took one from another table and it too was dirty . Not enough to keep us from returning though.

My family and I had been driving all day and we finally made it to Pensacola and was looking for somewhere to eat, we decided to stop here and grab dinner. The place was packed upon entry and we managed to get a table outside, the waiter Nick I believe was very apologetic about there will be a wait but let me tell you with how busy it was and we got our drinks, appetizers and check within an hour, there was no need for apologies. The food was amazing! We ordered hushpuppies for appetizers and I loved them, my daughter not so much but she's picky haha. I ordered the Hawaiian burger, my husband the blackened chicken platter and daughter chicken tenders, my burger was insane the burgers, the egg, the pineapple, the ham everything was mouthwateringly good! My husband said his chicken was really really good it had a little kick which he enjoyed and the pickiest eater my daughter said they were the best chicken tenders she'd had! Trust me that's high praise from her haha. Overall I would recommend this place over and over again to anyone that will listen and we'll be going back again and again thank you so so much!!!

My husband and I came for dinner tonight. Let me just say that Robert was such a fantastic server. He was probably one of the most polite servers we've ever had. He was so attentive and always had a smile on his face. And the place was pretty busy between guests dining outside and inside. I want to say there were only two of them--- Robert and a lady also serving. The boom boom shrimp were ever so lightly battered and had just the tiniest kick. I loved that it wasn't drowned in too much sauce like some other places do it, which helps to maintain the crispiness. The burgers were bomb. Not sure what else to say. Buns were nicely toasted and buttery. Cheese was so perfectly melted. Patty was thick and juicy. The Islander Food Shack isn't anything fancy but if you're looking for delicious food with the nicest people running the place, head over there. They know what they're doing.

Service was great, the atmosphere was great, and the food was great! Loved their homemade ranch and cocktail sauce. The woman who served us was very sweet! Will have to come again next time we stay around here!

Shrimp tacos are not worth the price, there is no pineapple salsa and these are definitely not grilled.

We decided to come here based on the reviews of other Yelpers and it did not let us down! The atmosphere is really cool, and I loved looking around at all the dollar bills left behind by other diners over the years. We ordered the Hub Sampler so we got to try a little bit of every classic fried item on the menu. It included fried mushrooms, pickles, mozzarella, and then corn fritters. It was great and had something for everyone! Each of us ordered a sandwich and then one chef salad to split. Because we were also eating a sandwich, the salad was big enough for 4 people to share. It was really big for an entree salad! Everything was good and fresh. My husband and I split The Main Street with potato salad. It's a yummy take on a club sandwich. The standout of the entire meal though was the potato salad. It is a must try. I haven't stopped thinking about it since and I'm kicking myself that I didn't get a to go order to bring back home with me! I will be recommending this spot to everyone looking for casual dining in the area. If I ever find myself vacationing in the area again, this will be my first stop for a meal!
