After a fantastic first visit, we had to bring more family here to check out our little gem of a restaurant under the bridge. The first attempt was thwarted by a generator or something exploding and they came out and said kitchen is closed but you can have oysters. So we had oysters. We decided for a redo because we wanted to try those lobster rolls!! We sat down and this super heavy woman in shorts she should not be wearing asked us what we wanted to drink and she must not have been happy we all said water because it was straight B- face and B- attitude from there even though we did end up ordering beer. She snapped out that the last of the lobster rolls ended the previously night (we didn't know it was a Memorial Day special) so we all ordered other meals, which came out super quick. So quick you don't get to eat your appetizer first, which defeats the purpose of ordering apps. But this lady was steadfast and relentless with her bad 'tude and it was unacceptable. I had the best royal reds ever. My wife and daughter had the fish tacos with fresh caught red snapper. One was blackened and the other one fried. We also had the boom boom shrimp for an appetizer. We love oysters. We had been making the occasional long drive from Orange Beach to a Pensacola Beach restaurant that had great oysters. We started reading all the favorable reviews for the Salty Pearl and decided to give it a try. One of the best choices we've made in a while. It is not a fancy place - think fish camp. We sat in an outdoor picnic area that is enclosed. At the time, they were still remodeling a new outdoor seating area. Our waitress was everything a wait person should be - prompt, knowledgeable, and friendly. They have bottled beer and wine. The wine is served in a plastic cup which could be improved upon. My husband and I each ordered a dozen raw oysters, and we shared a bowl of gumbo. The oysters were pump, briny, and ice-cold as they were served on ice (what a great idea!). You could genuinely taste the ocean. They were expertly shucked and paired perfectly with the cocktail sauce and a squeeze of fresh lemon. The gumbo had a dark roux, rice, vegetables, and generous portions of fresh seafood and sausage. Hands down the best gumbo we've ever put in our mouths. We ate every last bite of the oysters and gumbo and were happily stuffed. So bye-bye Pensacola, hello Salty Pearl! read more

All was delicious and nice touch including the melted butter for the peel and eat shrimp. Very nice portion sizes and we even had extra to bring home. Service was great and our waiter was great. My first visit here this place was jam packed and I was hoping to sit at the bar inside but there was no room so I ended up on the outside patio. The outdoor patio is actually pretty cool. After checking out the menu I decided to order the blackened grouper platter for my first dining experience here. Overall the grouper was decently good and came with a LOT of French fries, hush puppies and a smaller serving of coleslaw. I made a return visit to sample their burger and for some weird reason it seems the majority of restaurants in this area of Florida and the Alabama Gulf Coast only have mustard in tiny little irritating packets while they have big bottles of ketchup on the tables. It used to be the STANDARD that tables had BOTH ketchup and mustard bottles on tables so I'm not sure what is going on with this new super weirdo trend of not having mustard bottles these days? I'm a absolute ketchup hater and firmly on team mustard which seems to make me a superfreak pervert of some kind in this neck of the woods... Not long after my visit here I started keeping a bottle of Creole Mustard in my vehicle at all times for such emergencies as I utterly hate the teeny tiny little packets of mustard while ketchup packets are larger than most mustard packets but now you have to deal with no squeeze bottles for mustard and ONLY packets at so many joints while they always seem to have nasty ketchup available... Well that just isn't going to make me a happy camper or give me warm huggy feelings I have to bring my own damn condiments most places in this area these days! So overall this is a decent spot and it seems very popular for the most part but I doubt I will be back as I can get burgers and grouper at most other joints in the area which are in better locations. Some even call me the mustard man so don't F around with the mustard man by only having little pathetic mustard packets as it REALLY makes me have no desire to return!!! read more

They were nice little snack size bites of claw meat. Neither of us had them before. Not great, but I'm glad we tried them. Market price for the crab claws was $31. I ordered the Grilled Grouper and hubby ordered the Red Shrimp, fried. Both entrees were great. The seasoning on my fish was a bit much, I literally scraped it off with my silverware. Served with Lemon, the fish was great, They served both our dinners with Sidewinder fries. Those were really good. No shortage of them. This place was suggested by a clerk at Publix during a casual.conversation. Said it was his favorite restaurant. We decided to try it out. We did have a small wait but was seated quickly ahead of schedule. The food was good. I got the 1/2 lb shrimp and 1 crab cluster, with sausage, corn on the cob and baby potatoes. I had enough to have a Togo plate. Most did the same. Everyone said they enjoyed their food. The staff was attentive and tried to correct anything we asked them about. They came with hush puppies, coleslaw, and sweet potato fries. Although delicious, they were a little bit of work and probably not worth the price. My wife enjoyed her grouper tacos. It's a little odd having mixed drinks in plastic Cups, but that's what it is. We sat at the bar and had great service! Thank you so much. Pretty basic spot. Salty Pearl continues to be a great hidden gem (peal even?) in Perdido Key. It's tucked away off the busy beach, but it is always drawing in large crowds, both locals and visitors. On a Friday night, the parking lots were full, the patio and inside seating was full, and our group found seats at the bar. Within a reasonable time, we had our drinks and food came out fast! As one of biggest supporters when they opened a little over a year ago.. Now they are very busy ( happy to see that success). However past couple of times..but today was deal breaker.
