Excellent service, great cocktails, great appetizers and great "Fresh Catch" items. The hush puppies were damn good! The reason for the mid review is because the chargilled orders all came back with way too much grill residue in the char, so the burger tasted like all the fish that was being chargrilled. The fish that was chargilled came back with hard, inedible pieces. Our youngest said they should clean their grates on the grill. Probably not a bad idea. read more

The Point is ON POINT. We elected to eat our last meal of 2025 here and we' were oh so very happy with our choice. The Point is a laid back, casual joint with seating for groups of any size. There's plenty of parking out front, out back, and across the street. The space is charming and homey. We were seated right away and told about the many specials being offered. Since it was a Wednesday, we were given a generous military discount of 50% off appetizers so we couldn't pass on the potato skins. They were delicious. We also received 10% off our entrees. It was so nice to be recognized for our service. For my entree, I tried the blackened triple tail and it was fantastic! For my sides I had a baked potato and coleslaw. My better half had the country fried steak and he was so very pleased. He also tried the onion rings and enjoyed them greatly. The service put this experience over the top. All of the staff are friendly and efficient and made us feel so welcome and at home. We have been recommending The Point to everyone else we have met in town. This was the best way to end out 2025 and I hope 2026 brings us back here! read more

I hate to leave bad reviews. Especially here because I love this place. I am local and have eaten here many times. I ordered a soft shell crab on Gambinos bread. I got a postage stamp sized, little baby crab on texas toast. With iced tea the bill was $23.96. I told Sharon that I would be embarrassed to serve my customers such a sad looking plate. Happy to point out that The Point is still 100% on point after all these years of Point dining (some 35 or so years for us now). Same familiar and comfortable ambiance; same friendly service (the lovely and personable Taylor today); and the same great fried mullet as always (which is what we drive from Pensacola for). We enjoyed a dozen of the LA oysters which today boasted a perfect brine followed by a cup of the hearty gumbo. And then... the piéce de résistance, fried mullet. We order a whole mullet each a la carte with no sides. $8 per mullet. We can make all the sides we love at home. When we're here in PNS/Perdido Key we want mullet , just mullet, without any side distractions, LOL. As I mentioned we did try the gumbo today as I'm on a gumbo reconnoiter, research and recipe mission this year. It's pretty darn good here. I would love to see an even darker roux, but it's plenty flavorful here. Our mullet, though not large, were perfectly breaded, seasoned, and fried. So enjoyable. Mullet nirvana. My wife and I arrive for an early dinner. There were only a couple of tables seated. We were ushered to a Table in the corner that was dark and cold. We did not want to sit there so we got up and moved to the bar. Our waitress who seated us took care of us at the bar. We opened with adult beverages and ordered our meals. My wife, a hamburger with blue cheese and I there small platter with the fresh catch of the day Blackened, cheesy grits, and fresh peas. Our food came out relatively quickly and we started our meal. It was at that point that we saw a couple of things that soured our appetite a bit. On our way out, I shared a couple of pictures to the man who appeared to be the manager that we observed from our vantage point at the bar. We hope they take care of them. We can't give anything higher than a three due to that. Hopefully, if we visit again, we'll see those issues taken care of. read more

This is a local restaurant about a mile from the main beach road. The waitress was very friendly and there were several good daily specials to choose from. The seafood was fresh and served hot. I wish the sauce was a bit more tangy but the waitress just brought me more lemons. Their tartar sauce was homemade and really good, not your average mayo and relish mixed together. The veggies were fresh and well prepared. We were full but were intrigued by deep fried cheesecake. When the waitress was halfway through describing it, we told her to stop because we had to have a piece. It was over the top delicious and not something light for sure, but if you're on vacation, this is the sort of dessert you should get. If you live here, I feel sorry for you because you know how good it is and how close you are from just dropping by to see if they have any left. It looked like a nice open area out back, but we just ate inside so I can't really comment on that. This is not a fancy restaurant, but it is a good place to eat with great food. read more

I had reviewed the Original Point most recently right at the beginning of the pandemic, and while I love their food was upset at their handling of masks, sanitation and service - but since I recently returned and have always loved the food and atmosphere, figured it was time to update to the rating it deserves usually. First and perhaps most importantly this isn't a fancy place, nor does it pretend to be. It's big, a bit out of the way, has both indoor dining and a backyard atmosphere complete with live music. I love sitting out back, but the weather wasn't our friend this time. We sat in the main dining room which was pretty crowded at 8PM but we didn't have to wait for a table. Our sever was great, and the food as well. Son had chicken fingers (you see a lot of that in these reviews I write don't you?) and he enjoyed them, complete with seafood gumbo and new potatoes. Wife had the crab cakes which she gets every time she eats here, and always raves about them along with grilled shrimp. They also shared a friend green tomatoes (for the life of me I just don't understand that) as well. I had the seafood combo choosing to upgrade to mahi-mahi as a fresh catch, along with sea scallops. Both blackened and it was definitely spicy. Grits and Baked potato were my sides and the gumbo as an add on since I hate the fried green tomatoes. Just a good old school seafood restaurant. Good food, great staff, and just a good feeling atmosphere. Very few place offer bay scallops and the Point does not disappoint. Seafood platters offer bigger selection than most other places. With the OB toll bridge now free, we don't mind the 30 minute drive from Gulf Shores. read more

We read the great reviews for this place and decided to give it a try since we were here visiting and wanted to try new places. Majority of our dishes didn't have any seasoning besides salt. We stopped in here for late lunch after a day at the beach and it did not disappoint. The service was some of the best so far. We have experienced very hospitable service all around in Pensacola. Such a friendly community! We started with some appetizers. We had the Mullet backbones very tasty and the experience was great. We had their house made marinated smoked Tuna steak dip delicious. I had the gumbo and shrimp salad with home made thousand island which was reminiscent of a shrimp Louie. Loved it all. DIL had the special grilled flounder new potatoes with side salad, we had the coconut shrimp and husband got the blackened Grouper with cole slaw. Everything was fresh it was all delicious. It was a lot of crab claws. I'm curious how big the large is and how much it costs. They were really good. I could have drank the buttery sauce. I ordered the shrimp and crab bisque. It was strange. It had almost a yeasty flavor to it. It had whole shrimp in it and they were super over cooked. It was very thick. I was not a fan. Their crab cakes are good. I really liked the grilled mullet. The music by this band was great, even if you aren't a bluegrass fan (of which I am not). They all were so talented at their craft. Beyond that, it was overall great. Logan, our server, was very attentive and on top of everything. The food was really good. I had the Royal Red Shrimp, which I would highly advise to get. They were large, and really tender. The only reason I didn't give this 5 starts is because of the fish being overcooked. We went here twice and everybody's fish was overcooked badly each time. OMG. I don't know what to say about this place. We decided to stop in for happy hour at about 5:30 and we had our choice of dining room or bar room. We were seated at a table near the band, which wasn't playing yet. I saw the acoustic instruments and knew that they would not be too loud for us. We ordered some drinks and shared a Point Platter which included fish, oysters, hush puppies and more. The band began to play and we were totally thrilled. We just stumbled into a great bluegrass band and we wound up staying, and ordering more and more just so we could keep the table. By this time the place was packed.
